husband Jack. Helen was a loving mother to Jim, his wife Mabel,

Died peacefully at the Princess Margaret Hospital palliative
care unit with his beloved family at his side. Hersch faced his
illness as he did other obstacles in his life, with optimism,
courage and dignity, and taught us the meaning of perseverance,
commitment and family. He is survived by his loving wife of forty
years, Fern, and will be sadly missed by his three sons and their
partners, Bram and Simon, Matthew and Pam, and Jay and Monique.
Hersch will be especially missed by his cherished granddaughter,
Shoshana who loved nothing more than to sit with her adoring
"zazie". Funeral services will be held at 12.30 p.m. on Wednesday,
Holy Blossom Temple, 1950 Bathurst Street. Shiva 43 Larabee Crescent.
Donations to the Princess Margaret Palliative Care Unit, with
many thanks to the staff who's compassion and competence were
a tremendous comfort.

Screen News and later Chetwynd Films Ltd. He established Robert
Brooks Associates Ltd. in 1969 where he continued his film and
video career for the next 33 years until he retired. He was the
recipient of many awards, including the Bill Hilson Award for
Outstanding Service in the Development of the Motion Picture
Industry, the Kodak New Century Award in Recognition of Personal
Contribution to the Art of Cinematography, the Fuji Award in
Recognition of Extraordinary Contributions to the Canadian Society
of Cinematographers and
an Emmy Award for Film Cinematography
on "Lillehammer '94 -- 16 Days of Glory". He was the first elected
President of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers where he
remained active as an advisor and member of the board of directors.
He chaired the jury for the Canadian Society of Cinematographers
Annual Awards for many years. He was a past board member of the
Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television representing cinematographers.
He enjoyed mentoring young filmmakers and was a past member of
the Advisory Committee for the Film and Television Production
Program at Humber College. He had a long association with Variety
Club -- Tent 28, as well as Special Olympics Canada. He was an
active member of St. Bonaventure Franciscan Parish and a member
of the Knights of Columbus, Council 5080. Bob was a caring and
generous person. He will be sadly missed by his family, Friends
