At the Woodstock General Hospital on Monday, February 14, 2005, Robert "Glenn" MIDDLETON of Hickson in his 77th year. Beloved husband of Lois Jean MIDDLETON (née DICKSON/DIXON) for over 53 years. Dear father of Brian and his wife Shirley of Hickson, Don and his wife Mary Ann of Woodstock, Karen SCHWARTZENTRUBER and her husband Keith of Shakespeare and Brenda BONIS and her husband Rob of Lindsay. Loved grandfather of Darryl, Amanda, Melissa, Jason, Jeremy (Mandy), Jeff, Josh, Joey, Jordan, Kelly (John), Kim, (Erik), Jeff (Leah), Greg, Kyle, Angela and step grandfather of Scott (Ashley) and Eric. Ruth Barbara SCHLEGEL, 87, of Tavistock passed away at her residence on Monday, April 4, 2005. She was born in Wilmot Township, Waterloo County on February 4, 1918 a daughter of the late Christian E. SCHWARTZENTRUBER and the former Mary JANTZI/YANTZI. She married LeRoy "Roy" SCHLEGEL in Wilmot Township on June 3, 1936. He predeceased her on December 26, 1983. Mother was a beautiful hostess and was known for her generous hospitality and her cooking abilities in summer camps and nursing homes. Following their marriage she and Roy farmed in Wilmot Township until they founded the PeopleCare Tavistock Nursing Center in 1968. She was a member of Wilmot Mennonite Church. She was lovingly cared for by Myrna SIMON, Eva McLAREN and Kathryn FLETCHER and passed away peacefully in her home. She will be missed by family and Friends, but fond memories of her will be treasured in our hearts forever.

Mrs. Anna Hain a resident of Wallaceburg passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at C.K.H.A. "Sydenham Campus", in Wallaceburg, at the age of 86. Anna was born in Mohacich, Hungary and was a daughter of the late Peter and Veronica (SCHWARTZKOPF) STILLER. She had resided in the Wallaceburg area for the past 47 years. She was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Wallaceburg. Beloved wife of Paul HAIN and the late Bela TREBICS (1978.) Dear mother and mother-in-law of Bela "Bill" and Debra TREBICS of Wallaceburg, Jeno TREBICS of Wallaceburg and Theresa and Gusztav OMLOSI of Hungary. Dear step-mother of: Inge MYERS, Edith SCHOPF, Norbert HAIN, Veronica HALL, Joe TURBUCZ Jr., Irene RUSSELL and Liz KITZLER. Sadly missed by 15 grandchildren, many step grandchildren and many great grandchildren. The late Anna HAIN rested at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home, 639 Elgin Street, Wallaceburg until Friday, May 6, 2005 when the funeral mass was held from Our Lady Help of Christians Church at 10: 30 a.m. with Fr. Greg BONIN, Celebrant. Mrs. Fran FRALEIGH presided at the organ. The church choir sang the mass. The pall was placed on the casket by her two sons. Pall bearers were: Jim HALL, Mike HALL, Tony DUPCIK, Shawn RUSTEAU, James CADOTTE and Bob BROWN. Interment was in Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg. Peter BLACKWOOD was born Hanspeter SCHWARZWALDER on May 20th, 1929 in the southern region of Germany. He passed away bathed in the early morning light on February 4th, 2005 of complications from lung cancer at the Princess Margaret Hospital. He is survived by his wife Rosemarie and two sons Andrew and Clayton. He will sadly be missed by his extended family in Canada, California, Germany and Hong Kong. It was his heart of gold and love of life that forged and maintained many close Friendships over the past 75 years. He came to Canada in 1954, early in his career as a dental technician working at Shaw Laboratories until 1965 when he started Oral Ceramic Laboratories. His mentoring through the lab produced many skilled and successful technicians. Peter spent many years living on Toronto Island developing a passion for Lake Ontario, sailing and was a member of the R.C.Y.C. This love for the water eventually led Peter and Rosemarie across to Niagara-on-the-Lake where they spent many years enjoying the Toronto skyline and all that life has to offer. An avid golfer in his later years, Peter could often be seen on the course in the early morning light surrounded by all his Friends. Visitations with the family will be held at the Niagara-on-the Lake Chapel of the Morgan Funeral Homes, 415 Regent Street, Niagara-on-the-Lake on Tuesday, February 8th from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Peter's life will be celebrated at a funeral service on Wednesday, February 9th at 11 a.m., at the chapel. University football star killed in bar
Suspect turns himself in to Kingston police

