George was a graduate of South Secondary School, 1942, and the
University of Western Ontario H.B.A., 1946. George joined Texaco
in 1946, General Motors Diesel Ltd. 1950 and Northern Life Insurance
Co. 1963. He was president of Northern Life 1973-1985. A volunteer
for many years, served on the board of University of Western
Ontario, St. Joseph's Health Centre, Lawson Research Institute
and London Community Foundation. He was past president of the
U.W.O. Alumni Association, London Regional Art Gallery and founding
member of U.W.O. Spring Festival and Foundation Western. George
received the U.W.O. Alumni Award of Merit in 1985. He served
as president of the Lamb's Club, London Hunt Club and The London
Club. A funeral service will be conducted at First St. Andrews
United Church, 350 Queens Ave., on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at
2: 00 p.m. with visitation 1 hour before service with Reverend Dr.
Susan SHELSTAD officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to

Passed away at Kingston General Hospital after a courageous battle
with cancer on Tuesday, October 11, 2005, in his 79th year. Predeceased
by his wife Marian. Loving father of Joseph (Megan), John Hugh
(Hala), Andrew (Suzanne), Mary Alice (Ernie), and Stephen (Laura).
Cherished "Grampy Don" to his 10 grandchildren. Don will be lovingly
remembered by his companion Margaret

October 13 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral
Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). Funeral
Mass at St. Edward Church (75 Churchill Avenue), on Friday, October
14, 2005 at 9: 30 a.m. Interment to follow at York Cemetery. Donations
may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Kingston General
Hospital.
