JEWELL, George Stuart
At age 84 years, Stuart JEWELL died peacefully at Fairfield Manor East in Kingston on Friday, December 9th, 2005, leaving behind his loving wife of 55 years, Betty Livingston. He is also survived by 4 successful daughters, Suzanne JEWELL of King City; Diana JORDISON of Ancaster; Kathleen BRENNENSTUHL of Campbellville and Nancy McMARTIN of Ottawa; and by 2 grand_sons, Christopher and Ross, and 4 granddaughters, Heather, Laura, Michelle and Christine. Mr. JEWELL was a member of The Canadian Army Radar Training Centre during World War 2; is a Commander Retired of the Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons and a Past Master of Seymour Lodge #272 A.F. and A.M. During his Engineering career with Marconi and Westinghouse he was a prolific designer with some 28 patents to his name and won the Engineering Medal for Engineering excellence.

After a rich, full and adventurous life, George passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2005, peacefully at home on a beautiful, sunny day surrounded by his family. He was in his 48th year. He fought a courageous battle against cancer for the past six years of his life. Those who know him would know not to cry for him, but to smile and celebrate his life. Beloved husband of Julia. Proud father of Peter and Katie. He will be missed by brothers John (Luba) and Dave (Linda), and sisters Christine (Dan) and Barb (Dave) and his many nieces and nephews. George will also be missed by his extended family and many Friends. George was an active member of the community, leaving his mark on Unionville with the many homes he built with pride. George was known for his unique and contagious sense of humour. He was a man of endless integrity and generous spirit. He was fiercely loyal to family and Friends. LAURIN, L. Kenneth
Peacefully and without pain or incident, on December 7, 2005 at his beloved Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital in his 82nd year, L. Kenneth LAURIN, Immediate Past President of the Hospital Auxiliary and member of the Board. Former Corporate Secretary, Treasurer, and partner for more than 20 years at Cooper Lybrand, and previously a senior financial officer at Singer and Johnson & Johnson Canada. Predeceased by his beloved wife Emmy Pfenning LAURIN and his brother William Alfred LAURIN of Montreal. Survived by his daughter, Susan BECKERMAN of Prince Rupert, British Columbia his sister-in-law Dolores LAURIN (Regina,) his niece Kathryn LAURIN and her husband Read JORGENSEN (Regina,) his nephew William LAURIN and his wife Lori ALTER (Toronto,) his beloved grandnephews Will and Sheanan Kenneth LAURIN, his cousin Donn WILSON and his wife Lillian, and a host of their loving children and grandchildren in the Burns, Brown and Wilson families of Hamilton, Whitby and Aurora, Ontario. He will also be missed by his close Friends including Dick and Kate CAPPON of Oakville, "the Litchfield Gang," and innumerable others across the country. Ken was born in Montreal on February 17, 1924, was educated at Daniel O'Connell school, and volunteered for service with the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943. He qualified as a Pilot Officer and survived some of the most dangerous flying of the war on Wellington bombers in Europe and later on air transport over "the hump" of the Hymalayas in support of the British Army in Burma. He continued to fly in the Reserves after the war until the advent of jet fighters convinced him that accounting was his true calling. Ken and Emmy lived in Montreal for many years, and built a beautiful vacation home at Jay Peak in Vermont that they continued to retreat to after moving to Toronto in 1980 and on to Oakville in 1989. Ken was a man of tremendous charm and charisma, combined with a savvy and determined mind. His personal talents seemed limitless, from stained glass work through music and writing. His last days were spent surrounded by the love of Friends and family, and concerned and professional care from the staff of Three East at Oakville Trafalgar. Funeral service on Saturday, December 10 at 11 a.m., at Oakview Funeral Home, 56 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville, Ontario L6K 1C7, 905-842-2252. Visitation one hour prior. Died peacefully in her 98th year, after a brief illness. Born on October 21st, 1907 on the island of Fyn, Denmark, Lydia immigrated to Canada in 1951 with her husband and 2 young children. Predeceased by her husband Gordon (1993), survived by her loving children Bende (Allan) and Allan (Dianne).
