HALL, Louisa Irene (SANDICK)
Of Ingersoll Avenue, in Woodstock, on Wednesday, October 26, 2005 in her 100th year. Irene was born in Ingersoll on March 16, 1906, the eldest child of J. Ernest and Mary (WEIR) SANDICK. She spent her childhood on her parents' dairy farm near Beachville. In her youth Irene was catcher on the well known Dunn's ladies softball team, until she went off to Normal School, London, in 1925. In 1926, she began her teaching career in a small school in Lakehurst, north or Peterborough, and a year later she married John D. HALL of that community. Together they had six children - Douglas (Rhonda) of Montreal, Quebec, Pauline (Bob McLAREN) of Hickson, Delbert (Sheila) of Innisfil, Richard (Janet) of Woodstock, Keith of Woodstock, and Dennis (Thea) of Hadashville, Manitoba. From 1934 to 1952 the family resided in Innerkip, where Irene was active in the United Church and various community events. After John's death in 1953, Irene went back to teaching - serving in several Oxford County schools, among them Centreville, Southside, Beaconsfield, and Hickson. She loved children and could remember almost all of those she taught - long after her retirement in 1971. She kept mentally alert until her life's end, enjoying scrapbooks and puzzles, scrabble and cards - usually beating her care-giver, Keith, quite handily. In addition to her children and their spouses, Irene is survived by twenty grandchildren and their spouses, thirty-three great-grandchildren and spouses. She also has a sister Nell (Mrs. Alex) HART. She is predeceased by brother Gordon SANDICK (Elsie,) and numerous life long Friends and relatives with whom she shared her long and productive life. Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at the R.D. Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Avenue, Woodstock, 539-0004 on Friday October 28, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where a funeral service to celebrate Irene's life will be held in the chapel on Saturday at 11: 00 a.m. with Reverend Margaret MURRAY the officiant. At the residence of her Friends Dr. Sandor and Mrs. Marica VIGH, Margaret SIKLOSI in her 87th year, beloved wife of the late Albert (Bela) SIKLOSI passed away peacefully on May 24, 2005. Margaret and her late husband Albert emigrated from Hungary to Canada in 1957. They became proud Canadians, conserving also their Hungarian heritage. Margaret will be sadly missed by her nephew Carl PAPP, his son Carl PAPP, Jr., wife Joan and their son Eric. Also by her nephew Rudolf SANDOR and his wife Anna (Hungary,) her godson Peter DRABBANT and his wife Christina.
Margaret was a friend to so many and they all will keep her memory in their hearts. Margaret's family want to thank all her Friends for their help and moral support they tried do lend after her beloved Albert's passing. The family wish to express their gratitude to Vera and Les FELEKI, Dr. Sandor and Mrs. Marica VIGH, Shirley HOTHAM, John EBERHARD for the exceptional Friendship they demonstrated in the final years of Margaret's life. Musician and teacher, born Joyce FELDTMANN at Clairmont, Western Australia, on March 6, 1902. Raised in England, she studied cello in Belgium and gave recitals across Europe before moving to Toronto in 1929 to join the Harisay String Quartet, a group that included composer Murray ADASKIN. In 1936, she moved to South Africa to take an orchestra job there, then returned to Toronto in 1939, where she played with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra until 1945. She retired in 1959, ending her playing career as principal cellist of the Ottawa Philharmonic. She died in Victoria.

Jim was a beloved husband of Louise (SANDS,) loving father of Darren (Trish), Dylan (Shara), Deanne, Katie, Johanne (Michael) and Steve (Rachel). Dearest grandfather of Emma, Mikayla, Madison, Noah, Caleb, and Jonah. Loving brother of Annie (Merv), Helen (Eric), Barbara (the late Willis), Tom (Roselle), Pat (Don), and Bill (Rose). Dear brother-in-law of Alfred▼ (Vicki,▼) Peter,▼ Pat and the late Ellen (SANDS) and the late Susan (Bruce). "Uncle Jimmy" will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews.
