Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, she immigrated to Canada in 1962 to be with her family, best friend and constant companion, her late sister, Elizabeth (Betty) STORIE and her late husband Bill STORIE. Predeceased by her father Magnus, mother Lillias and sister Christina. Rena was an active and faithful member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. A loving aunt of her nieces Lillias (née STORIE) her husband Bob CHARLES, her nephew Kenneth STORIE, his wife Katherine (née NEWBERRY.) Great-aunt to Scott CHARLES, Grant CHARLES and his fiancée Lisa, Andrew STORIE, his wife Louise, Duane STORIE, his wife Fiona, and niece Nicole NIE (née STORIE) and her husband Wayde. Great-great-aunt to Isabella, Hannah, Declan, William and Connor. Her family and many Friends will sadly miss her. Miene NIEBOER passed away peacefully at the Montfort Hospital on August 17, 2005 in her 89th year. Miene was born in Den Haag, the Netherlands and she moved to Canada in 1957 with her husband and four children. She first lived in Hamilton and then moved to Kingston where she resided for more than 30 years. Miene was predeceased by her husband Abraham BAKVIS. She was the loving mother of Herman, Peter, Maria and Judy and the cherished grandmother of Julien, François, David, Daniel, Melanie, Jonathan and Adam. She is lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews in Holland.
Miene had lived at Blackburn Lodge in Ottawa for the past 8 years. The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Blackburn Lodge for their care and kindness over the years. Also, the family thanks the staff at the Montfort Hospital for their support and care during the past few weeks.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday September 20, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Beechwood Cemetery Reception Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa (613-741-9530). A graveside interment of cremated remains will be held at 4 p.m. A reception will follow.

Stella was born in Calgary, July 1, 1922. Stella graduated from Saint Mary's High School and Calgary Normal School. She taught in Consort, Beiseker and Three Hills and was a well respected teacher for many years with the Calgary Roman Catholic School Board. Married to Paul in 1946, the couple first resided in Forest Lawn, then in N.E. Calgary and finally west of Balzac, and were parishioners of Holy Trinity in Forest Lawn and later of St. Paul's in Airdrie. Stella was a founding member and first president of the Calgary Women's League at Holy Trinity and went on to serve the Catholic Women's League as Diocesan President, Alberta Provincial President and as a National Catholic Women's League Convenor. Stella, Paul and their son Robert operated a family mink ranch which was in operation from 1937 to 1999.
Stella is survived by her loving husband Paul; son Robert of Balzac, Alberta; son Randy and daughter-in-law Margie of Toronto granddaughter Thaba Jane and husband Phet Sayo and their son Ji Hong of Bangkok; granddaughter Emma Louise of Toronto; grand_son Paul▼ Jacob▼ of Toronto; sisters Nettie MOOTH and Helen KOZICKY of Calgary; and dear friend Cecylia NIEDZIELSKA and family of Lyalta, Alberta.

We are deeply saddened to announce that on Wednesday March 9th, 2005 we lost a loving, cherished and beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and special friend. Thor leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend Rosie NIELSEN, as well as 3 daughters Marianne (Dick) of Ottawa, Kia (Beth) of Ottawa and Catherine (Andy) of Victoria, and also Rosie's 2 sons, Jim (Natalie) of Buckingham and Andy (Lisa) of Penticton and grandchildren Julian, Adrian, Kaleb, Jordanna, Jamie and Abby Rose. And in Denmark, Thor's brother Flemming (Birte), sister Grete (Jan) and many other family members and Friends. Thor's journey began 77 years ago in Denmark. In 1954 Thor and Inge, his former wife, moved to Canada, where Thor's career blossomed and his 3 girls were born. Thor was a successful and well respected Professional Engineer, first in Toronto, then in Ottawa as Traffic Director for the City of Ottawa followed by 23 years as Senior Vice President with Delcan in Ottawa, South Africa and Toronto. Thor touched many lives through his personal and professional travels and developed many exceptional, long lasting Friendships through the years. Thor and Rosie always welcomed Friends and family with love, warmth and laughter to their home over the years. Peter HAYS, a Calgary television producer and director, writes about Charles KEATING, whose obituary appeared on November 23.
Charles KEATING could be as imposing as he was kind. In the spring of 2000, I was desperately trying to find financing for a television satire of A&E's Biography called Liography. It was a project I had wanted to do with actor Leslie NIELSEN, and had been commissioned by the Comedy Network, but had failed to get the full backing of Telefilm. It was at risk of evaporating.
My friend and former colleague Nancy REGAN, then a host at ATV News in Halifax, suggested I ask Charles for money.
Charles was known to have made a fortune when he sold his Dartmouth cable company to the Shaw group. As a former reporter for the Halifax Daily News, I knew he was a big Liberal, but I'd never asked him for anything. A few days later, I was sitting in his office, surrounded by dozens of photos of Charles with famous people. He asked me in a booming voice why he should invest in my wild idea. "Because," I promised, "You will be repaid in full before anyone else profits from the project."
"Peter," he growled, "I don't need you to get to heaven." Indeed.
Charles did invest, making the series, which was a success, possible.

