Director of Development, Queen's University, Kingston. Unexpectedly on Monday, October 3, 2005 at the Kingston General Hospital in Kingston, with his family by his side. After 60 years of unconditional love and kindness, our hearts ache to announce the passing of a true gentleman and man of faith. Ed was the lifelong sweetheart to his wife Beverly. His children Heather and Curtis JACKSON, Bethany and Mark ROUBLE, and Bramwell and Anita PEARCE will forever cherish and love him. Allison JOY predeceased him in 1976. Ashley, Katelyn and Andrew will miss their papa and will have many great memories in the backyard playhouse that Ed built for them. Ed will also be missed by his parents Edward and Christina PEARCE, brother Garry PEARCE (Gael,) sister Linda (Bert) and his sister-in-law Jan PEARCE. Predeceased by his brother Darry. Edward had a passion for his career, his church and his community. He was an active member of the Kingston Rotary Club (Paul Harris Fellow recipient), and an active participant of the many activities and ministries of The Salvation Army. On Tuesday, May 17, 2005 our little angel Zachary Alexander VRIEZE was born at the St. Joseph's Hospital, Sudbury, and left us with broken hearts on Friday, May 20, 2005 at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto. Zachary's short life deeply touched the lives of his parents, Bill VRIEZE and Micheline GOUPIL and siblings, Leo, Eric, Julien and Katrine of Sudbury. Dear grand_son of Janet SMITH of Sudbury, Desire ROUCHON of Sudbury, and Marguerite GOUPIL of Sturgeon Falls. Keith ROULSTON of Blyth, Ontario, writes about Harry J. BOYLE, whose obituary appeared on January 24.
As a writer, Harry J. BOYLE always called himself a storyteller and as a boy who grew up a few miles away from St. Augustine where he was born, as I read his books for the first time I saw my own part of the country as important enough to be written about. In a rural area where most people worked with their hands, he raised the possibility that someone could actually write books.
In 1975 when a young Huron County native, James ROY, decided he wanted to come home start a theatre in Blyth, Ontario, that would tell the stories of the people of the region, it was natural that he turned to the stories of Harry J. BOYLE and that decision played a huge part in the founding of the Blyth Festival which has premiered nearly 100 Canadian plays in the 30 years since. With a troupe of young actors he turned stories from Mostly in Clover, Homebrew and Patches and With a Pinch of Sin into the festival's first hit. The rollicking Mostly in Clover that got the festival off to a great start, selling out by the end of the first season and being brought back for the second season before being the festival's first touring show. In 1977, Anne Chislett adapted BOYLE's A Summer Burning into a second hit.
Through the success of the Festival, Mr. BOYLE indirectly played a part in my becoming a playwright there and I was proud to be able to meet and talk to my boyhood hero on several opportunities.

At the Palliative Care Centre, Bluewater Health, Sarnia, Ontario, after a lengthy battle with cancer, Leigh Maurice CROZIER, B.A., L.L.B., Q.C., age 72 years, found peace with family at his side on February 26, 2005. Dear husband of June (GERVAIS,) with whom he was married for 48 years. son of the late Bruce and Beatrice (CAMPBELL,) and cherished brother of Clair (Audrey) CROZIER of Kensington, Prince Edward Island, Lillian (Orville) ROBINSON of Chapleau, Ontario, Dorothy (Cecil) THRASHER of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, and Thane (Helen) CROZIER of Elliot Lake, Ontario. Predeceased by sisters Shirley (Dick) COULING, and baby Esther. Sadly missed by children Kerry (David) DUNLOP, Cathy (Gary) KEAST, both of Forest, Ontario, Bruce (Lisa) CROZIER of Bright's Grove, Ontario, and Melanie (Kelly ROUNDELL) CROZIER of London, Ontario. His special grandchildren, Bill, Daniele, Bryan, Laura, and Riley will miss their fun grandpa, as will a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many cherished Friends.
