William Archibald (Archie) MacPHERSON, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin-General Hospital on Monday, February 7, 2005, in his 85th year following a lengthy illness. Archie will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy (Dot) (LEWIS) MacPHERSON his dearly loved children, Lynda and the late Wayne WOWK, Bill and Jean MacPHERSON, and Don and Diane MacPHERSON; his grandchildren, David and Twyla WOWK, Christopher WOWK, Karyn and Jeremy LINDSTROM, Kathy, Laura and Jim MacPHERSON, Heather and Bill TODD, and Beth MacPHERSON; and great-grandchildren, Riley, Owen, and Hannah WOWK. Archie was predeceased by his parents, Truman and Adeline (MARR) MacPHERSON, and his sister Jean TAIT/TAITE/TATE and her husband Don.
Born August 8th, 1920 Archie spent his early years in the Pond Mills area of London and lived most of his married life in North Yarmouth, operating Talbot Sand and Gravel for many years. During his lifetime, he was involved in various sports in the Pond Mills, Glanworth and Belmont communities. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas where visitation will be held on Friday, February 11 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with the funeral service at 11: 00 a.m. on Saturday, February 12. Also surviving is his previous wife Pauline HUTCHINSON/HUTCHISON and a brother James MERCHANT and his wife Zora of Alberta. Predeceased by his sister Shirley LOLLINGER and a brother Lyle MERCHANT. Lloyd was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 185 and was a Life Member of the Masonic Lodge, Palestine Chapter. Peacefully at St. Peter's Hospital in Hamilton on Thursday, September 22, 2005 in her 86th year. Predeceased by her first husband Surgeon Lieut. John POWELL (d. 1942,) and her second husband Basil SOUTHAM (div. 1964) (d. 1979). Will be sadly missed by her children Sandy WHITE/WHYTE of Hamilton, Linda and her husband Don TAIT/TAITE/TATE of Toronto, Lyle SOUTHAM and his wife Joanne of Edmonton, Judy and her husband Bill McMILLAN of Ancaster, Neal and her husband Tim O'NEILL of Bermuda, and 13 beloved grandchildren. Audrey served overseas with the Canadian Red Cross Corps (V.A.D.) during World War 2. She was Headmistress of Hillfield Strathallen Colleges, Hamilton (1968-1972) and principal of Havergal College in Toronto (1972-1975). Cremation has taken place. Passed away on Monday, July 18, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer, at the Tom Baker Centre in Calgary, at the age of 50 years. Jane was born in Toronto, lived her teen years in the Georgetown and Milton area, following which she ventured out to live in Alberta. Jane is sadly missed by her husband Glenn daughters Andrea and Amanda; canine family members Bear and Osita step-daughters Shannon, Heather R., Brenda and Heather T.; and 5 step-grandchildren. Dearly loved sister of Anne, Michelle, Barton, and predeceased by her brother Clifton and her parents Leonard and Marion BENEST. A Celebration of Life will be held at South Calgary Funeral Centre on Saturday, July 23, 2005 at 11: 00 a.m. Flowers gratefully declined. FLOOD, Elizabeth " Betty" Jane
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Elizabeth "Betty" Jane FLOOD at the age of 58 on Tuesday, August 2, 2005. Betty will be greatly missed by her mother Rita FLOOD of Hampton, New Hampshire, her son, Brian TWOMEY of Toronto, daughter, Erin TWOMEY and her fiancé Rabih MAALOUF of Ottawa, her brother John FLOOD and family of Acton, Maine, sister Nancy FLOOD and brother-in-law, James TAIT/TAITE/TATE and family of Toronto, many Friends, and Kaitlin, her dog. Betty was born in Connecticut, U.S.A. but spent most of her life in Canada as a Canadian citizen. Throughout her life, Betty was a teacher, avid bird watcher, a farmer, an artist and most recently while living in Prince Edward County she became part of the Black River Cheese company - a job she loved until she had to leave due to her illness. Betty lived life true to her passions for family, Friends and animals. She was generous, funny and unfailingly tolerant. Without judgement she treated everyone with warmth and good humor. This bright woman was gifted with a lively curiosity about the natural world. She had an instinctive bond with animals and a loving intuitive understanding of people. Everyone who knew Betty learned from her honesty and courage. We will all miss her deeply. Many thanks to the doctors and nurses of the Palliative Care Unit at St. Michael's Hospital for their kindness and care and her dear Friends Carla CALHOUN and Janet FOX who were a special part of this journey. Died peacefully at home on Monday, October 3rd, 2005, age 77. Beloved▲ mother of Ann TAIT/TAITE/TATE. She will be sadly missed by her grand_sons David, his wife Erin and Michael and their father Mike TAIT/TAITE/TATE. Jean would be so happy to know her great-granddaughter Madeline Jane Carole Ann was born just hours after she passed away. Jean is survived by her sister Rita (Ian) and brother Charles McGILL of Scotland and is predeceased by sisters Eleanor and Janet. She will be missed by the Service Family and by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and Friends. Devoted and cherished husband of the late Isabelle for 45 years, World War 2 Veteran and former Assistant General Manager of the Canadian National Exhibition. Proud and committed father of Russell (Sue), Barbara (Jim), Peter (Anne Marie), Martin (Terry), David (Jill), Robert (Michelle), Martha (Kim), and 20 grandchildren. Brother of Dick and the late Jim. Howard will always be remembered for his sense of humour, love of life, courage, determination and commitment to his family, Friends and community.
