HARRIS, Standish Alan (1901-2005)
On August 14th, 2005 Alan passed away peacefully at his country home in Caledon, in his 105th year. Adoring husband of the late Naomi Francis (PICK) and stepfather to her son the late Robert Sholto DOUGLAS/DOUGLASS. Loving 'Pappy' to Margot CURRY and family and Michael DOUGLAS/DOUGLASS and family. Uncle Alan to Alan HODGINS, Mel HODGINS, Betty McWHINNIE, Jim HARRIS, Aldine BEAUMONT and their families. After leaving his home in Kilmallock, County Limerick and graduating from Trinity College in Dublin Alan made his way to Toronto. He had a brief job with the T. Eaton Co. and then landed the job he wanted, to teach. He became a teacher at Upper Canada College and was there from 1925-1965. Alan was a most admired and respected teacher. He loved the challenge of teaching Mathematics and was at his best when dealing with those who found the subject difficult. He was the head of the Mathematics Department for 30 years. Upper Canada College's property in Norval was a great love of Alan's and he personally supervised and assisted with the planting of thousands of trees there, results of his efforts are remembered as the 'Harris Arboretum'. After his wife's death Alan moved to his property in Caledon with his dog Rheba. He maintained a first-rate vegetable garden and wonderful flowerbeds. He also spent many years reforesting this property. He fed countless birds each winter and took great joy in his last years observing them with his binoculars on the bird feeder outside his living room. Much to the delight of many visitors Alan had the chickadees feeding from their hands. Alan had wonderful loving care over the last few years from Margot and Shane CURRY, Wendy DARROW, Thierry FOURNIER, Nancy WENGLEWICK, Evelyn BUNKER, Nancy SINCLAIR and Diane McKENZIE and her Victorian Order of Nurses team. Also Dr. Stuart BIRNIE and Elizabeth BIRNIE. A private family funeral service was held at the Egan Funeral Home, Bolton on Wednesday, August 17. Interment of cremated remains at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto.

MIGUS, Ronald P. (October 24, 1929-May 10, 2005)
After a long struggle with PICK's Disease, Ron died peacefully at Maple Villa Long Term Care Centre in Burlington, with his loving wife of 52 years, Lucy (née YAREMKO,) sister-in-law Ann and family friend Eileen all by his side. Ron was born in 1929 in Montreal to Kornel and Paraskeva MIGUS. Ron lived in Montreal until 1946 when he and his family moved to a farm in Beamsville where he attended Beamsville High School graduating with honours in 1948. Ron graduated from the University of Toronto with a B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (1953) and a Master of Commerce (1955). Ron's 38 year career with General Motors began in St. Catharines (McKinnon, Indiana) as a student. He held various positions until 1974 when, he became Plant Manager of the Oshawa Fabrication Plant. In 1978, Ron returned to St. Catharines as Regional Manager and remained in that capacity until his retirement in 1990. During his tenure at General Motors, Ron was an avid supporter of the Saint John's Ambulance and was honoured to be both a Serving Brother and Officer of the Order of Saint John. In 1979, Ron was appointed to the Board of Governors of the St. Catharines General Hospital and served as Chairman of the Board, from 1989 to 1995. During his time as Chairman, the hospital acquired Niagara's first Connecticut scanner and redeveloped its emergency department. Ron was a member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. George and the St. Catharines Gyro Club. Ron leaves Lucy, his loving wife, son David and his wife Michele and two beautiful grandchildren, Samantha and Thomas. Ron was predeceased by his parents Kornel and Paraskeva and his brother Joe. He is survived by his sisters Mary CHATTERTON (late Keith,) Anne SHEILS (Robert) and brothers Morris (Helen) and Steve (Luciene). He will also be greatly missed by his family by marriage: Anne HOLOTA (late Dennis,) Gilberte YAREMKO (late Michael,) Peter YAREMKO (Frances,) Mike HISH (late Lena,) Fred YAREMKO (Joyce,) Jeanette COOKE (late Bob,) Rosalie YAREMKO, Robert YAREMKO (Pam,) and Hon. John YAREMKO (late Mary,) and his nieces, nephews and their families. Dear brother of Fr. Charles McMANUS of Saint Thomas, Jean and her husband Dr. Ed SCHNIEDER/SNIDER/SNYDER of Knoxville, Tennessee. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Edward was born in Saint Thomas, on August 31, 1927, the son of the late Patrick and Blanche (WILKINSON) McMANUS. He was a member of Holy Angels' Church, an Honourary life member of the Knights of Columbus and an avid dart player. Ed was a retired engineer with the New York Central Railroad, Con-Rail and the C. and O. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas until Tuesday morning and then to Holy Angels' Church where Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10: 30 a.m. Interment to follow in Holy Angels' Cemetery. Beloved husband of Bernadette (BYRNE) McMANUS and dearly loved father of John McMANUS of Toronto, Maureen DODD and her husband James of Saint Thomas, Julie PICKARD and her husband David of Uxbridge and loved grandfather of Christopher McMANUS, Evan,▲ Elizabeth and Emily DODD, Erin,▲ Jameson▲ and Kathleen PICKARD and the late infant grand daughter Julia PICKARD. Dear brother of Fr. Charles McMANUS of Saint Thomas, Jean and her husband Dr. Ed SCHNIEDER/SNIDER/SNYDER of Knoxville, Tennessee. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Edward was born in Saint Thomas, on August 31, 1927, the son of the late Patrick and Blanche (WILKINSON) McMANUS. He was a member of Holy Angels' Church, an Honourary life member of the Knights of Columbus and an avid dart player. Ed was a retired engineer with the New York Central Railroad, Con-Rail and the C. and O. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas until Tuesday morning and then to Holy Angels' Church where Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10: 30 a.m. Interment to follow in Holy Angels' Cemetery. Visitation Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Monday at 4: 00 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Holy Angels' Church Restoration Fund or to Serenity House Hospice.

O'LEARY, Patrick Timothy (May 25, 1953-June 5, 2005)
Suddenly, on June 5th 2005, Patrick peacefully passed away in his 53rd year. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: James, Samantha and Sarah and his former wife Briony O'LEARY (LAYFIELD.) Pat's mother, Rita O'LEARY (MORKIN,) brother Dan (Langley, British Columbia,) sisters Maureen (Tom PICKARD) and Shelagh (Andrea ONGARO, Newmarket, Ontario,) will fondly remember the twinkle in his eye and his quiet but heartfelt laughter. His niece Carleigh and his many nephews: Dan, Brent, Shawn, Chris, Ryan and Zachary, will greatly miss their gentle uncle. Pat was predeceased by his loving father Hugh J. O'LEARY just last fall. Patrick was loved and will be missed by his numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and Friends.
Some of Patrick's many interests included gourmet cooking, music of all genres and all things Irish. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Diabetes Association. There will be a family memorial service held at the St. Peter's Cemetery Holy Family Chapel Thursday, June 9th at 11 a.m. Pat, you will live on in our hearts forever. Rest in peace.

Passed away suddenly on Remembrance Day, Friday, November 11, 2005. Jim resided in Milverton and was formerly of London. He was born 72 years ago in Monkton and was the son of the late Alfred and Loretta (SHINE) ANDERSON. Jim worked for the Department of National Defense in London for many years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 565, Milverton and was a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the Royal Canadian Regiment. Beloved partner of Wilma GINGERICH of Milverton.
