80, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2005 in Mesa, Arizona. Born in Lead, South Dakota he became the world's youngest Eagle Scout and multiple letterman at Lead High School. He served with distinction in World War 2. A graduate of the South Dakota School of Mines he had a career as an engineer eventually becoming President of the Canadian Portland Cement Association. He is survived by loving wife Ardyce, daughter Lanette FINICAL and her husband Allen, son Jed DECORY and his partner Dominique GIGUÈRE, grandchildren Jessica and Sean DECORY and surrogate children Vivian POOLEY, Dagmar SIMONS and her husband Don, Tony CHRISTIE, Heather CHRISTIE, Max MacCRIMMON and his wife Pat and 10 surrogate grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Isabel McDONALD and the late Ivy, Thomas, Allan, Kenneth, and Victor, and brother-in-law to Grace POOLTON and Len McDONALD. Born in 1918 to parents Thomas POOLTON and Violet CURTIS, Jack was taken to Kapuskasing at 3 months of age. Jack joined the Royal Regiment of Canada in April 1940. Served in Iceland, United Kingdom, Dieppe Raid and was a prisoner of war and survivor of the Nazi Death March. Author of biography "Destined to Survive". Appeared on television and radio. Member of Royal Canadian Legion, Royal Regiment Association and Dieppe Veterans Association. Was awarded the Excellence in Education Award for 2005 for sharing his stories with students for over 12 years. Bass drummer in the Scarborough Pipe Band and Orillia Pipe Band. Formerly of Kapuskasing, Scarborough and Orillia. Will be sadly missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Jennifer passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on Monday, March 14, 2005. She is survived by her brother Gilbert and predeceased by her twin brother Paul and parents Adele LEROY and Courtney GREGORY. Jennifer taught for 20 years with the Toronto, Edmonton, and Calgary Boards of Education; her love of travel and adventurous spirit led her on many journeys worldwide. Jennifer thanks Dr. Sandi PATTERSON, Dr. Barb WALLEY and the amazing staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre; as well as her two healers Bonnie SCARBOROUGH and Carol POON who showed her how to balance her life. She is survived by 9 children: Lane, Anne (Jack), Arie (Mauricio), Sita (Harvey), Rita (John), Jan (Maria), Jean (Steve), Jeannette (Piet), Ben (Michele), 32 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren. Maria will also be missed by her son-in-law Wietze LUINSTRA and by Margaret POOT and Shirley POOT. Friends were received at the Scott Funeral Home "Brampton Chapel," 289 Main St. N., Brampton (905-451-1100) on Friday, from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service was held in the Chapel on Saturday, May 28, 2005 at 10: 30 a.m. Interment St. Paul's Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Vaughan. No flowers.
