Zoila grew up in Macau where she was a school and music teacher, choir director and organist. At the age of 67 she became an oil painter and produced beautiful art. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Pauline MELLOR of Halifax. A graduate of Mount St. Vincent University, she worked as a Medical Secretary to the Administrator of the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax and later with Dr. Paul SINGH, Calgary, Alberta. She was dedicated to her husband, family and Friends. She carried her long illness with strength, courage and dignity. Surviving are her devoted husband Jim, daughter Stephanie (Brad) HOY, grandchildren Katie and Owen HOY, daughter Kimberley (fiancé David BRUSSO,) Brampton. She is also survived by sister Anne (Alex MacMILLAN,) nieces Pamela MacMILLAN, Deborah (Rob COOMBS, great niece and nephew Hannah and Michael COOMBS,) Halifax. Norman MELNICK passed away peacefully in hospital in Glendale, California on May 9, 2005. Norman is survived by his two sons, Blake and Adrian, his two step children, Keeley LEVEL and Kelly COX and by his two granddaughters, Parker MELNICK and Rowan MELNICK. Norman loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was a loving father, philosopher, writer, poet and a gentleman and will be remembered for his quick wit, intelligence and for the interest he showed for all things human. Born June 17th, 1927 in London, Ontario, Pat died on February 26th, 2005 at Kingston General Hospital. She was a graduate of the Pasadena Playhouse, Pasadena, California. A member of the board of Domino Theatre, Pat was a past board member of the Eastern Ontario Drama League, Theatre Ontario, D.D.F. / Theatre Canada, the North American Regional Alliance, and the International Amateur Theatre Association. She was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 1995.
The daughter of the late Ella and T.O. ROBINSON, Pat was predeceased by her husband Professor S. Ross BEHARRIELL. She is survived by her children Richard (Della CLARKE) of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Susan of Toronto and Jane (David MELNYK) of Toronto, and by her granddaughter Elizabeth of Yarmouth. A member of the board of Domino Theatre, Pat was a past board member of the Eastern Ontario Drama League, Theatre Ontario, D.D.F./ Theatre Canada, the North American Regional Alliance, and the International Amateur Theatre Association. She was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 1995. The daughter of the late Ella and T.O. ROBINSON, Pat▲ was predeceased by her husband Professor S. Ross BEHARRIELL. Edmund was born in 1915 in Leslie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. His parents were Reverend James BERRY, a minister in the Church of Scotland, and Agnes HENDERSON, a nurse. Edmund immigrated to Canada with his parents and sister when he was 12. After attending high school and first year university in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Edmund transferred to Queen's University in Kingston. He graduated with First Class Honours in Classics and received the Prince of Wales Prize for the highest standing in the Faculty of Arts. His M.A. was also from Queen's. He received his PhD in Classics from the University of Chicago (1940). It was in Chicago that he met his future wife, Virginia GINGERICK, a fellow graduate student.
Edmund joined the Classics Department at the University of Manitoba in 1940 and taught there for 40 years. Throughout his career Edmund's involvement in research and academia was paralleled by his care and concern for his students and younger faculty members. This often extended to bringing out-of-town students home for dinner or tea.
At the university Edmund held a number of positions including Director of Summer School, Assistant Dean of Arts and Science, and head of the Classics Department. He also served as President of the Humanities Association of Canada, President of the Classical Association of Canada and Chairman of the Humanities Research Council. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 1971. Edmund retired from the university in 1980 and was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus.
He was a supportive member of All Saints' Anglican Church for 65 years, a member of the Vestry (15 years) and Churchwarden. Retirement allowed Edmund to pursue his interest in travel, especially Britain, Spain and Victoria, British Columbia, where he and Virginia spent many happy times. Reading and conversations with his many Friends (often about books) were two of his greatest pleasures. He could be depended on to entertain and amuse with a timely anecdote or joke.
Virginia's death in 2003 brought many changes but Edmund continued to maintain a positive attitude. Thanks to his caregivers Mary, Sheila, Ava and Del, he was able to enjoy his last years, helped by their warm, expert care and a shared sense of humour.
Edmund was predeceased by his sister Elise in 1982 and Virginia, his wife of 59 years, in 2003. He has two daughters, Julia (George MELNYK) and Margaret (Philip LIN) and three grand_sons, Adam MELNYK, Brian LIN, and Michael LIN.
Edmund was a true Scot, a gentleman and a good father. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 12th at 1: 30 p.m. at All Saints' Church, Winnipeg.

Passed away peacefully on September 14th, 2005, in her 82nd year, with her family present, in the Intensive Care Unit unit of the Trillium Health Centre (Mississauga), following complications from a recent series of strokes. Born in Dubno, Ukraine, Maria survived the displacement of populations that occurred during and following World War 2 in Europe, and immigrated with her husband to Belgium in 1947, and then to Canada in 1949. She retired from Ontario Hydro in 1983. Predeceased by her husband Andry (in 1977), she is survived by her children George, Helen and son-in-law Stephen, Anne and son-in-law Peter. She was a loving grandmother to Mark and Andrew (Mizzi) and Philip (Sochan). Maria was multilingual and a fervent supporter of religious, cultural and educational activities in Canada and her native Ukraine. She will be missed, but not forgotten. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of the Intensive Care Unit unit for the kindness and care they showed Maria and all those who visited her during her final days. Passed away on Friday, February 11, 2005 at Meadowcroft Place Retirement Home, Mississauga, at the age of 85. Predeceased by his wife Laura RODRIGUES. Much loved father of Manuel and his wife Rose, Natalie MELO and her husband Louis, Maria VIEIRA and her husband Fernando, Norberto and his wife Betty, Tony and his wife Helena and Oliver and his wife Therese. Also missed by 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. A very special thank you to the staff of Meadowcroft Place Retirement Home for their kindness, care and support. Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home "Brampton Chapel," 52 Main Street South (Hwy. 10), Brampton, on Sunday from 6-9 p.m. Funeral will be held at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 66A Main St. West, Brampton on Monday, February 14, 2005 at 11 a.m. Interment to take place at Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

JACKIEWICZ, Roman (1925-2005)
In comfort and within the hearts of his loving family and Friends, Roman passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2005. Forever loved by his wife and soul mate of 54 years Zdzislawa (Niuna) JACKIEWICZ. He was the beloved father of Mariola ANDRUSKY and husband Danny, and Allan W. JACKIEWICZ and wife Grazyna. Cherished grandfather of Kathi MELO and husband Jorge, Julia FANTILLI and husband Giuliano, Bobby, Peter and Victoria JACKIEWICZ. Proud great-grandfather of Ryan, Jordan, Luca and Adam. Also, lovingly remembered by his sister Jadwiga AWIANOWICZ and family, his brother-in-law George JANSON, sister-in-law Danka PUSTELNIAK and husband Gienek, along with many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express deep gratitude to Barbara and Jimmy OZAROWSKI, Les and Lonia STRUZIK along with the dialysis and palliative care workers at the St. Joseph's Health Centre for their loving care and assistance.
