CATTERSON, Sylvia Roberta (DOERKSEN)
Sylvia was born on April 2, 1951 and passed away peacefully on November 4, 2005. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Sarah CATTERSON of Toronto, Ontario. Sylvia will be dearly missed by her partner for life, Rick STANLEY of Parksville, British Columbia. She also leaves to mourn, her brothers, Jim (Judy) CATTERSON of Westbank, British Columbia, Marshall (Daphne) CATTERSON of Nanaimo, British Columbia, her sisters, Jean (Bill) RIDD of Georgetown, Ontario and Carol (David) HACKER of Toronto, Ontario. Sylvia's passing is also a sad loss to her nieces and nephews, Marshall, Kevin, Bonnie, Sarah and Kathryn. There is a void in our home which is evident in how her cat, Patch and her dogs, Jasmine and Ushi, continue to wait for her return. Sylvia was lovingly active with her extended family and made numerous good Friends as she moved west across this country, having emigrated from Northern Ireland as a young girl. Sylvia was forever grateful to her special caregiver, her sister-in-law Connie BARBER of Hopkins Landing, British Columbia. Sylvia, you will be sorely missed as your body vanishes from our lives, but be comforted to know that your spirit lives on, and although we are all saddened by our loss, your sense of humour and love will forever be cherished.
A celebration of Sylvia's life was held on Saturday, November 12, 2005 at the Yates Funeral Service and Crematorium in Parksville, B.C.

Father to Joan (Clem SHARP) and David (Anna.) Grandfather to Lyaca (Tim RIDDLE), Dalen (Anji), Kelly, Kemayla (James FLEMING/FLEMMING), Braedon, and Michael. Great-grandfather to C.J., Austin, Trudon, Miranda, Alystra, Sevoya, and Rachel. Loved brother of Eileen (GOULD- BAILEY), Morley, Florence (Wilkinson), Melbourne, and Grant. Glen was born on a farm in Sandford just north of Uxbridge. He lived and worked most of his life in Toronto as a banker for the Toronto Dominion Bank. In retirement Glen returned to Uxbridge. Predeceased by his mother Florence (née CHASE) and his father Eric Aubrey, by his brother Douglas, and sisters Ruth, Dorothy and Alice. Brock will be most specially missed by his dear wife Mary▼ (née ELLIOT/ELLIOTT) who has been a part of his life for more than 70 years. His loss deeply saddens brother Kenneth and wife Nancy, and youngest sister Patricia and husband Len.
His essence abides in the hearts of his children and their spouses, Elliott Christopher and Betty, Erica Jane and Wayne, and Knowlson Aubrey and Margaret. He is sadly missed by his seven grandchildren and spouses: Tracy LEE and David, Ethan D'Arcy and Anita, Simon Christopher and Susie, Elliott Milne, Noël William, Emily Helen, and Graham Leslie; and six great-grandchildren: Peer Mathew, Hannah Jane, Sophia Madeline, Emil Ethan, Fraser Brock, James William.
Uncle Brock is also missed by his loving nephews and nieces: Paul, Jimi, Anne, Michael, and Valerie.
Brock graduated from Mount Alison University with a bachelor's degree cum laude, where he was editor of The Argosy, a weekly university publication. Following graduation he was school principal in Black's Harbour, New Brunswick from 1936-38. He served with the Canadian Intelligence Corp. overseas in England, the Netherlands, Italy and Germany from 1943-46. From 1947-65 he was employed by the Department of Educational Research at the Ontario College of Education in Toronto.
In 1965 Brock was made an Associate Professor at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education and subsequently attained Full Professorship on the merit of his research and publications. He was an acknowledged expert in the field of education administration with an emphasis on school finance, and published over 60 articles in his field. He was a member of the original Scarborough Board of Education in 1955. Following his retirement from Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, Brock was Chaplain for the Don Heights Unitarian Congregation and officiated at over 300 ceremonies. Brock was a dedicated and deeply involved supporter and member of the Unitarian community in Toronto, initially with the First Unitarian Church on St. Clair and later with the Don Heights congregation.
Brock held a life-long belief in social justice and the common good. He generously supported the New Democratic Party and a wide variety of local and global charities.
He will be deeply missed by those of us who loved, admired and respected him. Funeral service will be held at The First Unitarian Church, 175 St. Clair Avenue West (west of Avenue Road), on Friday afternoon at 1: 00 p.m., with visitation commencing at noon. If desired, a remembrance to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

MINIELLY, Helen Christina Maud (née STONG)
Born in Weston (York Twp. York Co.), Ontario on November 4, 1910. Died in Beaverton on October 23, 2005, twelve days short of her 95th birthday. Beloved wife of the late Harold Simpson MINIELLY (2003.) Only daughter of the late Jacob Wesley STONG and Charlotte BALL. Survived by loving children Brian MINIELLY (Debby) of Owen Sound and Ruth RIDEOUT of Beaverton, and devoted grandchildren Jesse (Lâlé) MINIELLY, Laura MINIELLY, and Heather ROBINSON (Mike.) She attended S.S. No. 8, Edgeley, Weston High School and Dominion Business College, and worked at Canada Life, Toronto before moving to Beamsville and then Kitchener. Helen was an active member of Calvary United Church and United Church Women. A Celebration of Life will take place at Calvary United Church, 92 Gruhn Street, Kitchener on Saturday, October 29, 2005 at 2 p.m. Visitation will take place at the Church from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Donations may be made to Calvary United Church Memorial Organ Fund as expressions of sympathy and can be arranged through the Edward R.
