Cliff▼ and Rose
In loving memory of my dear father, Cliff, who passed away June
24, 2003 and my stepmother, Rose, who passed away December 19,
When thoughts go back as they often do,
We bless the years we shared with you,
How we wish that we could say
We'll go and see Dad and Rose today
To hear their voices, to see their smile,
To sit and talk with them awhile,
No longer in our lives to share,
But in our hearts you're always there
No words describe the loss we feel
Only the absence makes it real
Unspoken thoughts, no outward show,
But deep inside we miss them so,
More than words can say.

OLIVER,
Jerry
A gentle, fun-loving and deeply devoted family man, Jerry
OLIVER
passed away peacefully at the Victoria General Hospital on Wednesday,
June 29, 2005. He will be deeply missed by Sally, his wife and
best friend of nearly 48 years, along with their four children
and their families; Scott, Denice, and Nicolas
OLIVER of Roseau,
Minnesota; Karen
OLIVER,
Kari and Corey
KITT of Winnipeg; Kelly,
Kelvin, Kyle, and Kristopher
WIEBE of Morden; and Forde
OLIVER
of Winnipeg. Jerry was predeceased by his grand_son Jake Gerald
OLIVER, but is survived by his sister, Valerie
JACOBS of Bloomfield
Hills, Michigan, many nieces, nephews, extended family members,
and Friends too numerous to count.
Born in London, Ontario on June 21, 1934, Jerry was the son of
Forde and Kathryn
OLIVER. He grew up in London, where he attended
St. George Elementary School and Central Collegiate High School.
Jerry was a football player with the Golden Ghosts. A full football
scholarship provided him with the opportunity to attend Clemson
University in South Carolina, where he majored in business and
graduated with a Bachelor of Science. Jerry signed with the Montreal
Alouettes of the Canadian Football League but much more important
in his life was the love for his family. His second career was
as a Brew Master. He was a member of the Master Brewers Association
of the Americas, having trained at Wallerstein's in New York.
He was the master brewer at Labatt's in Winnipeg for 15 years
before leaving to start his own business supplying the beverage
industry. He was also a member of the Khartum Shrine Temple and
the Nilestown Masonic Lodge. Jerry was an avid hunter and fisherman
who loved the outdoors and the cottage he built at Lake of the
Woods. He was also a huge sports fan. While he particularly enjoyed
watching boxing and golf, he saved his greatest cheers of support
for his children and grandchildren. Even when Alzheimer and Parkinson's
were taking their toll on Jerry, his essential good nature shone
through. He somehow always managed a warm greeting for old Friends.
The family would like to thank our family doctor Dr. M. Shnider,
the staff at the Victoria Hospital and the many homecare workers
who assisted in helping us make the most of his time with us.
A celebration of Jerry's life will be held on Monday, July 4,
2005 at 2: 00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. #1 E. at
Navin Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer
Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C
4G2 in Jerry's name.
