Accident Claims the Life of Flesherton Woman
Grey County O.P.P. reported details on a fatal motor vehicle
rollover on Highway 10 about 30 kilometres south of Owen Sound
that occurred late in the morning of November 22.
Bonnie NEIL, age 57, of Grey Highlands, (Flesherton) was operating
a white 1998 Lincoln north bound on Highway 10 at approximately
11: 30 a.m. There were snow squalls in that area at the time and
the roadway was dusted with snow and slush. As she left the hamlet
of Berkeley she failed to negotiate a curve, spun out of control
and left the roadway where the vehicle rolled down a steep embankment
that bordered the highway on the east side. As the car left the
roadway it clipped the starting point of a cable and post guide
rail system. A passing motorist noticed the single broken post
and reported it to police at approximately 12: 15 p.m. An officer
who responded to that report located the
NEIL vehicle overturned
at the bottom of the embankment
The Grey Highlands Fire Department assisted officers at the scene.
The roadway was closed for several hours as technical traffic
investigators went over the scene.
All traffic on the portion of Highway 10 affected was re-routed
around the scene from 50 Sideroad to 60 Sideroad via the East
Back Line.
Bonnie NEIL was well known in the Flesherton area having been
born and raised here, her parents being the late Harold and Velma
(FISHER)
BEST.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Barry,
and four sons, Jeffrey, Daniel Jason and Christopher (Chris,
a member of the Ottawa Senators hockey team), together with nine
grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister Geraldine (Milford)
LOUCKS of Owen Sound and a brother, Bob (Anne)
BEST of Flesherton.
