At North York General Hospital, passed away peacefully in the presence of her devoted husband, after a five year illness with breast cancer. She was a sweet, loving wife to Kumar LATCHMAN for over 45 years and a wonderful, loving mother to two daughters Kailash and Omeela. She also leaves her "little sis" Margie LOGAN, who visited her several times from Scotland during her final year, the last time, the week before her passing. Numerous other cousins and Friends will remember her as an extremely talented artist, but even more importantly as a truly loving and sympathetic friend who never failed to make people feel uplifted after spending time in her presence. Her family wish to express their gratitude to all of the nurses at the Freeman Centre for palliative care at North York General Hospital who cared for her with such solicitude. Particular gratitude is expressed to her excellent physicians, Dr. Mary TWEEDDALE, Dr. Mary DOHERTY and Dr. Krishna PERSAUD, who treated her with great competence and compassion during her illness. Stabbing killed single mom, 24
A 24-year-old single mother who was found bleeding to death in her ex-boyfriend's east-end apartment Tuesday died of a stab wound to the chest, an autopsy has concluded.
Police were called to an apartment on Glamorgan Ave., near Kennedy Rd. and Highway 401, around 5 a.m. Tuesday. There, they found Lydia GAYLE bleeding from the chest. The mother of an 8-year-old was later pronounced dead in hospital.
The victim was unemployed and lived with her mother, police said. There was no history of violence in her relationship with her ex-boyfriend, police added.
Shawn PERSAUD, 20, is charged with second-degree murder and is scheduled to appear in court again tomorrow. Police are not looking for any other suspects.

She was predeceased by her devoted husband Stephen LESKEW and her son Stevie LESKEW as well as her only brother Tolly SLYWCHUK of Timmins, Ontario. Dear mother of Elsie (Bill KELLY,) Paul▼ (Marlene,▼) Susan,▼ all of Orillia, John▼ (Bonnie▼) of Cumberland Beach and Helen (Kevin CROZIER) of Barrie. She was the cherished grandmother "Babi" of Kira Leskew FRASER (Colin), Gregory LESKEW, Christine Leskew MITCHELL (Keith), Steven LESKEW (Carrie), Christopher CROZIER (Lisa), Celina Crozier AMBLER (Rupert) and Jessica Crozier HENDRIKS (Dan). Proud great-grandmother to Emily, Joseph, David, Mary and Annie (Christopher and Lisa CROZIER), Alexandra, Charles and Rupert James (Celina and Rupert AMBLER), Madeleine, Gabriel and Claire (Jessica and Dan HENDRIKS), John and Meia (Steve and Carrie LESKEW.) Rose was born in Cobalt, Ontario on October 14, 1912 to Nicholas SLYWCHUK and Mary PERUN. In 1922 she survived the Great Fire at Haileybury while she was a resident student at the convent there. Rose married Stephen LESKEW in 1930 in Hamilton. He was a Master Cabinet-maker and Furniture designer, trained in Europe. They established the Timmins Upholstering and Cabinet Shop in the early years of their marriage and saw their business flourish in later years in southern and central Ontario.▼ The▼ family extends deep appreciation to Dr. Wayne BATES and the nurses and staff at Trillium Manor for their kind and dedicated care.

Emmle PACE passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2005 in Hamilton. He leaves his wife Loretta (O'HERON) of 54 years, four children and five grandchildren: Anna (Barry PERVIN) and Isabel; Greg (Kim KEARNS;) Tim (Heather CHISHOLM) and Kate, Sarah and Andrew Michael (Sandra MARSMAN) and Stephen. He will be missed by siblings Frank PACE and Guisa ZAMMIT and many nieces and nephews in Malta. Emmle was a Veteran of the Royal Air Force in World War 2 in Malta. He emigrated to Canada in 1948. He retired from the Department of Immigration after 30 years in Niagara Falls and Hamilton. We give our appreciation and thanks to the many caring people at the Juravinski Cancer Centre, the nurses, para-meds and occupational therapists of the Community Care Access Centre and to the wonderful staff and priests of St. Peter's Hospital. ln lieu of flowers, donations to Habitat for Humanity would be appreciated.
