2 veteran, joining the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry at age 17,
serving much of his duty in Belgium. He later joined John Deere
Canada where he contributed his best, until retirement, after
36 years. Private cremation and interment service. A Memorial
Reception for family and Friends will be announced at a later

Meg passed away in Santa Cruz, California, on December 27, 2004,
just three days before her 96th birthday. Meg was born and raised
in Toronto, on Delaware Ave., north of Bloor St. After completing
school, she ventured south, and settled in Chicago for 20 years,
before moving to Santa Cruz in 1983. She owned and operated a
sporting goods store in Chicago for many years, and was active
there in martial-arts youth programs. In Santa Cruz she was a
charter member of the Scotts Valley Senior Centre, where she
participated in Seniorama for many years. She was an avid singer
and actress, and wrote songs and skits for the revue and for
senior shows. Her elaborate costumes were her own design and
making. She also volunteered as a suicide prevention telephone
counsellor. She enjoyed helping seniors, and, until near the
end, driving them about. Meg always remembered the Toronto of
her youth. Her visits to the city became fewer as the years passed,
but when she came she liked to go and visit the old neighbourhood
of Delaware near Hallam. Much changed over the years, the old
Friends passed on or moved away, but much stayed the same. Her
memories remained fresh. Her husband, James

her generation. She attended Brown School and Havergal College,
became a nurse at the Toronto Central Hospital, and after staying
home with her children, engaged in a 40-year successful career
in real estate at Johnston and Daniel. She continued to be involved
in her many activities right up until the day she died. Not only
was she involved in organizations such as Lawrence Park Community
Church and the Serenata Singers, but also, played excellent bridge,
threw dinner parties for Friends and family at her house, enjoyed
the Muskoka cottage and travelling. She always kept in touch
with Friends in good times and bad. She left this message for
us: "Let not your hearts be troubled. I have lived long and well
and have had and given lots of fun and laughter." The family
will receive Friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles
Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East),
on Tuesday between 6-8 p.m. Funeral services to be held on Wednesday
