Suddenly, at home, on Sunday, September 4, 2005, in her seventy-seventh year, after a stroke. Joan was the loving mother of Vicki (Tony) PULLEN and Jodi (Robert) STODGELL and the late Rick JAMES. Best grandma ever to Nicholas and Emmy PULLEN, Jack and Clark STODGELL. Dear sister of Tommy (Bob) ORD of Belleville. Joan was born Teresa Joan HUNTER in Belleville, Ontario where she graduated in nursing from Belleville General Hospital in 1951. Her family moved to Port Credit in 1964 where Joan gained recognition for her golf, curling and bridge acumen at Mississaugua Golf and Country Club. Her greatest legacy is her four grandchildren who will miss her constant nurturing and devotion. The family will receive Friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue, from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, September 8th. A Service of Remembrance will be held in the chapel on Friday, September 9th at one o'clock. In loving memory of Joseph CORBIERE, May 24, 1922 - January 16, 2005.
Joseph CORBIERE, a resident of M'Chigeeng, died at the Wikwemikong Nursing Home on Sunday, January 16, 2005 at the age of 82 years. He was born on Manitoulin Island, the son of the late Edward and Emma (GEGWETCH) CORBIERE. Joe had many trades - farming, logging and saw milling, and worked at carpentry until his retirement in 1987. He loved horses and enjoyed horse pulls. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, and bingo, and was an avid gardener. Joseph is survived by his loving wife Gina (DEBASSIGE) CORBIERE. Loving father of Audrey and Susan of M'Chigeeng, Linda (and friend Dennis) of Minnesota, Jacqueline (and Phil) of British Columbia, Michael (and Penny), Joseph (and friend Rachelle,) and Lloyd all of M'Chigeeng. Dear brother of Mary RECOLLET of Birch island. Proud grandfather of seventeen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Survived by his children, Beth and her husband Keith BLACK of Ingersoll, Doug STOKES of Ingersoll and Kathryn and her husband Harold FRANKFURTER of Victoria, British Columbia. Also survived by five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two brothers Bob and Brian and a sister Marian CASE. Keith was an active elder at Mount Zion United Church in London for 21 years and an elder at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Ingersoll for 12 years. He served as a volunteer driver for the Canadian Cancer Society for 12 years and for a number of years with the Interchurch Christmas Cheer. He loved doing woodworking, playing Bridge, Curling and was an avid reader. Cremation has taken place. Barry was the proud Grampy of Alexandria, Bridget, and Cassandra STOKES, Julia▼ and Cameron ROWE, and Tessa POULTON. He was the dear brother of Bruce and his wife Irene, Lynne and her husband Doug COOK and Lori POULTON, all of Toronto. Barry will be remembered as a life long member of the Young Men's Christian Association. He served on the board of directors with the Young Men's Christian Association Peterborough, and the Young Men's Christian Association-Young Women's Christian Association Guelph for many years. He enjoyed a successful career as a municipal engineer in the cities of Scarborough, Guelph and Peterborough. After retiring from municipal engineering, he enjoyed a brief association with Conestoga Rovers of Waterloo.

Aged 81, from complications related to diabetes, on May 5, 2005, at Stratford General Hospital. Pat was born July 29, 1923, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, raised in Scotland, and immigrated to Canada in her 30s. She served in the Women's Royal Naval Service in World War 2, married Don COOPER on June 1, 1946, and had one child, Pamela. In Canada, she lived in Toronto, Montréal, Calgary, Kitchener, and finally, Stratford. After life as a homemaker and mother, Pat rejoined the workforce, first with Eaton's, and then, more true to her passions, as a proofreader/editor with a legal publisher. Pat is survived and missed by her husband of nearly 59 years Don COOPER, her daughter Pamela DELANEY, her sister Betty IZZARD of Toronto, her brother Vic GILLGAN and his wife Brenda of Derbyshire, England, her five nieces including, Barbara IZZARD- THYNNE, her many nephews, including Danny IZZARD, and Stephen, Peter and Phillip Gillgan, her grand-dog, Fiona, and seven grand-cats. Friends Nadine RAYNER and Christine FORD have lost a mentor and woman they admired. She joins her beloved parents, Vic and Ida GILLGAN, and her "son" Dusty the cat; all three of these "spirits" spent her last month in the hospital with her, according to Pat herself. She is also reunited with Colleen CHAPLIN and Chris STOKES, who she has missed dearly. As per her request, there will be no funeral. Pat's body has been donated to the University of Toronto. She will be remembered as a classy lady, with a well-honed wit, and a deep love for animals and the English language; as Danny put it, "she was the coolest." We owe our deepest thanks to Dr. Laurel MOORE for the care, admiration and respect she gave to Pat. Donations in Pat's memory should be sent to Pet Trust, Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph, Guelph, Ontario, Canada N1G 2W1. That would tickle her whiskers no end.

It is with great sorrow that we say goodbye to Jim who passed away peacefully December 9 in Toronto with his loving wife of 45 years, Sally, at his side. He will be dearly missed by his children David and Lisa, their spouses Heather TERRENCE and Jamie OSBORNE and grandchildren Oak and Lark. James is sweetly remembered by his sister Mary, sister-in-law Nancy STOKES and their children Laura, John Louis, Donald and Fraser. James was a passionate educator who taught in Richmond Hill and Thornhill public schools and served as a school volunteer with science fairs, stamp and computer clubs for 31 years. Jim was also an active community volunteer throughout his life with the Young Men's Christian Association, Scouts Canada, Fort York Militia, and the Canadian Legion-Richmond Hill branch. A history buff, James proudly served as Commanding Officer and Quartermaster of the 78th Fraser Highlanders - York Garrison. He was a life long collector and active member of the Ontario Model Soldier Society. His other collecting interests included books, Tarzan publications, trains and stamps. A private family service will be held next week. A celebration of his life will be held in the spring for all his Friends, co-workers and fellow officers. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory may be made to the Palliative Unit of the Toronto Grace Hospital and the Multiple Myeloma Research fund of the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.

It is with great sorrow that we say goodbye to Jim who passed away peacefully December 9 in Toronto with his loving wife of 45 years, Sally, at his side. He will be dearly missed by his children David and Lisa, their spouses Heather TERRENCE and Jamie OSBORNE and grandchildren Oak and Lark. James is sweetly remembered by his sister Mary, sister-in-law Nancy STOKES and their children Laura, John Louis, Donald and Fraser. James was a passionate educator who taught in Richmond Hill and Thornhill public schools and served as a school volunteer with science fairs, stamp and computer clubs for 31 years. Jim was also an active community volunteer throughout his life with the Young Men's Christian Association, Scouts Canada, Fort York Militia, and the Canadian Legion-Richmond Hill branch. A history buff, James proudly served as Commanding Officer and Quartermaster of the 78th Fraser Highlanders York Garrison. He was a life long collector and active member of the Ontario Model Soldier Society. His other collecting interests included books, Tarzan publications, trains and stamps. A private family service will be held next week. A celebration of his life will be held in the spring for all his Friends, co-workers and fellow officers. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory may be made to the Palliative Unit of the Toronto Grace Hospital and the Multiple Myeloma Research Fund of the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.
