of Toronto, a product of Lawrence Park, Bill was a King Scout
in his youth. Bill served with distinction as a flight lieutenant
during World War 2 and flew with both the Royal Air Force (201
Squadron) and Royal Canadian Air Force (423 Squadron) completing
over one hundred operational flights. In 1946 he joined Beneficial
Finance Company of Canada and over the next twenty-seven years
he assumed greater managerial authority and resided in Toronto,
Ontario, Syracuse, New York and Short Hills, New Jersey. Bill
retired as President and Director of Beneficial Management Corporation,
a New York Stock Exchange corporation. Moving back to Canada,
he came out of retirement to become President of The Trust Companies
Association of Canada from 1973 to 1987, followed by directorships
on a number of corporate and bank boards in the U.S.A. and Canada.

community of Brooklin/Whitby/Oshawa region. After Bill's death
in 1988, she lived in their Brooklin home until 2002 before moving
to Toronto. Margaret will be remembered for her lively and affectionate
interest in all the people with whom she came in contact, for
her wide-ranging volunteer commitments and for the strong support

of Toronto, a product of Lawrence Park, Bill was a King Scout
in his youth. Bill served with distinction as a flight lieutenant
during World War 2 and flew with both the Royal Air Force (201
Squadron) and Royal Canadian Air Force (423 Squadron) completing
over one hundred operational flights. In 1946 he joined Beneficial
Finance Company of Canada and over the next twenty-seven years
he assumed greater managerial authority and resided in Toronto,
Ontario, Syracuse, New York and Short Hills, New Jersey. Bill
retired as President and Director of Beneficial Management Corporation,
a New York Stock Exchange corporation. Moving back to Canada,
he came out of retirement to become President of The Trust Companies
Association of Canada from 1973 to 1987, followed by directorships
on a number of corporate and bank boards in the U.S.A. and Canada.
Many thanks to all those who, over recent months, have shown
great compassion and skill, especially the physicians and nursing
staff at York Central Hospital, Richmond Hill, 3rd Floor North
Cardiac Wing. A special note of gratitude is extended to Dr.

Suddenly, on Friday, March 4, 2005 at St. Joseph's Hospital in
his 85th year, dear husband of Edith (née

At the time of his passing he was lovingly surrounded by his
family. Bill was the beloved father of 6 children: Diane (Hal),
John (Suzanne), Bob (Margo), Marian (Larry), Mark (Diane), Valerie
(Terry). Grandfather to 12 grandchildren: Jeff, Christine, Scott,
Becky, Wendy, Rob, Andrea, Tim, David, Steven, Jason, Alyson,
and great-grandfather to Jackson. Bill spent 47 years of fellowship
with the Humber Valley Kiwanis Club. He was well known in the
Thorncrest Village area as the proprietor of Potter Hardware
up until his retirement 31 years ago. Many Friends will hold
fond memories of Bill's 72 summers at Pleasant Point (near Lindsay).

to Toronto in 1923 with her family and married William Reynolds
MORRISON in 1938. In 1940, Shirley-Anne was born, who became
Mrs.

James
SMITH in 1958. Evelyn and Bill operated a corner
store (Becky's Variety) in the Beaches area of Scarborough for
8 years. Widowed in 1980, Evelyn later moved to Russell, Ontario,
with her granddaughter. She was Nana to three grandchildren,
Rebecca Evelyn (1959), David William John (1961) and Jacob Rand
(1973). David and Shaela presented her with three great-grandchildren,
Nathaniel William John (1986), Matthew David (1989), and Molly
Evelyn (1991). Rebecca adopted Amy Elizabeth Chun-Feng in 2001
(born 2000), and Emily Kathleen Lin-Xia in 2004 (born 2003).
Jacob and Carrie had Evelyn Victoria in 2005. Evelyn was loved
