life for more than 70 years. His loss deeply saddens brother
Kenneth and wife Nancy, and youngest sister Patricia and husband
Len.
His essence abides in the hearts of his children and their spouses,
Elliott Christopher and Betty, Erica Jane and Wayne, and Knowlson
Aubrey and Margaret. He is sadly missed by his seven grandchildren
and spouses: Tracy
LEE and David, Ethan D'Arcy and Anita, Simon
Christopher and Susie, Elliott Milne, Noël William, Emily Helen,
and Graham Leslie; and six great-grandchildren: Peer Mathew,
Hannah Jane, Sophia Madeline, Emil Ethan, Fraser Brock, James
William.
Uncle Brock is also missed by his loving nephews and nieces:
Paul, Jimi, Anne, Michael, and Valerie.
Brock graduated from Mount Alison University with a bachelor's
degree cum laude, where he was editor of The Argosy, a weekly
university publication. Following graduation he was school principal
in Black's Harbour, New Brunswick from 1936-38. He served with
the Canadian Intelligence Corp. overseas in England, the Netherlands,
Italy and Germany from 1943-46. From 1947-65 he was employed
by the Department of Educational Research at the Ontario College
of Education in Toronto.
In 1965 Brock was made an Associate Professor at the Ontario
Institute for Studies in Education and subsequently attained
Full Professorship on the merit of his research and publications.
He was an acknowledged expert in the field of education administration
with an emphasis on school finance, and published over 60 articles
in his field. He was a member of the original Scarborough Board
of Education in 1955. Following his retirement from Ontario Institute
for Studies in Education, Brock was Chaplain for the Don Heights
Unitarian Congregation and officiated at over 300 ceremonies.
Brock was a dedicated and deeply involved supporter and member
of the Unitarian community in Toronto, initially with the First
Unitarian Church on St. Clair and later with the Don Heights
congregation.
Brock held a life-long belief in social justice and the common
good. He generously supported the New Democratic Party and a
wide variety of local and global charities.
He will be deeply missed by those of us who loved, admired and
respected him. Funeral service will be held at The First Unitarian
Church, 175 St. Clair Avenue West (west of Avenue Road), on Friday
afternoon at 1: 00 p.m., with visitation commencing at noon. If
desired, a remembrance to the charity of your choice would be
appreciated by the family.

She attended S.S. No. 8, Edgeley, Weston High School and Dominion
Business College, and worked at Canada Life, Toronto before moving
to Beamsville and then Kitchener. Helen was an active member
of Calvary United Church and United Church Women. A Celebration
of Life will take place at Calvary United Church, 92 Gruhn Street,
Kitchener on Saturday, October 29, 2005 at 2 p.m. Visitation
will take place at the Church from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Donations
may be made to Calvary United Church Memorial Organ Fund as expressions
of sympathy and can be arranged through the Edward R. Good Funeral