Leigh was born in Darnley, Prince Edward Island on January 6, 1933, and proudly resided in Forest, Ontario for 35 years. A student of The University of Western Ontario, The University of Toronto, and Osgoode Hall Law School, he was called to the bar and admitted as solicitor in 1958, and appointed Queen's Counsel in 1971. He practiced law in Sarnia for 9 years, and then in Forest for 23 years. Appointed Deputy Judge in Provincial and Small Claims Courts in 1988, Leigh retired from Law in 1997. He was very proud of his community, and became actively involved in The Rotary Club of Forest and The Forest Excelsior Band, and was one of the founders of the North Lambton Arthritis and Rheumatism Society, the North Lambton Chamber of Commerce, and the North Lambton Benefit Foundation. He was also the volunteer coordinator of the North Lambton Community Health Centre, as well as the chairman of the Forest Rotary Library Building Fund and many other local and international activities. Leigh had a particular interest in municipal and provincial politics and held the position of Reeve of Forest, 1978-1980, Deputy Reeve of Forest, 1981-1982, and Member of Lambton County Council, 1979-1982. Leigh has won many distinguished awards, including the Paul Harris Fellowship, the Outstanding Achievement Award for Voluntarism, the Golden Jubilee Award, and the Canada 125th Anniversary Medal. His interests include family, fun parties, the environment, and health issues, and he was an avid reader of Canadian history and "good, clean murder mysteries." Leigh's family will host a celebration of life on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at 7: 00 p.m. at The Forest Legion, Branch 176, Albert Street, Forest, Ontario to celebrate this kind, fun-loving, intelligent man's contribution to his family, Friends, and community. All are welcome. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Victoria Order of Nurses, The Rotary Club of Forest, or the North Lambton Benefit Foundation. It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Harold BARRETT on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at the age of 83. Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, he was a clever, funny and kind man who lived a rich life. His adventures took him to Italy during World War 2. He was also stationed in London, England where he met and married his beautiful wife, Win, after which he worked for Bell Canada until retirement. In later years, he was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 11. Beloved husband of Winifred, brother to Robert, Elma ROUNDELL and Lillian GALLANT. Cherished father of Dennis, Lorraine (and Michael) MORAN, and Christine (and John) BODRUG. Blair and his wife Christine live in Montreal as does their son Steven. Their other son, Michael lives in London, England with his wife Agata and their daughters Kate and Anna. Jim and his wife Leslie live in Saint John's, Newfoundland. Their sons Patrick and Ryan and daughter Shannon attend university in Toronto, Ottawa and Peterborough, respectively. Don and his son Warren live in Whitby. Survived by sister Winnifred RUSK of Owen Sound and brother Doug TOMLINSON of Vancouver. Predeceased by brothers, Wilfred and Mansell TOMLINSON, sister Margery MacINTOSH, and granddaughter, Erin ROURKE. Mildred was born on the farm of her parents, James and Mary TOMLINSON. She went to public school in Keppel Township, continuation school in Hepworth and O.S.C.V.I. for Grade 13. Following normal school in Stratford, she taught in Heathcote and Salem, before getting married in 1938. The couple made their home in Park head until 1988 when they moved to Goderich. Her last several months were spent in Oshawa. 1: 00 p.m. visitation and 2:00 funeral service at the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, 110 Dundas St. East, Whitby, L1N 2H7, on Friday February 4, 2005. Dick was born in Saint Thomas on September 9, 1920, the son of the late Frank and Sarah (ROURKE) CROWE. He was retired from Sun Life Assurance Company and formerly lived in Windsor and London. Dick was a member of Holy Angels' Church and was a member of Saint Thomas Golf and Country Club, the Saint Thomas Curling Club and formerly the Windsor Curling Club. Richard "Dick" Clare of Saint Thomas, on Thursday, March 17, 2005, at the Saint Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in his 85th year. Beloved husband of the late Marion (SPEIGHT) CROWE (June▲ 11, 1992) and dearly loved father of Mike and his wife Rosemary▲ CROWE of Seattle, Washington and Stephen CROWE and his wife Karen▲ of Windsor. Loved grandfather of Michelle and Matthew. Dear brother of Agnes FEARN and her husband the late Chuck FEARN (Dec.▲ 5, 2004) of Saint Thomas and the late Frank and Murray CROWE and the late Mary WOONTON. Dear brother-in-law of Rena SPEIGHT, Saint Thomas, Jean CROWE of Newmarket and Isabelle CROWE of Ancaster, good friend of Marie SCHROEDER of Port Stanley. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews.
Dick was born in Saint Thomas on September 9, 1920, the son of the late Frank and Sarah (ROURKE) CROWE. He was retired from Sun Life Assurance Company and formerly lived in Windsor and London. Dick was a member of Holy Angels' Church and was a member of Saint Thomas Golf and Country Club, the Saint Thomas Curling Club and formerly the Windsor Curling Club. Passed away peacefully in his sleep at Mariann Nursing Home, Richmond Hill, on Wednesday, February 16, 2005, in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Laurette (ROURKE.)
