Mrs. Eileen Alice JEFFRAY, age 83, of Stratford passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Stratford General Hospital on Saturday November 26, 2005. Born in Goderich, daughter of the late John KNOX and the former Elizabeth WHEATLEY. Eileen was a member of Saint John's United Church and the United Church Women Beloved wife of Stewart JEFFRAY whom she married on June 26, 1943 in Wingham. Loving mother of Paul JEFFRAY and wife Barbara of Dundas, Anne ROBERTSON and husband David of London and Lynn TOPLITSKY and husband Jeff of Lefroy, Ontario. Cherished grandmother of Tan ROBERTSON (Peter THISTLETHWAITE), Toronto, Suzi ROBERTSON (Dan PETERS), Brights Grove, Christy JEFFRAY, Burlington, Laurie (JEFFRAY) PERRETT (Rob), Burlington, Griffin and Bea TOPLITSKY. Suddenly as a result of a motor vehicle accident, at Bluewater Health, Petrolia Site on Sunday, April 3rd, 2005. Jalen Ryan "Smiley" DAY of Watford in his 12th year. Jalen, an inspiring "National Hockey Leaguer" played for the Watford Wolves in the Pee-Wee A division and can be best described as inspirational, tough, a joker, a fighter, a believer, faithful, charming and a violinist. He was truly larger than life. Jalen will always be loved dearly by his parents Dave and Rhonda DAY of Watford, his big brother Jordan and little sister Jessalyn both at home. Actor, singer, producer. Born May 3, 1934, in Winnipeg. Died September 17, 2004, in Toronto of vascular disease, aged 70.
'I think we should keep in touch," he said smiling as he rolled up the car window and drove down the street through the snow. We had met at a post-concert reception at the University of Toronto's Hart House. He was introduced as Bob JEFFREY and we had talked. Snow was falling and he offered me a drive home in his old Austin Mini, which had come all the way from Winnipeg with holes in the floor and a horn operated by touching two wires together. He was lively, open and possessed of an innate charm. He was a singer and an actor. It was just before Christmas and he flew home to Manitoba the next day to see his family for the holidays and to sing at Saint John's Cathedral. In the first few months of the new year, when Bob returned to Toronto, I quickly realized that my new friend was a talented performer, sought after as lead tenor in oratorios and as a chorus singer on Canadian Broadcasting Corporation variety shows.
He seemed to be constantly in motion and his passion was driving a car. He persuaded his bank manager that as a singer/actor, he was a good risk and the old Mini was exchanged for a new and sportier Sprite. It was followed later by a series of convertibles. Then, only a Continental Mark IV would do. His final drive, a silver Intrepid, had a brand name that aptly reflected its owner's determination to maintain his quality of life in his last, difficult years.
That summer of 1961, the Sprite took him to Stratford and the direction of Sir Tyrone Guthrie. The show was Pirates of Penzance. The production would move to the United States, then England.
He kept in touch, writing from New York where he bowled with Kaye Ballard and Jerry Orbach, after the show, late into the night. He wrote in feigned distress from the U.S. bus tour of Pirates in which he understudied the male lead, "that guy never gets sick." Letters from London were full of the excitement of a Command Performance before the Queen at Her Majesty's Theatre and a successful audition for the lead role of Tony in West Side Story that would take him to acclaim and sold-out houses in the capital cities of Scandinavia.
A few years later, back in New York for rehearsals, he wrote glowingly of a new musical: Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris. That show would become part of his life for the next 15 years, taking him to Boston, Montreal, Ottawa, Philadelphia, New York, Fredericton, Sudbury, and to Gravenhurst, Ontario, for the Muskoka Summer Theatre where he worked with artistic director Michael Ayoub in the development of a musical theatre workshop. He bought a log cabin just outside of town and became a reliable presence in that summer theatre community.
By then we had joined forces to create a production company in Toronto to put on stage shows sometimes featuring Bob (now called Robert). Cabaret was popular and Robert was on stage at Old Angelo's, Theatre in the Dell, the Teller's Cage and the Prince Hotel. Sometimes it was our production; often it wasn't.
