HUTTON, Irene (née ASHWORTH)
Suddenly, following a brief illness, Irene, beloved wife of the late Ernie HUTTON, passed away November 1, 2005, in her 76th year. She is lovingly remembered by her family, Betty Jean, Blaine, Laurel and Blair HUTTON/ ADAM/ADAMS, Derek, Alexander and Meaghan HUTTON, her sister Joyce (Clarence) MITCHELL, nieces Mibs BOOTH and Catherine (Michael) LONGPRE, nephews John (Christine) BOOTH and David (Mimi) MITCHELL. Predeceased by her parents Thomas and Emily ASHWORTH, her sisters Wyn BOOTH (Roger) and Dorothy ASHWORTH, her nephew Peter MITCHELL and her daughter-in-law Mary Ann HUTTON. Irene enjoyed two careers, first as a nurse having obtained an R.N. from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in 1954. Most of her nursing years were spent as an administrator for the Victorian Order of Nurses in the Ottawa region. In 1969 she began a new career as a teacher in the Hamilton Board at secondary school level, where she remained until retirement. There will be a Service to honour Irene at Swackhamer, Blachford and Wray Funeral Home, 1341 Main Street West (opposite McMaster), where family will receive Friends on Saturday, November 12 from 1 until 2 p.m. when service will take place in the Chapel. Anyone wishing to make memorial donations may consider the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.

RYAN, Isobel Mary (née WADSWORTH)
Isobel Mary RYAN (née WADSWORTH) passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2005 at St. Patrick's Home in Ottawa. Born to Thomas and Mary (née LONGRIDGE) in Kamloops, on February 17, 1918. Isobel grew up in the Okanagan Mission, alongside her cousins Kitty and Joyce HAVERFIELD. She attended Saint Margaret's in Vernon, the Vancouver School of Art and the Manchester School of Art in England. At the outbreak of World War 2 Isobel joined the Canadian Women's Army Corp and as she said, "...spent the war years making coffee and tea". When the war ended Isobel and her Canadian Women's Army Corps friend Mary SCOTT along with Geoff SCOTT set up a restaurant in the Gatineau. She married Ed RYAN in 1954 and they set up house in Old Chelsea. She continued painting and took a great interest in gardening and Canadian history. Predeceased by her husband in 2001, Isobel RYAN is lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Her Friends and family will always remember Lid and Eddy's warm hospitality and the beautiful lake and gardens in Old Chelsea where they lived so graciously. The family will receive Friends at St. Stephen's Church, Old Chelsea, Quebec this Wednesday from 10: 15 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society. Peacefully on Monday, May 9, 2005 at the William Osler Health Centre - Peel Campus at the age of 55. Beloved husband to Diane of 26 years. Loving father to Daniel, Nicole, Marc, and Eric. Jan was a teacher at Thistletown Collegiate High School where he taught History and Economics for many years, and was a devoted member of Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation where he served as a School Rep. Mr. LONGRIDGE was also a proud foster parent and a baseball coach for many children in Brampton as well as his own children. Friends will be received on Thursday, May 12, 2005 from 7-9 p.m. at the Andrews Community Funeral Centre, 8190 Dixie Road, Brampton (north of Steeles Avenue) 905-456-8190. Died February 15th, after a prolonged illness, in Shantou, China. Beloved son of Arnold and Letitia (Tish) EDINBOROUGH, Alastair died with his loving friend, Carla MOBLEY, by his side. Proud father of Campbell and Lucy (Duncan) of London, England, much loved brother of Kip (LONGSTAFF) and Sarah (ILEY) of Oakville, and affectionate uncle to Nicholas and Michael LONGSTAFF, and Meghan and Beth ILEY. Alastair loved China and was a popular teacher there. The family is indebted to the wonderful circle of Friends in Shantou who helped his brother-in-law Stephen ILEY thoughtfully care for Alastair over the past six months: Felix, Lam, Alice, Eric, Sioux, Shelly and Stone. We are grateful to Dr. Deng and the devoted nursing staff at the First Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University for their excellent medical care. Cremation has taken place. Beloved husband of Stella (WILLSEY) DAVIE. Born in London, Ontario, September 19, 1929, he was the loved son of Olive (HUSTON) DAVIE of Saint Thomas, and the late Robert B. DAVIE. Dearly loved father of Lyn DAVIE, Michael DAVIE (Janis), Maryellen BORECKI (Rick), Lori KIERNAN (Derek), Maureen LONGWORTH (Gary,) and Jacki ISERHOFF (Ron.) Dear brother-in-law of Gwen DAVIE, Irene TRACEY (late Verne,) late Agnes and Basil COLE, and the late Marion GRANT. Also fondly remembered by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Dear brother of the late Robert C. "Bud" DAVIE and the late William M. "Bill" DAVIE. He was a life member of Talbot Lodge #546, Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons, Saint Thomas and an active member of the Aylmer Curling Club and the Belmont Golf and Country Club. Passed away on Monday, June 13, 2005 at Scarborough General Hospital after a lengthy illness, peacefully and quietly with his Wife, Daughter and son by his side. He was much loved and will be greatly missed by his wife Rosemary, daughter Virginia and husband Mark HORNBY, son Kenneth and wife Carol DOMIK, 5 grandchildren Melanie, Michael, Michelle, Megan and Benjamin. Also loved by his large extended family, mother Roza, brothers Zoltan, John and wife Shirley, Bob and wife Ann, brother-in-law to Edward and Cathy BYARD and Susan and Ross LONGWORTH. Much loved by many nieces and nephews, and Friends. Predeceased by his father John, and brother Ernest. He was a loving and loyal husband and an amazing father and grandfather. He had the ability to make Friends wherever he went. We will all miss his funny humour and kind nature, unconditional generosity, loyalty and love. All of you who knew him well, knew that he had a strong zest for Living life to the fullest. His outlook on life was 'how he could make it a better place to be'. We should all take his example and grab each day as it comes to us and live it to the fullest. He was a pivotal force in all of our lives and will be terribly missed. Cremation has taken place. Beloved wife of the late Dario LONI (May 22, 2000) and dearly loved mother of Gino and his wife Valerie LONI of Aurora and loved grandmother of Shawn and Matthew. She was the last of her family. Predeceased by Hermine ABRAMOVICZ, Adolfine KLEIN, Oskar, Gustav, Anni and Franz SCHOLZ. Dear aunt of Christine and her husband Victor VELLA. She was born in Czechoslovakia in the town of Schlogelsdorf on September 26, 1928. She was a member of Saint Anne's Church. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas until Monday morning and then to St. Anne's Church for Mass of the Christian Burial at 10: 30 a.m. Cremation to follow. PRETTIE, James Roy
Mr. James Roy PRETTIE, age 79 years, resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully on November 16th, 2005, following a brief illness, with his son Walter by his side. Born on July 23rd, 1926, in Toronto, Ontario he served with distinction in the Canadian Army during World War 2 and in the Middle East as part of the U.N. Peacekeeping Forces. After retiring from the military he was employed as Chief of Security at Port Arthur Shipyards. James is survived by his son Walter Roy, sister Margaret LONSDALE, nieces Beverley WHITBREAD, Carol ROBSON, Karen PRETTIE, Linda PRETTIE, nephews Bryan PRETTIE and the late John (Jack) LONSDALE. He was predeceased by parents Walter and Margaret PRETTIE, brothers Graham and Jack. As James wishes no service will be held. Interment will be held at a later date in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto.
