CHAPMAN,
Jeff -- Dispatch:
By Shawn MICALLEF,
Saturday,
August 27, 2005, Page M4
On Tuesday, Toronto lost "Ninjalicious" to cancer at the age
of 31. His real name was Jeff
CHAPMAN, and since 1996 he had
published Infiltration, "the zine about going places you're not
supposed to go." The self-published magazine was about the behind-the-scenes
places most Torontonians never get to see. Ninjalicious, the
name he wrote and published under, is legendary in the zine world
and in Urban Exploration circles.
When I first moved to Toronto five years ago, the drudgery of
a 9-to-5 job was not the adventure I was expecting. One dull
night, I picked up Infiltration at Suspect Video and paged through
it. That was the moment I realized other people thought about
the city the same way I did: as a mysterious place waiting to
be explored.
His first issue chronicled secret forays he made around off-limits
areas of the Royal York Hotel, where he recently spent his honeymoon.
Subsequent issues detailed places such as Union Station, City
Hall, a drain under St. Clair Avenue and St. Michael's Hospital,
where he wandered the halls during his illnesses. These adventures
are compiled at http: //www.infiltration.org. Just before his
death, he was able to finish his book Access All Areas: A User's
Guide of the Art of Urban Exploration.
Because of Jeff, people around the globe know about Toronto's
nooks and crannies. Ninjalicious mythologized Toronto like no
one ever has. Now I walk around the city wondering if Ninjalicious
has slid through some forgotten tunnel under my feet.

DELCOL,
Maria▼ (formerly
MASCHERIN)
It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Maria
DELCOL,
beloved wife of the late Vittorio who predeceased her in 1972.
Although proud of the heritage of the Friuli culture from Northern
Italy that she shared with her husband and left behind in 1934,
she loved Canada and the life it gave her in Timmins even more.
In this town founded after a gold rush not even twenty years
before Vittorio arrived in 1930, together they successfully built
full new lives. In these they were loved, respected, active and
were founding members of the new Italian Sacred Heart Church,
where their infant daughter was the first recipient of the sacrament
of baptism ministered by Father Fontana, and later in the Dante
Club, both of which played significant roles in their daughter's
wedding twenty-four years later. Because of this broad and committed
support group of family and Friends, Maria was able to maintain
her independence and live alone in her beloved Timmins for 32
years, waiting to be reunited with the man she fell in love with
as a thirteen year old. At the age of 90, after a long life that
saw much development and change, she developed heart and breathing
problems and was no longer able maintain her independence; she
was welcomed into her daughter's home in Willowdale, Toronto.
She finally was granted her wish to be once again with her beloved
Vittorio when, after a two year battle, her tired heart stopped
at 12: 15 a.m. on the 16th of February, 2005, age 91. As the treasured
Mama, Nonna, and Nonna Bisa she was loved and will be sadly missed
by her daughter Neli

INGRAM and husband Robert (Rob) of Barrie, and Vanessa
DAVIES
of Toronto and companion Corey, and great-granddaughters Melinda,

She and her family cherish and are so grateful to the
family members and Friends in Timmins who enabled this loving,
feisty, strong willed, independent lady to retain her dignity
and sense of self for so long in her own home with its joyous
memories. In compliance with her wishes, she is resting at Miron
Wilson Funeral Home, Timmins. Viewing will be on Monday, February
21st from 2: 00 to 4:00 p.m. and again from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
The Funeral Service will be at Sacred Heart Church, Tuesday,
February 22nd at 11: 00 a.m. An announcement of a Memorial Service
