SWIST, Daniel J. passed away on January 13, 2005 in Henderson, Nevada. Daniel was born on August 19, 1919 in Manchester, New Hampshire to the late Emilia and Jacob SWIST. He graduated the University of Alabama where he earned a B. S. degree in Business Administration and Accounting. His entire Business School senior class enlisted in the military after Pearl Harbor and he served in the combat infantry in France, Germany and Holland, receiving several commendations. Later, he graduated from the Boston University Law School and began a career in government. He worked in Washington, D.C. for the State Department, the Department of Labor and the Treasury Department's Internal Revenue Service. Daniel married the love of his life, Wilda Ethel GALLOWAY on November 27, 1963. In 1976, he and Wilda retired to Clearwater, Florida and later moved to Phoenix, Arizona. His beloved wife Wilda died on September 1, 1998 and the light went out of his life. He is also predeceased by his sister, Wanda PIEKOS. He is survived by a host of nieces: Sonia-Kay KEIRSTEAD of Tallahassee, Florida; Janie M. RAY of Lowell, Massachusetts; Sheila HATT, Helen SAWCHUK, Edith GALLOWAY, Virginia WYLDE, Wilda MARDLIN, June EDWARDS, Mary Lou DOUGLAS/DOUGLASS, Cathy GALLOWAY, and Dr. Susan Burgess NESBITT, all of Canada, and two nephews also of Canada, Charles BURGESS and Thomas GALLOWAY. A military and memorial service will take place for both Daniel and Wilda SWIST at the National Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona on March 10, 2005 at 1: 00 p.m.

Mary Pauline (McCANDLESS) WATERS drifted from sleep to eternity, whereupon she was found by her life long friend Mrs. Mary PIERCE and daughter Laurie. A dearer friend no one could deny. To you Aunt Mary, Laurie, Clifford, Edward, Michelle and family we are eternally grateful. You were the nucleus of her world, her family. She loved and cherished you all. Loving arms and outstretched hands will greet Mary in her new world; her wonderful and devoted parents Vila and Evan McCANDLESS, who adored her, her loving companion Sig, who loved and supported her in mid-life. Lost in grief and missing her terribly are her twin daughters Emily Gayle SCHROEDER and Paula Jane (Miriam) FARBIASZ. There▼ with her daughters stands "The Little One" Maureen (STEVENS) NESBITT. William (Bill) B., age 91, of Woodstock passed away in hospital in London on Wednesday May 4, 2005. Beloved husband of Jean PIERCE (PATTINSON) of Woodstock and father of Beverly of Chicago and Mary of London. Special Grandfather of Avril and Madeline LANG of London and Father-in-law of Quintin LANG. Uncle of Mary MADDEN, Margaret JAMES and Tommy KIDD of Ireland. Predeceased by his brother Francis, sister Eleanor and sister Annie, all of Ireland.
Bill was born in Ballyroebuck, County Wexford, Ireland in 1914. He emigrated to Canada in 1949 and lived and worked in Woodstock for 55 years. He was a dedicated employee at Standard Tube Limited, a long time member of All Saints Anglican Church where he sang in the choir. He was an enthusiast in the Knox Presbyterian Church men's disking league for over 40 years. He had a passion for gardening and carpentry which he enjoyed extensively until his 90th year. Gill passed away comfortably at home surrounded by Friends and family, both four legged and two legged, after an illness fought with great spirit and good humour. Eldest daughter of Allan and Elsie KING, and dear wife of Allan William (George) LUXTON. She will be dearly missed by more-than-son Kirk HARRIS, Vikki LEARMONT and grand_son Tyson. Well-loved sister of Jack and Linda KING (Calgary,) Keith and Karen KING (Ajax,) and Shelley KING and John PIERCE (Kingston) and loving aunt to Darren and Katie KING, Cory and Jenna KING, Kelly and Jarl NORTHWOOD, Laura and John DOW, and Travis KING; she cherished the continuing bloodline in Karley, Jaimie, Coleman, and John Daniel. Born on January 31, 1919 to Albert and Alice (BAILEY) CORFIELD of Zealandia, Saskatchewan, Cliff served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as an airplane mechanic and navigator during World War 2. A sports fan, he played amateur baseball for Crosstown Motors and worked as an auto mechanic in Toronto, and then in Fredericton, retiring in 1984. He is survived by his children, Bill, Saint John, New Brunswick, Judy SUGAR, Reno, Nevada, Ken, Grimsby, Ontario, June, Toronto, Marilyn PIERCE, Burlington, Ontario, Dale, Milton, Ontario, Kathy, Toronto 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren, second wife, Thirza (Teddy,) Toronto, and brother, Harold SPARKS, Zealandia. Dearly beloved wife of 59 years to Wilbur (Wib) PIERCE, passed away December 5, 2005, at St. Peter's Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer, in her 85th year. She is survived by her husband, son Frederick, his dear wife Chris and two cherished grandchildren, Michelle and David. Eva was predeceased by her parents, two brothers and one sister. Survived also by many nieces, nephews, cousins and two sisters-in-law. Eva was a stay-at-home mom, valuing the many hours she spent volunteering in the communities she lived in, in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. She especially valued her Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire associates and her various aid groups and was long-time "Rotary Ann" and a "Paul Harris Fellow" of Rotary International. Eva had a lifelong interest in sports, especially favouring golf and curling, and was proud of the medals and trophies won, showing her skills. She was a very enthusiastic fan! The family wish to express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and many volunteers involved in Eva's care at the Henderson Hospital, the Juravinski Cancer Centre, McMaster Hospital and finally in the St. Peter's Palliative Care Hospital. The nursing care and displayed compassion have been exemplary and inspiring, bringing comfort to Eva and the family. They should all wear "halos". Eva will be greatly missed by her family and many relatives and Friends. At her request, cremation and a private family service has taken place. At a later date she will be laid to rest in Reston, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of choice is appreciated.
