BATMAN--In loving memory of Frances
BATMAN.
God knew that she was suffering
The hills were hard to climb,
So He closed her weary eyelids
And whispered, "Peace be thine,"
Away in the beautiful hills of God,
By the valley of rest so fair,
Some day, we know not when,
We will meet our loved one there.
LOVE Ralph, Dennis, Paul, Jackie and family, Bill, Cheryl and family.

LOVE,
George
James▼
Jr.
In loving memory of my beloved husband, George James
LOVE
Jr.,
who died 7 years ago, January 27th, 1998
I long to see his kindly face,
I long to see him smile,
I long to see his tender eyes,
And to sit by his side for awhile.
I long to hold his hand in mine,
And tell him how much I cared,
And how glad I am to know it was me,
With whom his life he shared.
No one will ever take his place,
And no one ever can,
Brighten my life the way he did,
This sweet and gentle man.
I know I'll wait until we meet,
Upon the other shore,
Where life goes on forever,
And we shall part no more.
Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Merlyn Winnifred.

School mourns teen killed by freight train
By Kelly PEDRO and Jon
WILLING, Free Press Reporter; Special
to The Free Press
Students at a Woodstock high school paid tribute yesterday to
a classmate killed when he ran into the path of a freight train
Tuesday night. Marc
MATTHEWS, 17, of Embro, was killed instantly,
police said.
"This is going to be one of those tragedies that shakes up the
community," said Oxford Community police Const. Bob
McDONALD.
Staff and students at College Avenue secondary school spent yesterday
remembering
MATTHEWS, a Grade 11 student.
"It's a sad loss when there's a sad, tragic accident," principal
Judy THORNER said.
An announcement of
MATTHEW's death was made to the school. Students
signed a long piece of paper in the school's guidance office
and wrote tributes to
MATTHEWS.
After classes yesterday, students described
MATTHEWS as a likable
classmate.
"He was a good kid," Billy
HARRIS, 15, said.
"I was weak today," Bobby
WALKER, 16, said. "He was one of my
best Friends."
MATTHEWS's uncle, Randy
LOVE, said the teen loved outdoor activities,
including skateboarding and swimming.
"He liked to do dirt biking and rollerblading,"
LOVE said, noting
MATTHEWS was always willing to help those close to him. "If he
could help you out, he would."
MATTHEWS was walking about 8: 45 p.m. when the lights and gates
at a rail crossing on Wilson Street in the city's downtown were
activated, police said.
Police aren't sure why
MATTHEWS bolted across the tracks, where
he was hit by a westbound Canadian National freight, said
McDONALD.
Investigators are trying to determine if
MATTHEWS was alone and
where he was going.
Police ask anyone who saw what happened to call them at 537-2323.
The train was en route from Toronto to Sarnia.
The crew asked for relief at the scene and was replaced, said
Canadian
National's
Ian
THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON.
The tracks were closed until about midnight.
The crossing is in one of the heaviest freight corridors, said
THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON, with about 40 Canadian National freight trains travelling
through it every day.

LOVEGROVE,
Tommy
(Singer, Entertainer)
Passed away peacefully on November 26, 2005 at age 83. Dearly
missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty (née
BARLOW,) loving
son David LOVEGROVE and his wife
Karyn and loving daughter Wendy
Jane LOVEGROVE.
Born in Wales, Tommy began to sing at the age
of sixteen, winning talent competitions in England and Wales.
He joined the Royal Air Force in World War 2 and, besides his
job of keeping the 'Spitfires' flying, he sang with the Royal
Air Force band in London along with a musician named Harry Lewis
who later married Vera Lynn, 'Sweetheart of the Forces'. He formed
his own band in London after the war. In 1956, Tommy, Betty and
son David emigrated to Canada. His love for singing was always
there. He entered a competition for 'Lipton Search for Talent'
in 1956 (judged by Gordie Tapp) and won. His long-time musician
friend from England, Jack Lane, formed his own band, 'The Jack
Lane Seven' and Tommy sang with him for many years at the Royal
Overseas Club in Toronto. They also did stints at 'The Old Mill'
and many other venues around Toronto. As well, he enjoyed singing
gospel music and did so at many church locations in the greater
Greater Toronto Area. He performed on both television and radio
many times. He sang Remembrance Day and gospel songs on the '100
Huntley Street' television program. He was interviewed on Radio
CHWO (AM 740) by announcer Jim Paulson and the late June Sonin
where he also sang 'When Joanna Loved Me', a favourite of his
many fans. After being interviewed by the late Peter Gzowski
on Canadian Broadcasting Corporation radio's 'Morningside', Peter
himself remarked..."That Tommy Lovegrove... he's cool!" He performed
for many years at the 'Seniors Jubilee' at Roy Thomson Hall and
was very happy to receive their Award of Distinction for 1999
presented by the 'Forever Young' newspaper. On another note,
a second child, Wendy Jane, came into Tommy and Betty's life
in 1963. Tommy's 'other life' was in the business world. He was
general manager of 'Ampak Plastic Company' and later in sales
with the 'Wheaten Glass Company'. He was always also involved
in other entrepreneurial sidelines. When he retired from the
business world, he recorded several musical works with Friends
and family. His last years were spent happily singing at many
Seniors' residences accompanied by his friend of many years,
Dave POLS.
Dave was a great support to Tommy as he struggled
with performing (due to the onset of Alzheimer's Disease) in
the last few years. The family wishes to thank the staff and
volunteers at the William Osler Health Centre and the 'Alzheimer
Society's Day Programme' staff for their wonderful care. Thank
you, too, to all of our dear Friends for their support. There
will be a visitation/celebration of Tommy's life on Wednesday
November 30, 2005 at the Scott Funeral Home, 289 Main Street
North, Brampton (905-451-1100) between 1: 00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tommy's memory to
a charity of choice, or the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the
Palliative Care Unit of the William Osler Health Centre (Brampton
location.)
