LEMMON,

Mom's gentle but strong spirit courageously endured an 18-year
struggle with Alzheimer's. Facing her illness with dignity and
strength, she showered family and fellow residents with kind
gestures, loving words, and laughter. Her innate graciousness
and beauty prevailed to her final moments. Although Mom worked
for years in the retail business, her main joy and focus was
her family. How blessed we were to have had her as a wife (Randal,
Edgar), a mother (Diana, Sherry, Barbie, Mary Lynn), a sister
(Victor and Pauline), a grandmother (Randal, Keleigh, Abraham,
Joshua, Jason), and great-grandmother (Owen, Colt, Callum). Her
whistling song has stopped but her melody will forever remain
with us. Words fail to describe our gratitude to Mom's caregiver,
Beth RODRIGO, who selflessly and lovingly provided Mom the best
of care for 8 years. The Alzheimer Society would appreciate donations

Man dies after dive at Trout Lake Park
By Hugo RODRIGUES,
Special to The Free Press
Woodstock -- A Kitchener man hurt in a diving accident at Trout
Lake Park has died, the park's second water-related fatality
in 10 days.
Patrick Darrell
GRAY/GREY, 34, died yesterday at London Health Sciences
Centre, police said.
The case has been turned over to a coroner in London, who was
to perform an autopsy yesterday.
On Saturday,
GRAY/GREY jumped from the highest diving board at the
former quarry in Innerkip and struck another swimmer's knee with
his head as he hit the water, Oxford Community police said.
GRAY/GREY had not waited for the area to clear before jumping, police
said.
Former
Woodstock resident James
DRABICK, 22, died after jumping
off the same, 6.5-metre diving board at the park on June 26.
Police can only appeal to the public's common sense to guard
against such tragedies in the water, said Oxford Const. Bob
McDONALD.
"It's impossible to legislate common sense," he said.
Swimming areas such as Trout Lake Park or the Pittock Conservation
Area are private and a grey area when it comes to minimum safety
standards, which are applied to supervised swimming areas, said
Mike BRAGG,
Oxford
County director of public health and emergency
services.
"It doesn't meet the definition of a public swimming area," he
said.
This year is not the first time tragedy has struck at Trout Lake.
There have been at least three other drownings at the park since
Leonard Eugene
WEILER drowned June 12, 1988, when he went swimming
at the park after drinking and smoking hashish.
Two scuba divers died at the park during a winter dive.
The owners of the dive school were found negligent in that incident
in 1991.
A Kitchener resident was injured at the park June 13, 1993, when
he dived into the lake and struck some rocks.
