Born Toronto September 1, 1920, died Asheville, North Carolina, March 29, 2005 in a hospital near his winter home in Cruso, North Carolina. He enjoyed his summer home in Port Loring, Ontario. Survived by his wife Ramona, daughters Anne (Rick MARTIN) of Brantford, Ontario, Carol (Andris JANSON) of Ottawa, Ontario, and son Robert (Lesley) of Crofton, British Columbia. Predeceased by his parents Edwin and Elsa, sons Paul (1949), John (1983), and brother Donald (1996). Papa to Heather, Lindsay and Erick Martin, Katherine, Robert and Christopher Janson, Emily and Annie ZURRER. Eric was a graduate of U.of T. in Mining Engineering and a Captain in the 1st Hussars Regiment during World War 2. Cremation has taken place. No service at his request. Interment at a later date in Burford, Ontario.

In comfort and within the hearts of his loving family and Friends, Roman passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2005. Forever loved by his wife and soul mate of 54 years Zdzislawa (Niuna) JACKIEWICZ. He was the beloved father of Mariola ANDRUSKY and husband Danny, and Allan W. JACKIEWICZ and wife Grazyna. Cherished grandfather of Kathi MELO and husband Jorge, Julia FANTILLI and husband Giuliano, Bobby, Peter and Victoria JACKIEWICZ. Proud great-grandfather of Ryan, Jordan, Luca and Adam. Also, lovingly remembered by his sister Jadwiga AWIANOWICZ and family, his brother-in-law George JANSON, sister-in-law Danka PUSTELNIAK and husband Gienek, along with many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Jeanne▼ Maria▼ JANSSENS a resident of Port Lambton passed away on Monday Juanuary 24, 2005 at C.K.H.A. Sydenham Campus, in Wallaceburg at the age of 92 years. She was born in Hoboken, Belgium and was a daughter of the late Jozef and Maria (PALMANS) SOMERS. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and the C.W.L. in Port Lambton. Jeanne immigrated to Canada in 1949 with her husband and children. They had resided in Blenhiem and Leamington until they farmed on the 5th concession of Sombra Township. Beloved wife of the late Edward H. JANSSENS (1979.) Loving mother and mother-in-law of Georgette and the late Roger Apers of Tupperville, Yvonne and Hector VAN DAMME of Wallaceburg, George and Marcia JANSSENS of Dresden, Frank and Nancy JANSSENS of Port Huron, Christine JANSSENS and her friend David FREED of Victoria, British Columbia and Margaret and Joe VERHOEVEN of Chatham. Sadly missed by 21 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. Kind sister-in-law of Rosalia JANSSENS of Belgium and August and Josephine JANSSENS of Kerwood. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by an infant daughter, one sister and two brothers. The late Mrs. JANSSENS rested at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home, 639 Elgin Street, in Wallaceburg, until Friday, January 28, 2005 when the funeral mass was celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Port Lambton at 10: 30 a.m. with Fr. Greg BONIN, celebrant. Mr. Dennis MYERS presided at the organ and the church choir sang the mass. A eulogy was given by Jean ELLIOT/ELLIOTT. The readings were done by Eric VERHOEVEN, Ellen Jennen and Michelle ANJIMA. The pall was placed on the casket by her children. The gifts were brought up to the alter by Joanne JOHNSTON, Brian JOHNSTON, Linda STEFINA, Erika STEFINA and Lisa VERHOEVEN. Pall Beaerers were Rene APERS, David APERS, Ed JANSSENS, Gerry JANSSENS, Ron VAN DAMME and Michael VERHOEVEN. Flower Bearers were Kathleen VANDEVENNE, Jennifer HASTINGS, Donna JANSSENS and Jane McFADDEN. Interment was in Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery. Frances "Fran" passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 12, 2005 at the age of 86 with her family by her side. Survived by her three daughters: Judi (Brian) Dew, Jan (Peter) WOOLSEY, Deb (Mark) LEDWON and seven grandchildren: Carly, Christopher, Jordan, Cody, Shaun, Tyler and Riley all of Kelowna and her loving extended family. Sadly predeceased by the love of her life, husband "Jimmy". A special thanks to Mom's caregivers Rhonda, Wanda and Gwen and to Dr's CLARK and STEVENS. Fran was an amazing woman of style and grace. Ruth Barbara SCHLEGEL, 87, of Tavistock passed away at her residence on Monday, April 4, 2005. She was born in Wilmot Township, Waterloo County on February 4, 1918 a daughter of the late Christian E. SCHWARTZENTRUBER and the former Mary JANTZI/YANTZI. She married LeRoy "Roy" SCHLEGEL in Wilmot Township on June 3, 1936. He predeceased her on December 26, 1983. Mother was a beautiful hostess and was known for her generous hospitality and her cooking abilities in summer camps and nursing homes. Following their marriage she and Roy farmed in Wilmot Township until they founded the PeopleCare Tavistock Nursing Center in 1968. She was a member of Wilmot Mennonite Church. She was lovingly cared for by Myrna SIMON, Eva McLAREN and Kathryn FLETCHER and passed away peacefully in her home. She will be missed by family and Friends, but fond memories of her will be treasured in our hearts forever.

