Gertie died peacefully on May 21, 2005, at home following several months decline from cancer. She is survived by her beloved family: husband Vernon, sons Raymond and Rodney, daughter Deborah, daughters-in-law Christine and Donna and seven grandchildren: Camille, Adam, Jeffrey, Jennie and Melanie KINGDON; Pamela and Amanda ASHBURN. She is also survived by her dear mother Myrtle ARMSTRONG of Brandon, Manitoba; three sisters Edna, Lillian and Gladys, brother Elliott and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Gertie was born in Brandon, Manitoba and had a happy childhood. When she married Vern in 1952 they lived at Flin Flon, Manitoba. Later they lived in Winnipeg, then Beaconsfield, Québec and since 1984 in Oakville. She was an accomplished artist and teacher of painting. She taught watercolour on a part time basis at Visual Arts Mississauga for the past 20 years with many in the class remaining with her for years. It was only in January this year that her sickness prevented her from continuing. Her paintings have been sold widely and she participated in many art shows including one person shows, the most recent being at Oakville Town Hall a year ago. She also helped organize successful annual art and craft shows at her church for ten years. She was a member of the Oakville Art Society, Oakville Arts Council and Mississauga Arts Council. Genie was a member of the Oakville Lawn Bowling Club and played in several bridge clubs. She loved to travel with her husband Vern and they made many trips both in Canada and abroad. She will be remembered as a friendly, caring person with a lovely smile. She kept in close contact with a widely spread extended family and her many Friends here and from Beaconsfield, Québec. John SEAGRAVE died on Saturday, October 8, 2005 at age 46. A Yellowknife writer, he was the voice of the last generation of men who traded furs at Hudson's Bay trading posts across the Canadian Arctic. John's humourous, yet moving stories, published in his 2004 book of short stories, "The Hudon's Bay Boy," chronicle his journey from the poorest streets of inner city Toronto to northern outposts such as Kugluktuk, Baker Lake and Coral Harbour.
In 1995, he married Lisa STAPLES. They own a native art store in Yellowknife, the Gallery of the Midnight Sun. John has two sons, Luke and Josh, and two daughters, Anna and Josephine. He was predeceased by his mother, Cecelia and survived by his father, Joseph, sisters Mary and June, and brothers Peter (Colleen) and Richard (Lauri). He leaves behind Lisa's parents, Marjorie and Brian STAPLES and Lisa's brothers, Chris (Steve) and David (Lily.) He will be missed by his nieces and nephews: Meaghen, Connor, Tom, Jack, Ned, Joe, Daniel, and Isabelle. He will also be missed by aunts, uncles, cousins and many Friends he made in Yellowknife and in his travels throughout Canada.

Passed away peacefully at her home in Brampton on Wednesday, August 10th, 2005 at age 93 surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Mary Josephine SULLIVAN, beloved wife of the late John Charles SULLIVAN (March 22, 1982.) Loving mother of Michael and his wife Jackie of Strathmore, Alberta and her daughter Eileen McMANAMON of Brampton. Beloved grandmother of Catharine and Michael McMANAMON, Dolan SULLIVAN and Michelle CYR. Dear sister of the late Frank WALSH of Guelph, Alice BUIE of Toronto, Florence STAPLES of Guelph and Ellen WHELAN (her twin) of Weston. A 70-year member of the Catholic Women's League. A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 15 at 10: 30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 940 North Park Drive, Brampton. Cremation. Interment at Mary Mount Cemetery, Guelph, Ontario. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Suddenly Monday afternoon on November 7th, 2005 while enjoying one last hunt with his Friends. He had recently retired from 47 years of service for the Toronto Star. To many he was a co-worker, a coach, a volunteer or a friend. To all he was a man with a heart filled with love and great devotion to his family and Friends. His smile and the sound of his laughter will be forever missed. Beloved▼ husband and best friend of Mary Lou STAPLES. Peacefully with his family at his side on Thursday December 1, 2005 at the Sunrise Senior Living in Burlington, Keith STAPLES in his 82nd year beloved husband and friend of the late Elva STAPLES (TRASK.) Dear friend of Doreen McKERRICKER. Beloved▲ father of Scott and Andre, Rhonda and Mike, Jeff and Patty. Dearest grandfather of Chris, Julia, Rachel, Caitlin, Jeff, Jessica, Amy, Shaun, Dean, and Michelle. Keith is survived by sisters-in-law Enid WHALE and her husband Elwin, Wilma SNOWE, Marjorie McDOWELL, Jean TRASK and brothers-in-law Morley TRASK and his wife Thelma, Murray TRASK and his wife Mavis, Keith is also survived by a number of wonderful nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by brothers-in-law Wilfred TRASK, Garth McDOWELL and Allan SNOWe. Keith was a graduate of Queens University 1947, he was a research chemist with Proctor and Gamble and a G.M. with John A. Huston/Colgate Palmolive and a councilor and consultant for George Brown College and C.E.S.O. The family will receive their Friends at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home and Chapel, 37 Church Street, Elora. From 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Service will be held on Monday December 5 at 1: 00 p.m. at the Alma United Church. With Reverend SCHNIDER officiating at the service. Followed by burial of the cremated remains at the Elora cemetery. Remembrances to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by the family.
