Cherished grandmother of 34 and dearest great-grandma of 4. Thanks to Dr. Vikas GUPTA and Nancy-Ann PRINGLE at Princess Margaret Hospital. Died at age 90 on September 17, 2005, at Wellesley Central Place, having lived fully and independently to within a year of her death. Always a fighter, she stubbornly resisted her brief decline. Predeceased by her husband, geology professor Walter WILSON, she leaves her two children, Owen (Catherine LAHOURATATE) and Ellen (Kenneth KIDD,) and her loving grandchildren, Anne, Emilie and Sarah. Ellie was born April 15, 1915, and was raised in Brooklyn, New York in a family of four sisters and one brother. She obtained a B.A. from Smith College in Massachusetts, and a M.A. in geology from Cornell University, where she met her husband to be. She raised her family in Islington and moved, after his death, to Cabbagetown in 1972. Excelling at whatever she undertook, she was a real estate agent and geological reports editor, an intrepid traveller, visiting more than 50 countries, a voracious reader of history, art, architecture and literature, and knowledgeable collector of glass and porcelain. She belonged to a number of cultural societies, including the Arts and Letters Club. A tireless worker, she will be remembered with love, respect and admiration. Special thanks to Dading PATRICIO, for scrupulous care, and many others who helped in this difficult transition. Anne was a life long (37 years) Bell Canada employee (traffic analyst), member of the Bell Pioneers Association, and life member of St. George's Anglican Parish, Wharncliffe Road, London. Loving daughter of James and Annie (McMURPHY) LAMBOURN. Predeceased by brother Richard James LAMBOURN and wife Gilbert and dear sister Betty Elie. Aunt Anne is survived by her beloved pet cat Pip, her brothers George A. Loved husband of 62 years of Virginia Ruth (THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON) and dear father of Dr. William (Jennie CARSWELL) of Saint Thomas, Timothy (Susan) of Calgary, Anthony (Rita) of St. Catharines and Dr. John (Elaine) of Simcoe. Loving grandfather of Emma, Heather, Joelle, Robert, Jennifer, Julia, Danielle, Erica, Adrienne, Patrick and Gillian, as well as 3 great grandchildren. Bill graduated from Saint Thomas Collegiate Institute and then attended McMaster University. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War 2 overseas and in the Canadian Arctic. After the War he joined Bell Telephone Company of Canada and retired after 36 years of service in successively higher management positions in London, Montreal, St. Catharines, Hamilton and Toronto. He was a devoted member of the Anglican Church and served as Church Warden at Trinity in Saint Thomas, Saint Martin-in-the-Fields in London, Grace Anglican in St. Catharines and the Acension Anglican Church in Hamilton. 77, of R.R.#1, Embro, passed away surrounded by her family at Stratford General Hospital on Wednesday, December 28, 2005. She was born in Bayham Township, Elgin County on October 30, 1928 a daughter of the late Harry WINTERS and the former Evelyn HARDWICK. Marie taught school for many years beginning her career at Wadlands S.S. #7 West Zorra. Marie and her husband Bruce have farmed for the past fifty years. She was very proud of "Cedarburn Farm", their beautiful stone home and bountiful gardens. Marie was an active member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Harrington where she had recently been awarded an Honorary Membership in the Women's Missionary Society. She was also a member of Brooksdale Women's Institute and often enjoyed volunteering at the Stratford Perth Museum. Marie loved to travel, was an avid reader, enjoyed genealogy and loved picking raspberries from her own patch. Some of her many pastimes included playing the piano and painting, mainly in oils. Marie especially enjoyed flying, whether it be in her son's airplane, a hot air balloon or a glider. Her greatest source of joy was her family, especially her grandchildren, her church family and her wide circle of Friends. Marie is survived by her loving husband, Bruce Edward MacLEOD, whom she married fifty years ago at Grace United Church in Saint Thomas, on August 27, 1955. She will be deeply missed by her children, Debbie and husband Gary MATHESON of R.R.#3, Embro; Brian and wife MarLynn MacLEOD of Maumee, Ohio; Dianne MacLEOD of Stratford; her cherished grandchildren, Gregory, Ryan, Andrew and Kurtis MATHESON; Shayna MacLEOD as well as Ashley, Sierra and Eli MARSHALL. She is also survived by her only sister, Shirley and husband Garth OLDE of Raleigh, North Carolina her brothers-in-law, Mel MacKAY of R.R.#3, Embro and Mac MacLEOD of R.R.#1, Embro; her sister-in-law, Jean McINTYRE of Stratford; her sister-in-law, Doreen MacLEOD and husband Harold CALVERT of London. She will be sadly missed by many wonderful and supportive nieces and nephews. Bill graduated from Saint Thomas Collegiate Institute and then attended McMaster University. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War 2 overseas and in the Canadian Arctic. After the War he joined Bell Telephone Company of Canada and retired after 36 years of service in successively higher management positions in London, Montreal, St. Catharines, Hamilton and Toronto. He was a devoted member of the Anglican Church and served as Church Warden at Trinity in Saint Thomas, Saint Martin-in-the-Fields in London, Grace Anglican in St. Catharines and the Acension Anglican Church in Hamilton. An avid gardener, he loved his home and garden. He was proud of his effort working on the Iroquois engine for the Avro Arrow. Tragedy on Killarney wilderness trip

Killlarney, Ontario -- A Concordia University professor was killed Tuesday evening when lightning struck the ground near his tent during a hiking trip to a remote lake in Killarney wilderness park with his son and a friend visiting from Russia.
