Leslie had a long and hard battle for over 20 years, she passed away quietly and peacefully with her loving husband by her side on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at the William Osler Health Centre, Brampton Site. She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband Paul, and her cherished son Connor. Leslie is a beloved sister to Lee MIKLOS, a loving daughter to Norm and Pat CARROLL and daughter-in-law to Joan and Gerald HICKEY. Leslie will be greatly missed by all of her family and Friends. Special thanks to her life long Friends Georgina VITALE and Pirscilla PETGRAVE. 83, Halifax, died peacefully at Saint Vincent's Guest House on Monday, September 12, 2005. He had suffered from Parkinson's Disease. At the time of his death, he was Professor Emeritus in the Faculty of Business Administration at Dalhousie University. Roy was born January 8, 1922, in Brampton, Ontario, the only child of the late Carman George and Lily May (PEARCE) BROOKBANK. In 1944 he married Anne Lorraine McCABE in Toronto. They had four daughters; they were divorced in 1975. He married Margaret BLAIR in 1999. She survives him living in Halifax. After three years of service in the Canadian Army, he earned Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Toronto with coursework at Columbia University, New York. He majored in Sociology, a new discipline at the time. He subsequently completed his PhD at the University of Toronto. Roy began his career in Brantford, Ontario, as a program director with the Young Men's Christian Association. He then moved to Calgary as Director of the Canadian Council of Christians and Jews. During the 1960s in Vancouver, as Director of Industrial Relations at British Columbia Electric, he was an innovator in the developing field of labour management relations. In 1962, he was recruited to teach at the Institute of Public Affairs, Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, and went on to become one of the pioneers of the inaugural Master of Business Administration degree program at Dalhousie. Professor BROOKBANK introduced hundreds of students to the basic principles of Labour Management Relations and Organizational Behaviour. He was born to teach, and held a deep affection for the academic world. An avid trout fisherman, Roy spent many happy hours on the lakes and streams of Nova Scotia with his Friends. He was a tropical fish enthusiast, successful in breeding many rare varieties. In his garden at his house in Hubley, Nova Scotia, he grew roses, berries and fruits. In addition to his wife, Peg, Roy is survived by his former wife, Anne, and his children Sharon, Halifax; Candace, Ottawa; Teresa (Louis LEMOINE), Halifax; and Adrienne (Sean BLANCHARD,) Toronto; grandchildren Curtis PARKER, Vancouver; Trevor PARKER, Tokyo; Sara PETHES, Ottawa; Sophie and Gabrielle LEMOINE, Halifax; and Ethan BLANCHARD, Toronto. Passed away early on July 22, 2005 at the St. Catharines General Hospital, after suffering congestive heart failure. Predeceased by her loving husband Jack and her sister Ellen NICHOL, Bev was the proud mother of Paul (Jill PETITE,) John (Ellen FOX,) Peter and Judith, and loving grandmother of Rebecca, Emma, Sara, Hannah, Nicholas and Carson. Always a vigorous presence in her children's 'home and school' associations, a staunch Anglican, lifelong Progressive Conservative, avid Gull Lake cottager and tireless volunteer devoted to the elderly and to 'those less fortunate than we', Bev will be remembered for the boundless energy carried forth from her Venture Club days, and for her unfailing belief in 'being active' long before it came into vogue. A memorial gathering will be held at her church, Saint Thomas' Anglican, St. Catharines, early in September. The death of Annette L. LOCKWOOD, 68 years, wife of Jim LOCKWOOD of Shediac, occurred following a period of failing health, with her family at her side at the Villa Providence on Tuesday, December 6th, 2005. Born in Moncton on February 6, 1937 she was the daughter of Milanie and Alalnee BREAU. While living in Toronto she worked for several years with Northern Telecom. After a lifetime of lighting up this world by touching so many with her love, kindness and humour, she taught us the nature of a good heart and unconditional love. Annette will be sadly missed by her husband of 48 years Jim (James); her children Joanne LOCKWOOD (Marion PETITE) of Moncton, Darlene DIX (Michael) of Oakville, Ontario and David LOCKWOOD (Teresa) of North Carolina. She was a loving grandmother to five grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters and several nieces and nephews. Peacefully, surrounded by his family, on February 4th, 2005 at the McMaster University Medical Centre, in his 79th year. Born in Ottawa, Douglas found his mission in life as a minister with his beloved United Church of Canada, serving