Leslie had a long and hard battle for over 20 years, she passed
away quietly and peacefully with her loving husband by her side
on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at the William Osler Health Centre,
Brampton Site. She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband
Paul, and her cherished son Connor. Leslie is a beloved sister
to Lee MIKLOS, a loving daughter to Norm and Pat
CARROLL and
daughter-in-law to Joan and Gerald
HICKEY.

Monday, September 12, 2005. He had suffered from Parkinson's
Disease. At the time of his death, he was Professor Emeritus
in the Faculty of Business Administration at Dalhousie University.
Roy was born January 8, 1922, in Brampton, Ontario, the only
child of the late Carman George and Lily May
(PEARCE)
BROOKBANK.
In 1944 he married Anne Lorraine
McCABE in Toronto. They had
four daughters; they were divorced in 1975. He married Margaret
BLAIR in 1999. She survives him living in Halifax. After three
years of service in the Canadian Army, he earned Bachelor of
Arts and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Toronto
with coursework at Columbia University, New York. He majored
in Sociology, a new discipline at the time. He subsequently completed
his PhD at the University of Toronto. Roy began his career in
Brantford, Ontario, as a program director with the Young Men's
Christian Association. He then moved to Calgary as Director of
the Canadian Council of Christians and Jews. During the 1960s
in Vancouver, as Director of Industrial Relations at British
Columbia Electric, he was an innovator in the developing field
of labour management relations. In 1962, he was recruited to
teach at the Institute of Public Affairs, Dalhousie University,
Halifax, Nova Scotia, and went on to become one of the pioneers
of the inaugural Master of Business Administration degree program
at Dalhousie. Professor
BROOKBANK introduced hundreds of students
to the basic principles of Labour Management Relations and Organizational
Behaviour. He was born to teach, and held a deep affection for
the academic world. An avid trout fisherman, Roy spent many happy
hours on the lakes and streams of Nova Scotia with his Friends.
He was a tropical fish enthusiast, successful in breeding many
rare varieties. In his garden at his house in Hubley, Nova Scotia,
he grew roses, berries and fruits. In addition to his wife, Peg,

for several years with Northern Telecom. After a lifetime of
lighting up this world by touching so many with her love, kindness
and humour, she taught us the nature of a good heart and unconditional

the McMaster University Medical Centre, in his 79th year. Born
in Ottawa, Douglas found his mission in life as a minister with
his beloved United Church of Canada, serving congregations in
several churches: Cliffcrest, Scarborough; Chelsea, Québec; Dominion-Chalmers
& Britannia, Ottawa; Stoney Creek; Metropolitan, Toronto; and
Westdale, Hamilton. After retirement, he continued his faith
work with interim ministries in Pilgrim Uniting and Maughan Uniting
Churches in Adelaide, Australia. Douglas' deeply held faith and
love of teaching also led him to Christian Education and Youth
Work roles within the national church, including the Toronto
Boys' Work Board and Hamilton Conference C.E. His life of service,
leavened with humour and a passionate interest in those around
him, touched the lives of many people. Douglas also took a leadership
role in the courts of the United Church through presidencies
of the Ottawa Presbytery, Toronto Presbytery and Hamilton Conference.
Blessed with a scholar's enquiring mind and passionate about
theology, he pursued knowledge throughout his working life, achieving
a PhD from the University of Ottawa, and an honorary D.D. from
Victoria University, Toronto. Douglas shared a constant and abiding
love with Ethel Mary
UPTON, his high school sweetheart, through
56 years of marriage. He also gave loving inspiration and guidance

Catholic School Board who loved children and teaching. He was
a good person with strong beliefs in his faith and God. Mr.

will be resting at the funeral home of Skinner and Middlebrook
Ltd, 128 Lakeshore Rd. E. (1 block west of Hurontario St.), Mississauga
(parking off Ann St.), on Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. A Funeral
Mass will be held at Saint Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church,
11 Peter St. S. (at Lakeshore Rd.), Mississauga, on Friday, January
14, 2005 at 11: 00 a.m. Private interment Assumption Cemetery.
