Brother and brother-in-law of Joyce and Dick BROUWER of Dorchester, Thea BERDAN of Richmond Hill, Art "Bunky" JANSEN Jr. and Alice VANDEVEN, Ann and Julius HALSEMA, Rita and Marcel OTTEN all of Dorchester. Special son-in-law of Pauline SMEENK of Woodstock and the late Ted SMEENK Sr. Brother-in-law to Frank and Janice SMEENK of Kleinburg, Rob and Sylvie SMEENK of Saint Marys, Helena Smeenk PRITCHARD and Wayne PRITCHARD of London, Brian SMEENK of Toronto, Ted SMEENK Jr. and Maria ROOS of Woodstock, Ben SMEENK and Monique CERESNEY of Canmore, Alberta, Tom and Sandy SMEENK of Oakville, Richard SMEENK and Kyla SCULLION of Uxbridge. Great Uncle of Hannah, Miles, Nathaniel, Gwen, Kyla and Emma. Pete was born in Hillegom, The Netherlands and was 11 years old when his family immigrated to Canada. They settled in the London area with the dream of building a business. Pete's destiny was to work in the greenhouse. From a very young age, he loved to accompany his father to the greenhouses where he worked. So while his parents worked elsewhere to provide a steady income, Pete was instrumental in the growth of the family business from its inception. Eventually he took over the business from his parents and has steadily and successfully built it to what it is today. Through the years he employed many family members and students and taught them an admirable work ethic. He worked right along with his staff and found it very difficult when he became ill and could no longer work. Pete was an admired Boy Scout Leader and a founding member of the London and District Florists Association. Special thanks to Dr. KERR, Dr. PERERA and Mary Liz. Your compassion for and care of Pete during his four years of treatment greatly helped ease his journey. Also thank you to the special women (ie Nurses) of Victorial Hospital who helped him through his final week. Pete touched the lives of all who knew him! He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered. Cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will be held in the Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North (2 blocks north of Oxford) on Thursday from 6: 00-9:00 p.m. as well as one hour prior to the memorial service. The family invites all to attend the celebration of his life on Friday, November 11th, 2005 at 11: 00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Pete's ashes will then be inurned at St. Peter's Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the London Health Sciences Foundation - Cancer Centre would be appreciated.

PRITCHARD, David -- Dispatch
By Jordan PRESS, Saturday, March 26, 2005, Page M4
Radio listeners never knew what they were going to hear when David PRITCHARD took to the Disk Jockey booth. One night he piped up in the middle of a pop song and told listeners, "later we'll chop some chives with Charles Ives." Some nights he would look at whoever was at the station with him and begin one of his 10-minute esoteric conversations. "Uh... uh... John," he would start, according to fellow disc-jockey John DONABIE, who met Mr. PRITCHARD in the 1970s when the two were at CHUM-FM. 'I notice you have a staple in your arm. Are you for sale?'
"He would go so deep into somewhere, and it would all make sense," says Mr. DONABIE, now the weekend morning man at CFRB.
Mr. PRITCHARD was a musician and an artist, but is best remembered as an influential local radio host from the end of the era when Disk Jockeys -- not corporate programmers -- picked the play lists. He died of cancer on February 27 at age 60.
"Everyone believed that no one could be that creative... without doing something," Mr. DONABIE says, referring to the drugs that fuelled the period. But "David didn't even smoke cigarettes."
Mr. PRITCHARD was born on October 18, 1944, in London, England, and moved with his family to North York in 1952. As a teenager, he started his own pirate radio station he called CBIG by rigging up a microphone and an antenna to broadcast across his Willowdale neighbourhood.
He rose to prominence in 1968 when he became the late-night man at CHUM, where it wasn't unheard of him to broadcast classical, jazz and electronic records simultaneously on the station's three turntables, Mr. DONABIE says.
He would also play his own experimental electronic compositions. "But he would always say a listener named Fred had sent in some new music," says Jim BAUER, who worked with Mr. PRITCHARD at CHUM. " People listening on the air had no idea it was David."
In 1969, he married Libby GRAHAM and they had two children, Christian, now 32, and Fraser, now 29.
Shortly after Fraser was born, Mr. PRITCHARD became the first program director for then-fledgling CFNY in 1977. He continued to make music, becoming the first North American to be signed by Island Records, the same label as U2 and Bob Marley. He was also a visual artist, creating many collages and paintings that now hang on the walls of his Friends' homes.
While he had opportunities to take more lucrative jobs, he was always more interested in art than money, his son Christian says.

DAVIDSON, Mary Janet (ARMSTRONG)
Mary Janet ARMSTRONG was born November 23, 1911 on a farm on Kennedy Road, near Unionville, Ontario. She died on March 16, 2005 at Memorial Hospital in Mission, British Columbia. She was the daughter of the late Leslie ARMSTRONG and Charlotte LENNOX dear sister of Margaret PRITCHARD and the late Robert ARMSTRONG beloved wife of the late Bruce DAVIDSON; loving mother of Jean and her husband, Allen AICKEN; a much-loved 'Auntie Mary' to a host of nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by many Friends and relatives of all ages. She was a mentor, church and charity volunteer, and quiet benefactor of good causes in her local community and abroad.
The deaths of her parents at a young age gave her a sensitivity to vulnerable children. Teaching at Birch Cliff Heights and Frankland Schools, she nurtured and nourished many struggling pupils in depression-era and wartime Toronto. Marriage brought a return to farm life, on the Davidson homestead in Agincourt then on the farm in Stouffville. She was active in the Presbyterian Churches in Agincourt and Stouffville, in Women's Institute, in 4-H, and many other causes.
After never living further than 15 miles from her birthplace, she undertook the big adventure, at age 92, of moving to Maple Ridge, British Columbia to live with Jean and Allen. She embraced this courageously, and enjoyed looking at the mountains, the Fraser River, the farm animals in the fields, and the cat on the porch.
Her final illness came suddenly and her departure from this world was gentle.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Whonnock, British Columbia, the Rev David Findley- Price officiating.
Private interment at Knox Cemetery, Agincourt, the Reverend Kathryn STRACHAN officiating.
A memorial service will be held at Unionville Presbyterian Church, 600 Village Parkway, Unionville, on Saturday, April 30, 2005 at 1: 30 p.m., the Reverend Gordon TIMBERS officiating. The family will receive Friends from 12 noon at the church.
No flowers please; memorial donations may be made to Presbyterian World Service and Development, 50 Wynford Dr., Toronto, Ontario M3C 1J7.