After the lightning strike, the Russian, 19-year-old Anton SORTUNATOR, made a frantic 10-kilometre trek over rough terrain in a vain attempt to get help for Victor ROSSOKHATY, 48, of Montreal. The hike along La Cloche Silhouette Trail from Lake Topaz normally takes at least five hours to complete but SORTUNATOR made it to the park gate in just 90 minutes.
"It's very rough terrain, it's considered an advanced trail," said Cam HOEPP, assistant park warden at Killarney Provincial Park, which lies about 100 kilometres southwest of Sudbury.
Paramedics, who arrived by air ambulance a short time after SORTUNATOR raised the alarm, still had to hike about 600 metres into the bush up some craggy slopes to reach the remote campsite.
Since ROSSOKHATY had no vital signs, the paramedics, deciding it was too dangerous to try to carry his body out in the dark, stayed at the campsite overnight, said Const. Michelle COULOMBE of the Sudbury detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police.
Members of the Ontario Provincial Police's Emergency Response Team arrived in the early hours of the morning by boat, travelling down Baie Fine inlet and then hiking into the site.
ROSSOKHATY's body was carried out by emergency workers yesterday afternoon. That was about 21 hours after ROSSOKHATY, his son Alex, 19, and SORTUNATOR took shelter in the tent around 5 p.m. Tuesday during a violent thunderstorm.
SORTUNATOR and Alex ROSSOKHATY scrambled out of the tent after seeing lightning hit the ground nearby.
SORTUNATOR, apparently struck, felt a numbness travel down his limbs, said Const. COULOMBE.
"Then Alex realized that his father wasn't with them and when they went back into the tent to look for him, he was lying on the floor of the tent and wasn't moving," said COULOMBE.
"It appears that the lightning had travelled through the ground."
Alex immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation on his father, while SORTUNATOR, who is here on vacation, made the journey to get help.
ROSSOKHATY's wife is on vacation in the family's homeland of Ukraine, where ROSSOKHATY, an assistant and associate professor at Kyiv National University from 1990 until 2002, was recognized by Ukraine's National Academy of Science in 1990 for his research in graded semiconductors.
Nabil ESMAIL, Dean of Concordia's department of electrical and computer engineering, said ROSSOKHATY was "extremely excited" about joining the faculty in 2002 and learning about the culture of Canada.
"Getting a position with Concordia was like winning the jackpot for him," said ESMAIL, who described ROSSOKHATY as a "big strong man" who loved his new life in Canada.
Colleagues were devastated by news of his death.
"He was very well liked, people here are crying and are having a very difficult time taking it all in," said the university's Sebastian VOYER.
COULOMBE said police believe that ROSSOKHATY died from the lightning strike, but are waiting for an autopsy scheduled for today before making that the official cause of death.
According to the Ontario Weather Page, a website run by Fergus, Ontario, "storm chaser" Dave PATRICK, lightning kills about 16 people a year in Canada.
Tuesday's tragedy bore an eerie similarity to the August, 2003, death of Lee USHER, 41, of Toronto.
He was killed when lightning struck near a tent he was sharing with his two sons near Parry Sound.
