HEATH,
Philip▼
James▼
Beverley▼
Phil passed away peacefully at the age of 49 on September 1,
2005, after a valiant battle with cancer. Phil was the beloved
husband of Lesley
MORISON; the loving father of Geoffrey, Jacqueline
and James; the
son of Lawrence and the late Jacqueline
HEATH
and the brother of Janet and Beverley. He will be sadly missed
and remembered by his extended family, many Friends and colleagues.
Born June 18, 1956, Phil grew up in Toronto where he attended
Whitney Public School and the University of Toronto Schools.
After earning a B.A. from Trinity College at the University of
Toronto and his law degree from the Faculty of Law at Queen's
University, Phil launched a highly successful legal career. Phil
was an exceptional corporate counsel who specialized in complex
asset securitization transactions as a senior partner at Osler,
Hoskin and Harcourt LLP.
Phil will be remembered for his formidable intellect, searing
wit and the wonderfully dry sense of humour, which was distinctly
his own. His intellectual curiosity extended well beyond the
law to politics, science, physics and many other disciplines.
Phil was a gentleman, a devoted husband and father and drew tremendous
pleasure from his life with Lesley and their greatest achievement,
their children.
The family will receive Friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home
- A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue

Group marks death of fellow cyclist
By Oliver MOORE,
Wednesday,
December 28, 2005, Page A14
Cyclists gathered last night to mark the death of the fourth
rider killed on Toronto's streets this year.
Isaac MORKEL, 51, died a week ago on his way to the grocery store,
looking for ingredients to make a curry. He was hit by a large
truck at the intersection of Leslie and Eastern Avenues, an area
rife with dump trucks and cement mixers.
Nick MORKEL, the victim's brother, said last night that motorists
fly through that area as if it were a race course. In addition,
he said, witnesses: have described a turning truck that was so
big it mounted the curb, unable to stay entirely on the road.
The activist group, Advocacy for Respect for Cyclists, called
the death entirely preventable.