congregations in several churches: Cliffcrest, Scarborough; Chelsea, Québec; Dominion-Chalmers & Britannia, Ottawa; Stoney Creek; Metropolitan, Toronto; and Westdale, Hamilton. After retirement, he continued his faith work with interim ministries in Pilgrim Uniting and Maughan Uniting Churches in Adelaide, Australia. Douglas' deeply held faith and love of teaching also led him to Christian Education and Youth Work roles within the national church, including the Toronto Boys' Work Board and Hamilton Conference C.E. His life of service, leavened with humour and a passionate interest in those around him, touched the lives of many people. Douglas also took a leadership role in the courts of the United Church through presidencies of the Ottawa Presbytery, Toronto Presbytery and Hamilton Conference. Blessed with a scholar's enquiring mind and passionate about theology, he pursued knowledge throughout his working life, achieving a PhD from the University of Ottawa, and an honorary D.D. from Victoria University, Toronto. Douglas shared a constant and abiding love with Ethel Mary UPTON, his high school sweetheart, through 56 years of marriage. He also gave loving inspiration and guidance to his children, grandchildren, extended family and Friends. Douglas is remembered by Ethel; his five children: Laureen (John CURRIE) of Mississauga, Murray (Christine CASTLE) of Hamilton, Peter (Jann SMITH) of Richmond Hill, Robert (Melody PETLOCK) of Sackville, New Brunswick, Valerie (John DIFFER) of Pender Island, British Columbia; and eleven cherished grandchildren: Andrew, Shannon and Alison; Meredith and Cameron; Leslie and Christopher; Miriam and Erin; Hiatt and Kathleen. Predeceased by brothers Robert of Victoria, British Columbia, and Keith of Summerside, Prince Edward Island. The family acknowledges with gratitude the knowledge and compassion of medical and health care personnel during the past few years. Proud Papa to Jocelyn, Justin and Jillian SRIGLEY; Angela, Sandy, Michelle, Adam and Jessica FALCONI; Jordan, Laurel and Alexander FALCONI Natalie and Andrew FALCONI. Predeceased by his parents Michele and Emelia FALCONI and sister Stella HERMAN. Survived by brothers Hubert and Louis FALCONI, both of North Bay. Dad will be sadly missed by his in-laws and many nieces, nephews, family, Friends and colleagues. Graduating twice from the University of Toronto, Phm.B. 5T2 and D.D.S. 7T0, Dad was a successful businessman, pharmacist and dental surgeon in Montreal, Sault Ste. Marie and Toronto. As a Fourth Degree in the Knights of Columbus, he was always available for any religious ceremony. As an active member of the Pisterzo Social Club, Dad was always proud of his Italian heritage. He was a man of honour and integrity. Those who knew Dad could always count on his loyalty, caring and advice. The family wishes to thank Dr. Cam JOYNER for his expertise and support over the past seventeen years. The family announces the passing of Harry LAVERY at the Trillium Health Centre, Mississauga, on Monday, January 10, 2005. Beloved son of the late Charles and Lilian (GIBSON) LAVERY. Loving brother of Ann FALLON (and the late Tom) of Scottsdale, Arizona and Adeline PETRELLI of Mississauga, Ontario. Loved uncle of Susan Fallon GARCIA (Raul), Orange City, California, Peter (Theresa) FALLON, Arlington, Virginia, Peter (Diane) PETRELLI, Mississauga, Ontario, Joseph (Swapna) PETRELLI, Toronto, Ontario and Vincent PETRELLI, Brampton, Ontario. Great-uncle to Emma (his little tinker) and Nicholas PETRELLI. Harry was a retired teacher with Dufferin-Peel Catholic School Board who loved children and teaching. He was a good person with strong beliefs in his faith and God. Mr. LAVERY will be resting at the funeral home of Skinner and Middlebrook Ltd, 128 Lakeshore Rd. E. (1 block west of Hurontario St.), Mississauga (parking off Ann St.), on Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 11 Peter St. S. (at Lakeshore Rd.), Mississauga, on Friday, January 14, 2005 at 11: 00 a.m. Private interment Assumption Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Peel would be appreciated by the family. The family wishes to thank Dr. SHULMAN and his associates for their compassionate care of Harry over his last few weeks. A special thank you to Father F. After a courageous battle with cancer at Trillium Health Centre - Mississauga on Saturday, November 26, 2005 at the age of 69. Cherished wife and best friend of Howard for 46 years. Loving mother of Robin FRAYNE and her husband Pat, David and his wife Nancy, and Wendy PETRELLI and her husband Paul. Adored nana to Taylor, Mackenzie, Jacob, Henry and Spencer. Dear sister of Carolyn BROWN. Florence was an inspiration to all those who knew her, especially the doctors and nurses and will be dearly missed by all who spent time with her, especially during the last two months.
