Passed away peacefully on Monday, January 24, 2005 at The Woodhaven (Markham), in his 88th year. Devoted husband of 62 years to Beulah. Much loved father of Mona BOOKER (Brian), Susan DODGE (James) of Nanaimo, British Columbia and Marilyn SYMANS (Francis) of Phoenix, Arizona. Sadly missed by grandchildren Elizabeth-Anne BOOKER, Amy McINTOSH (Graeme), Karen GAMBLE (James), Warren DODGE, Susie McDOWELL, Debbie SCHWECKE (Bryan) and Jimmy SYMANS, and great-grandchildren Shannon and Ashley. He will be missed by his extended family and all who knew him. Former proprietor of Armadale General Store, 60-year member of Simcoe Lodge No. 644 G.R.C., Past President Ontario Parks Association, member of the Rouge Valley Antique Car Club and Vice Chair of the Residents' Council at Woodhaven. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 28th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. followed by a Masonic Service at 8: 00 p.m. at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, 8911 Woodbine Avenue (3 lights north of Hwy. 7), Markham, 905-305-8508. Funeral service in the Chapel on Saturday, January 29th at 10 a.m. Interment at Pine Hills Cemetery followed by a reception at the Pine Hills Cemetery Reception Centre. Gordon is survived by his wife and soul mate of 15 years Kim YELTON of Houston, and his loving family, Carolyn KREMER, Doug and Kim REID, Joanne and Garth BROWNELL, and Jennifer and Graham SYMCOX, and his grandchildren, Cory, Chris, Sandra, Megan, Breanna, Michael, Emily, and Sarah, all of Calgary, Alberta. It is with immense sadness and loss that we announce the passing of our sweet Jacquie, after an intense 17 month battle with cancer. Jacquie was a warrior, who stared down the disease and against long odds, battled it to a standstill. She lived these days with the joy, vitality, and sense of style, grace and fun that was her lifelong trademark. Jacquie is survived by her grieving husband Robert, his mother Lois, her stepsons Ryan and Tyler, her parents Ross and Shirley DURST, her sisters Judy TWOMEY (Dan,▼) Jamie▼ BAHLMAN (Richard,▼) brother Jerry, sister-in-law Carol MOFFAT (David), brother-in-law Steve (Rebekah) and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. A beautiful figure skater and fine golfer, Jacquie won club championships at three different golf clubs in the last two years, including the Toronto Hunt Ladies' Championship last summer, between chemo sessions (by 15 shots). She will be missed throughout the Canadian advertising and production community for her talent as head of Broadcast Production at Grey Worldwide. Her wonderful personality, professionalism, sense of fairness and mentoring skills will be sorely missed. Thanks to all the Friends who lifted us up through these perilous times. Passed away peacefully, on Thursday, April 7, 2005, at Toronto East General Hospital. Loving mother of Audrey KVEDARAS and her husband Paul SYME, Paul KVEDARAS, and Sandra WILCOX and her husband David. Adored grandmother of Jeffrey and Matthew WILCOX and Clara SYME. Alice was born November 26, 1927 in Suvalkija, Lithuania, as the daughter of the SPEDER family. She grew up in Lithuania and moved to Canada where she became a nurse in 1956 and married Vytautas KVEDARAS a short time after. Over the years she volunteered at the Kingsway Lambton United Church and many other charities. Alice spent over 30 years on Addison Beach on beautiful Georgian Bay. She loved to walk in parks and always saw the beauty of the natural surroundings. She always enjoyed the companionship of dogs. A Memorial Service will be held at Park Lawn Cemetery, Mausoleum Chapel at 2845 Bloor St. W., Etobicoke, on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at 2 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Turner and Porter Butler Chapel (416) 231-2283. Gordon MANNING, born in Davidson, Saskatchewan, a son of the late Frederick and Georgina (STOREY) MANNING, passed away in Owen Sound on Saturday, November 26, 2005 at the age of ninety-five. Gordon was predeceased by his wife, the former Eva Roxy QUINTON (née SYMES) in 1998. He is survived by his brother Walter MANNING and wife Orla of Bognor and was predeceased by a brother Archibald “Archie” MANNING and a sister Jean MOUNTJOY. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and their families. Also remembered by Eva's children Richard and Elaine QUINTON of Brampton, Glenda and Albert CRAIG of Whitby, Thomas and Sandy QUINTON of Schreiber and Judy and John McKESSOCK of Bognor and their families. Faith graduated from Alma College in 1940, University of Western Ontario in 1946. At Bluewater Health, Charlotte Eleanor Englehart site, Petrolia on Sunday, June 12, 2005, Helen Irene (McLACHLAN) ARMSTRONG of Brookside Retirement Living, Watford and formerly of Alvinston in her 93rd year. Predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, James Keith ARMSTRONG (Nov. 4, 1988.) Beloved mother of Neil (Jean) ARMSTRONG of Corunna. Loved grandmother and great grandmother of Bonnie, her daughters, Lauren and Tara of Markham; Bill, his wife Susan and their family, Daniel, Ben and Emily of Kinburn (Ottawa). Helen was born on May 11, 1913 in Brooke Twp. to her parents, Angus and Kate (LAMONT) McLACHLAN. She is survived by two brothers, Raymond (Isabelle) McLACHLAN, Wardsville, Robert (Ruth) McLACHLAN, Watford; also sisters-in-law, Lois STRONG, Kelowna, British Columbia; Marie (Harold) PATTERSON, Corunna Noreen ARMSRONG, Belmont; Donna ARMSTRONG, Corunna; and Dorothy ARMSTRONG, Alvinston. Helen was predeceased by two sisters, Jean GALBRAITH and Shirley LENI and brother, Neil. She will be remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Helen will also be remembered by many of the students that she taught in various one room schools, Oakdale, S.S.#6 Brooke, Culloden, Little Ireland, Caradoc, Euphemia and in Alvinston Public School. She had a great love for the history and people of the Alvinston area. She was a long time member and former treasurer of Guthrie Presbyterian Church; the Womens Missionary Society and Ladies Aid Group. Survived by her sister, Grace McCALL.