The years brought diversification. In the 1990s, Robert became enthused by younger artists working in film and video, fostering their work by helping to create the Paulus Film Group. Paulus Film Group's first collaborations always featured Robert in cameo roles.
In September, 2004, weakened by strokes, memory loss, confusion and occasional fury at his condition, he suddenly turned to me while I was driving his Intrepid in the afternoon sunlight and said, smiling: "I think we should keep in touch" and it echoed crisp and clear across the decades -- the same inflection, the same smile as the night we met as the snow fell. Five days later, Robert's heart stopped. There would be no goodbyes.

68, of Gardners Mill, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia, died Tuesday November 22nd, 2005, while on vacation in Florida. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on September 26, 1937, to Sarah and Ernest RACINE, Phil joined The Royal Bank of Canada in 1954 where part of his career took him to Barbados, Antigua, Jamaica, the Bahamas, and New York. He returned to Canada in 1992 where he was a Vice President with Royal Bank until illness caused him to retire in 1993. He is survived by his wife Amy (née JEFFREY,) three sons, Andrew Ernest RACINE of Gardners Mill, Nova Scotia, Dr. Jeffrey Scott RACINE of Dundas, Ontario, Dr. Timothy Philip RACINE of Winnipeg, Manitoba, sister Diann JENSEN of Shelburne, Nova Scotia, six grandchildren, Jody, Ashleigh, Jamie, Adam, Ellis, and Thea, and great-grand_son Isaac. A cremation has taken place according to his wishes. He traveled to London, England where he met the love of his life Patricia, who shared his vision, and after some time ventured to Canada to start a new life together. At the age of 46 he began M.J. Dixon Construction Ltd. after serving many years on sites around Southern Ontario, building relationships. He was also an active participant in community charities and events. His other interests included music, cottage life and travel. Over the course of his life, he pursued a biblical pilgrimage that brought him around the world tracing the steps of Jesus. Michael inspired all who he met, and made them feel like family. He had vision and compassion, he motivated everyone to achieve their goals and beyond. His motto was to never stop learning and that nothing is impossible if you are willing to work hard for it. Passed away peacefully at St. Catharines General Hospital, in her 82nd year. Helen SERIO of St. Catharines, formerly of Toronto and Orillia. Beloved mother of Ronald PYE (predeceased;) Linda JEFFRIES of Niagara-on-the-Lake; Leo SERIO and wife Sheila of Oakville; and Marie and husband Ron WHITE/WHYTE of Barrie. Dear sister of Ted PAGE of Orillia, and the late Ken PYE, Gordon PYE and Lillian CRIPPS. Sadly missed by grandchildren Wallie, Terri, Trudi, Tara, Jeff and Blaine and great-grandchildren Alanna, Troy and Trinity. Funeral Services will be held at the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street East, Orillia on Sunday, November 27th at 2: 30 p.m. A reception and time of visitation will follow. Memorial donations made to the Christian Science Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated by the family.

MOTT, Judith Anne
With her family by her side, at the Belleville General Hospital, on Thursday, January 20, 2005, following a lengthy illness. Born in Belleville on March 29, 1942, Judith was the daughter of the late Mary and Harold MOTT, also of Belleville. Judith is survived by her brother Allan MOTT (Pat TRETINA) of Belleville, her nephews Curtis MOTT (Lori) of Belleville, and Casy MOTT (Courtney HATFIELD) of White Rock, British Columbia, her niece Jennifer TRETINA (Matthews JEFFS,) all of Belleville, and her great-niece and nephews Hunter and Jaden MOTT of Belleville, Justin JEFFS of Belleville, and Jackson HATFIELD of White Rock, British Columbia. Judith will be sadly missed by her circle of Friends from Toronto and Belleville and by Carol TRUMAN (Tony, Emily, and Daniel,) also of Belleville. Visitation will take place Sunday, January 23rd from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at John R. Bush Funeral Home, 80 Highland Ave., Belleville. Respecting Judith's wishes, a private family graveside service will be held at the Belleville Cemetery. Memorial donations to Hospice Quinte would be appreciated by the family. John R.
