LADBROOKE, Betty (née LOVELUCK)
Peacefully at Longworth Long Term Care on Tuesday, September 13th, 2005, Betty in her 85th year, beloved wife of Allen LADBROOKE for 59 years and friend for 80 years. Loving mother of Jane (and husband Roy LUCAS) and proud grandmother of Mark and James. She was predeceased by parents Tom and Anne LOVELUCK of Bridgend, Wales. Betty served in the A.T.S., attached to the Royal Corps of Signals as a wireless operator from 1942-46 in Southwest England. She loved amateur dramatics and was a member of the Wells (Somerset) Operatic Society. After emigrating to Canada in 1956, the family made their home in Peterborough. Betty continued her interest in amateur drama, drove patients for the Cancer Clinic and became Division Commissioner for the Girl Guides of Canada. In 1967, Betty and Allen moved to London, where she was an enthusiastic member of the Orchestra London Volunteer Committee and served as President of the local chapter of the Professional Engineers Wives' Association. Betty and Allen's travel adventures together began with camping in Canada and the U.S. and progressed into many overseas trips. Her favourites were the cruises. The family sincerely thanks the dedicated staff and gratefully acknowledges the exceptional and loving care given to Betty at Longworth Long Term Care over the last eighteen months. Finally, our thanks to a very special person, Sharon CALVERT, whose support has been treasured. Cremation has taken place at Betty's request. A memorial service will be held at Saint Anne's Anglican Church in Byron at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2005. Reverend Rachael WALKER will officiate. Age 90 years of Dartmouth died peacefully September 19, 2005 at Dartmouth General Hospital surrounded with love by her family. Marjorie was a survivor of the Halifax Explosion which claimed her mother's life. She was a daughter of Rachel (HAYTER) and Harry BREMNER. She was pre-deceased by husbands, Thomas ANDREWS, Alfred LOVETT and Thomas LINDSAY. Also stepsisters Helen and Hazel and stepbrother James BREMNER. She is survived by daughters Janet BURK/BURKE, Florence (Thomas) PERKES, Mary Elizabeth (Colin) COCKBURN and Silverene (John) PETERS. Brother Donald BREMNER. She is also survived by the 11 children of Thomas LINDSAY. She is also survived by grandchildren Tony, Stephen, Denise and Peter TUFTS, Deborah and Mark CONNELLY, Laura WYNNE and Linda ALLAWAY, Tania and Roxanne ROSERE, Virginia KAASTRA, Frances FORSYTH and April PAUCH and 18 great-grandchildren. Born September 16, 1937 in Montreal. Died February 3, 2005, North York, after a four month illness. Retired Partner Grant Thornton LLP
Longstanding active and contributing member of the Kiwanis Clubs of Toronto and Montreal.
Only child of Edgar John (Jack) and Gertrude Irene (née LOVETT) who predeceased him by some years.
John was educated in Montreal and practiced there as a C.A. for two decades before moving to Toronto in 1983. He was noted for his technical expertise in assurance and a passion for working with companies in the mines and minerals sector. He loved mentoring junior members of the accounting profession and cultivating their skills. In retirement he found a new professional niche in chairing an audit committee for a public company and remained engrossed in this work throughout his illness.
He gave back to the community as a Kiwanian, as Treasurer of the Toronto Kiwanis Boys and Girls Club and as Treasurer of his Condo Board where he is remembered for his gruffly delivered wit, Friendship and sense of humour.
Leaves to mourn, his partner in life, Andrea DEMCHUK and her son Severn MOZER who wish they'd had much more time with John. He was a quick study as step-father, knowing how to make life fun while providing much-appreciated guidance. For years to come, episodes of Star Trek and JAG will bring tears to our eyes, as will CNN, British Broadcasting Corporation world, takeout pizza and trips to Radio Shack, Canadian Tire and Costco. Nobody could talk things through like John. He brought meaning to life.
First cousin Marilyn YOUNG and her grown daughter (and John's much beloved Goddaughter) Lindsey YOUNG of Leaside.
Former wife Janice Morrison RIEHL of Houston, Texas and her husband Bernard. And too numerous to list here, all of John's wonderful Friends from his business and community work who took the time to call, or drop by the hospital or the local Keg. Andrea is especially grateful to all of you and to her Friends and family.
And John wanted all of the health professionals who provided care these past months to know how very highly he valued their work.

LOVEYS, Norma Jean (née SMITH)
Norma Jean LOVEYS, 84, of Hickson, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2005. She was born at Innerkip on May 21, 1920, a daughter of the late Gordon SMITH and the former Rhoda May ROSS. Norma was a member of Hickson United Church and the United Church Women. She was a longtime member of Thames Valley Chapter #199 O.E.S., Innerkip; was a member of the Board of Oxford County Children's Aid Society for ten years having served five of those years as President. In earlier years she was active as a school teacher. Throughout her lifetime she enjoyed playing badminton, bridge and particularly golf at Craigowan Golf and Country Club.
She married Eric Grills LOVEYS at London on December 24, 1940. He predeceased her on May 11, 1991. She was also predeceased by her son John LOVEYS on July 26, 2004 and by her twin grand_sons, Michael and Christopher LOVEYS. Norma is survived by one daughter, Marjory and husband Antony CAPEL of Ottawa; one son, Gordon and wife Sonia LOVEYS of Belleville; her daughter-in-law, Barb LOVEYS, of R.R.#4 Woodstock; five grandchildren, Jeffrey, Julie and Dan LOVEYS, Matthew and Nicole LOVEYS; two sisters, Annabell and husband Andy MacKENZIE, Elaine and husband George PALLISTER, all of Woodstock; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bob and Norma LOVEYS of Tillsonburg, Marion WEST of Kirkland Lake. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Rod WALLACE and her brother-in-law, Fred WEST. Relatives and Friends will be received in the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock, on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at 11 a.m. The Reverend David DUNCAN will officiate. Interment in Hillview Cemetery, Woodstock.