Elzo NIEMEYER went to be with the Lord December 24, 2005 in his 72nd year. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Greta for over 33 years, daughter Anita, son Edwin, son-in-law Brent ARCHIBALD, and niece Antoinette MEINDERS and her husband Andrew THOMAS. Survived by his sisters Bep, Sonja, Coby, Yvonne and Anne and his brothers Harm, John and Bronno. Elzo grew up in The Netherlands and moved to Toronto with his family in 1953. He later married Greta and they ran their own Dutch import store for over 30 years. Visitation with family will take place on Friday December 30th between 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge Street (south of Steeles at Goulding). Our Shan (Shanna Louise Elizabeth), aged 24 years, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2005 following treatment for breast cancer. She will be sadly missed by mom and dad (Lorna and Rob), brothers (Kris and Andrew,) grandparents (Louise and Kauko NIEMI and Betty and Chris LARSEN from Thunder Bay,) other relatives, Friends, neighbours, coworkers, swimming and skating students and the many others whose lives she touched.
Shan attended Haileybury Public School and graduated with honours from Timiskaming District Secondary School (Art Award 1999). She graduated with a Honours Bachleor of Arts degree in Visual Arts from the University of Western Ontario in June 2004. She was a lifeguard/swimming instructor and figure skating coach. She had achieved her Skate Canada Gold Medal in Dance. Her dream was to teach students at the primary level of education.
A celebration of Shanna's life will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2005 from 1: 00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. at the Southside Aquatics Centre in Woodstock. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Southside Aquatics Centre, the Thamesford Skating Club, the Zorra Skating Club in Embro or the Haileybury Figure Skating Club. The donations will assist young children to learn to swim or skate. Our thanks to all those who offered their support, love and prayers to Shanna and ourselves over the past four months.

It is with profound sadness that family and Friends announce the passing of Marvin HIGGS on February 13, 2005. He died peacefully at his home in Huntsville after a valiant fight with cancer. Marvin was predeceased by his mother Mildred MacDONALD, brother Gordon MacDONALD, sister-in-law Agnes MacDONALD and niece Barbara (MacDONALD) ROBINSON. He was born on October 22, 1934, in Toronto to the late Harold and Mary. He lived and worked in Toronto until his retirement fourteen years ago. He then moved to Muskoka. Marvin was a true gentleman who touched the lives of everyone who knew him with his passion for life, integrity, dignity, high values, compassion and sense of humour. Mrs. Elsie KERR a long time resident of Wallaceburg passed away on Monday, June 6, 2005 at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance "Public General Campus" in Chatham at the age of 83 years. Elsie was born in Freemont, Michigan and was a daughter of the late Alex and Catherine (NIEMIN) ROOSSINCK. She was an esteemed sister in the Wallaceburg Gospel Hall, also a former Sunday School teacher and a mentor to many. Elsie was a volunteer with the Wallaceburg Community Living. She was a regular visitor to others at Sydenham Residence and Fairfield Park in Wallaceburg. Elsie was a champion quilt maker. Beloved wife of the late Clarence KERR (2002.) Dear mother and mother-in-law of Dan and Mary KERR of Palmerston, David and Gertie KERR of Windsor, Eva and Rick LIZOTTE of Wallaceburg, Daisy KERR at home and Charles and Lorna KERR of Wallaceburg.
