It is with great sadness that the family announce the tragic death of Mike VAN BOMMEL at his home in Glen Morris on Friday, March 19th, 2005 in his 39th year. Cherished husband and best friend of Sharon (née CRIGHTON,) loving and devoted father of Christopher, Jillian, Eleasha and Deanna. Mike will be forever loved and missed by his mother Margaretha, and his siblings Annie (Paul HAYWARD,) Denise (and friend Arnold PACZAY,) Jenny (Marty HAHN), Ed (Jenny VAN BOMMEL), Rick (Brenda VAN BOMMEL), and Nancy (Mark STUBBS.) He is fondly remembered by his mother-in-law Wilma (and the late Hector CRIGHTON,) and was a brother-in-law to Elaine (Greg KELLAM), Craig (Nicole CRIGHTON), and Stuart (Suzanne CRIGHTON). Born at Cornell, Ontario, on May 20, 1928. Dear son of the late E.E. HICKS and the late former Zuella COOPER. Jack retired from Ontario Hydro in 1985 after 38 years of service. He was a member of Avondale Zion United Church, Tillsonburg. President of Tillsonburg Minor Hockey 1974 and a strong supporter of Minor Hockey as a father and grandfather. Harold STUBBS graduated a goldmedalist from the University of Manitoba Law School in 1936. He was a member of the law firm Stubbs, Stubbs and Stubbs and was Secretary of the Manitoba Law Society from 1958-1981. Upon his retirement he was appointed Secretary Emeritus of the Manitoba Law Society. He was Secretary Treasurer of the Conference of Governing Bodies of the Legal Profession in Canada, 1960-1972. Also was a Bencher of the Law Society of Manitoba, Lecturer at Manitoba Law School, President of the Manitoba Bar Association 1957-1958. Appointed to Queens Council in January 1953. He served in the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Air Force 1941 to 1945 as pilot and flying officer. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, June 19 at Southwood Golf and Country Club from 1-4 p.m. Donations in his memory may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave. Winnipeg, Manitoba R3A 1P6.

Passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2005, in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late Arthur FEATHERSTONE. Loving sister of the late Margaret MITCHELL of Toronto and the late Ruth STUBBS of Hamilton, Bermuda. Daughter of the late James Henry MITCHELL and Elizabeth SISTERSON of Wingham, Ontario. Jean graduated from Toronto Normal School in the early 1930s. She taught in North York at Old Yonge Street School, Queen Mary School and Goulding Memorial School. In 1946 she organized a Speech Correction Program in North York which she carried on until 1968, then she returned to the classroom to teach the hard-of-hearing class at Cameron Avenue Public School. After 36 years of teaching, Jean retired to enjoy other aspects of her life. She will be long remembered by her many Friends and acquaintances as one who enjoyed life to the fullest. Loving sister of the late Margaret MITCHELL of Toronto and the late Ruth STUBBS of Hamilton, Bermuda. Daughter of the late James Henry MITCHELL and Elizabeth SISTERSON of Wingham, Ontario. Jean graduated from Toronto Normal School in the early 1930s. She taught in North York at Old Yonge Street School, Queen Mary School and Goulding Memorial School. In 1946, she organized a Speech Correction Program in North York which she carried on until 1968, then she returned to the classroom to teach the hard-of-hearing class at Cameron Avenue Public School. After 36 years of teaching, Jean retired to enjoy other aspects of her life. She will be long remembered by her many Friends and acquaintances as one who enjoyed life to the fullest. Known to her great-grandchildren as "G.G.", she will be missed by all of them: Diana, Alan, and Robin TENNIER (deceased;) Shannon, David and Christopher HEBB; Mathew, Spencer and Jack HEBB, all of Burlington, Ontario; Amy and Michael STUCK, both of Ottawa, Ontario; Oskar HEBB, Halifax. She is survived by her brother, Alan (Helen), Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph "Rad"; sisters, Margaret, Gerda and Hilda brother, Harry. She had a special relationship with her daughters-in-law, Louise and Nancy, and all of her family and Friends. She was born in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, educated there, as well as at Edgehill School for Girls, Dalhousie University (B.A. 1927) and U. of T. (M.A. 1931) and she had lived in Halifax since 1933. She served a term as Dalhousie Alumni Representative on the Dalhousie Board of Governors, she was involved with Saint John Ambulance and for many years was a member of the Auxiliary of the Halifax Children's Hospital (IWK Health Centre.) She was vibrant, generous and caring. A service to celebrate her remarkable life will be held on Saturday, January 22, at 1 p.m. in Melville Gardens, 11 Ramsgate Lane, Halifax.