A man wanted in connection with the slaying of a Queen's University football star at a Kingston bar turned himself in early yesterday morning.
Justin SCHWIEG, a 23-year-old physical education student, died after he was stabbed at AJ's Hangar on Princess St. early Friday morning.
Police, who described the attack as unprovoked, said the suspect fled the scene when bar staff confronted him.
Around 2 a.m. Friday, Kingston police and ambulance were called to the dance bar, a popular destination frequented by youth from the Kingston area, Queen's University and the Royal Military College.
Earlier, chaos had erupted after the stabbing on the second floor as screaming patrons pushed and shoved each other to get their coats to quickly leave, witnesses: said.
"This is a tremendous loss to our community, all because of a vicious and cowardly act," said Kingston police Det. Sgt. Harley KELLAR, lead investigator.
SCHWIEG, who was a defensive back for the Queen's Golden Gaels, had worked as a doorman at the Brass Pub on Princess St. for just over a year.
"There are nothing but nice things I could say about him. Everyone looked up to him. He was someone I could really rely on, that's why I had him," said the pub's general manager Mike WIEBER.
"He was a hard-working kid, a great attitude not only at work, but life in general. He was an athlete. He was just on his way to finishing a university degree. He wanted to get into teaching and that's what he wanted to do after when he graduated. He would have been great at it."
In addition to going to school, playing football and holding a job, SCHWIEG coached youth football.
The Brass Pub bar staff, a tight-knit group, was in a state of shock and gathered yesterday to try to make sense of the tragedy, he said.
"I don't know if it has to do with we're getting a bigger population (in Kingston) or if the kids that are growing up these days are just getting more violent," he said.
A number of fundraisers are being planned and fellow employees say they would like to help the SCHWIEG family.
"I know in big cities like Toronto and Ottawa a lot of these incidents happen, but here in Kingston it doesn't happen," WIEBER said.
"It's really showing how much Kingston is changing. I just really think we should open our eyes here in Kingston and we're going to have to be more aware of things that are going on and maybe different security measures for getting into the bars."
This was Kingston's second homicide of the year.
Bruce Keno McKENZIE, 26, also known as Fuzzy or Fuzzy J, is charged with second-degree murder and possession of a weapon.
He is in custody and scheduled to appear in court today.
A 23-year-old Kingston man, Michael CRICTOBAL, was arrested by Toronto police and returned to Kingston where he was scheduled to appear in court today to face a charge of being an accessory after the fact to murder.

Arbutus was born in McKillop Township, daughter of the late Joseph SMITH and the former Roma DIEGEL. In 1951 she married D. Ross MacLEAN and the couple lived in this area except from 1964 until 1971 when they lived in California. Ross predeceased her October 5, 2000. She was a former employee of Smith-Wagner Stationery and was a childcare worker for a number of years.

Richard SCHWINDT of Sioux Lookout, Ontario, writes about heart surgeon Wilfred (Bill) BIGELOW, whose obituary appeared on Wednesday.
I only met him once over 20 years ago, but I well recall that day. Dr. BIGELOW started his presentation to the Toronto General Hospital pacemaker club with a slide show on the development of the pacemaker. I felt squeamish when he showed a picture of the dog unlucky enough to try out the prototype but he spoke with such kindness and respect for the dog that, by the time he finished, I felt like the dog had been part of the team.
Afterward, I was asked to pose for a picture with him and the first pacemaker. I thought it was just a photo op, but he began to speak and I realized that he was really going to take the opportunity to explain to me how the thing worked. I was probably the youngest person in attendance, and he wanted me to know how the device in my chest had evolved.
Dr BIGELOW left a very concrete legacy, but the pacemaker clinic at Toronto General Hospital is still a humane and caring place. I can't help but wonder whether his legacy transcends machines and techniques. He alluded in his talk to family and a church community that sustained him. And I have no doubt that his kindness and humility earned the love of those who surrounded him. Still, it moves me to think that he went through periods of professional isolation and risk on behalf of people like myself.

LOGAN, Dorothy▲ (née DENNIS)
Passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 21, 2005 at Lantana, Florida. She was in her 100th year. Dorothy was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she resided until her marriage in 1962 to A. Everett LOGAN of London, Ontario. She and Everett divided their time between London and Palm Beach, Florida until Everett passed away in 1978. Since then Dorothy has lived year-round in Florida.
Daughter of William Walter DENNIS and Helen Hurley DENNIS, Dorothy▲ was predeceased by her step-daughter Suzanne (LOGAN) CARROLL. She will be sadly missed by her son-in-law Jim CARROLL, his wife Mary Alice and his family; Craig and Cindy CARROLL, all of Toronto, Paula and Matt SCHWINDT of Burlington and Diana and Douglas ADAM/ADAMS of Edmonton, Alberta. Also by her step-daughter Gloria (LOGAN) ELLENTON, husband Harold of Waterloo and their family; Jennifer of Erin, Ontario, Susan and husband Robert ANDERSON of Victoria, British Columbia, Bob ELLENTON and Faith MOOSANG of Vancouver, British Columbia, Kristy ELLENTON and Mike STROH, Elizabeth ELLENTON and Kelly TOWNSEND all of Waterloo and eleven great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was an avid golfer, still playing even when she was in her late eighties. Her vitality and longevity were admired by family and Friends.
The family wishes to express our heartfelt thanks to Rhoda and Arthur RODBELL of Palm Beach, Florida for their devoted kindness to Dorothy over many years and especially during her final days.
It was Dorothy's expressed wish that there be no funeral service. Interment in Woodland Cemetery, London has already taken place. At Baycrest Hospital in his 103rd year on Sunday, May 8, 2005. Eugene, beloved husband of the late Edith. Predeceased by son Andras and daughter Susan and her late husband Alex. Cherished grandfather of Ron and his wife Heather, and loving great-grandfather of two. Eugene will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and dear Friends. The family wishes to thank the Baycrest staff for their many years of loving care. Special thanks to Vera, Andrea, and Ildiko for their loving attention. Peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, after a long and brave battle with cancer, on Wednesday, September 21, 2005, Audrey Myra (KILGOUR) WILCOX in her 79th year. Beloved wife of the late Jack "Father" WILCOX. Dear mother of John WILCOX and his wife Vicki, Judy McFARLEN and her husband Brydon, and Jill WILCOX and her husband Tom BOGART all of London. Dear sister of Helen SCHWOOB of Kitchener. Predeceased by her mother Lillian KILGOUR. Loving grandmother of Dax and his partner Chilo, Kara and her partner Tim, Lauren and her partner Joe, Tori, Alex and Lauchlin. Great grandmother to Brandon. Special friend of Mac and Nellie HAIG. Audrey devoted her life to her family. She loved her family get-togethers and was an avid Blue Jays fan. The family would like to give special thanks to Bev LEWIS for all her kindness and support.