85, of Tavistock passed away in Stratford General Hospital on Thursday, December 22, 2005 with his family by his side. He was born in East Zorra Township on October 9, 1920 a son of the late Joseph and Lydia (LICHTI) ROTH. With his wife he was co-founder of Roth Electric Limited at R.R.#1, Tavistock and was a member of Tavistock Mennonite Church. He married the former Erma BAECHLER in East Zorra Township on January 30, 1944. She predeceased him on September 6, 2000. Mahlon is survived by two daughters, Irene GOLLNITZ of Tavistock, Beulah PATTERSON of Stratford; four sons, Sherman and wife Jenny ROTH of Zurich; Cephas and wife Paulette ROTH, Murray and wife Barbara ROTH and Eugene ROTH, all of Tavistock sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Ina and husband Lavern BENDER, Elma and husband Elmer JANTZI/YANTZI and Doris JANTZI/YANTZI; four brothers, Mervin and wife Dorothy ROTH, M. Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Lydia came to Canada from Estonia as a displaced person after World War 2. Lydia moved to London in 1955 where she landed a job as an artist for Simpson's. Later she was employed by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications in London in highway design (though she herself never drove a car!) for 18 years, retiring in 1982. Cremation has taken place at Hanson's Arbor Funeral Chapel in Penticton, British Columbia. A celebration of Lydia's life will be held in West Linn, Oregon on October 16, 2005. Friends called at the May Funeral Home, Markdale, Friday evening, November 25. Reverend Mark WAUGH officiated at a funeral service held at Annesley United Church, Markdale, Saturday, November 26 at 2: 30 p.m.
A eulogy and remembrances were shared by grandchildren Danna, Douglas and Eric. Music included the congregational hymns "The Lord's My Shepherd, I'll Not Want" and "What a Friend We Have In Jesus," accompanied by organist David FRIES. Special music "Somebody's Hero" was played at the conclusion of the service.
The grand_sons of Iris served as pallbearers and honourary pallbearers, and her granddaughters carried floral tributes. Interment was in Markdale Cemetery.
Memorial donations were directed to the Centre Grey Hospital Health Services Foundation - Building Fund and the charity of choice. Following the service the Friends and relatives joined the family for refreshments and fellowship in Annesley United Church Fellowship Hall.

Pilot found dead inside ultralight plane

The search for an ultralight airplane and its pilot, missing since Thursday, ended tragically late yesterday. A civilian spotted the plane near a residential property about 50 kilometres north of London.
The body of the pilot, Emil JANUSIEWICZ, 41, of Waterdown, was found in the plane. Earlier yesterday, planes, snowmobiles and searchers on foot had scoured the heavily wooded area.
Transport Canada will conduct an investigation into the cause of the crash.

JANYK, William
April 26, 2005 after a protracted struggle with Progressive Supra Nuclear Palsy. Born in Sandwich, Ontario on November 2, 1920, Bill grew up in Queensborough and operated a large poultry farm in Port Coquitlam until he entered the army. During the war, he served as a drill sergeant stationed in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. In 1947 he moved to Vancouver Island and was planer mill foreman at Western Forest Industries in Honeymoon Bay from 1947 to 1963. He also served as Chief of the Honeymoon Bay Volunteer Fire Department. After a brief term as western sales rep for P.B. Yates Equipment in Vancouver, Bill created Marwil Services Ltd., helping to build the sawmill industry in the Pacific Northwest. He retired to Mayne Island in 1984 where he built his dream home at Village Bay. His pleasant retirement was spent between Mayne Island and Palm Desert, California. In his latter years, Bill lived in White Rock, eventually settling at Brock Fahrni veterans' pavilion in Vancouver where he passed away peacefully on the evening of April 26. Bill exemplified the ethics of hard work and fairness. He valued honesty and integrity in others and was respected for those fine qualities himself. Bill will be especially missed by his three sons, Bill Jr. of Whistler, Robert of Bellingham, Washington, and Barry of Gibsons, by his seven grandchildren, his first wife Beatrice, his two brothers Alec and Mitchell and his sisters Nellie (FULTON,) Annie (McKINNON) and Nettie (TURNER.) Predeceased by younger brother Johnny and older sister Mary (MAJDANSKI.) A memorial service will he held at the Queensborough Community Centre in New Westminster on Saturday, May 14 at 1 p.m. Donations to the Parkinson Society of British Columbia.

Passed away peacefully at Princess Margaret Hospital on Sunday, October 16th, 2005. She will be dearly missed by both Friends and family. Memorial Gathering will be held Friday, October 21st, 2005, 7: 00 p.m. at the family's home. Many thanks to the staff at Princess Margaret and S.R.T. nursing staff who were so kind. Mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, talented homemaker, gardener, arts enthusiast, antique collector and hostess extraordinaire, she went silently and very gently into that good night. Born in Vienna in the early months of World War I, she lived in Austria and former Czechoslovakia until she emigrated to Canada in 1951 with her husband and four (soon to be five) young daughters. From her mother, Matilde BOUKAL, an opera singer, and her father Richard WALDEK, owner of the Grand Hotel Waldek in Pilsen, she interited a love of opera and a remarkable sense of style. Friends and family have witnessed with sadness more than a decade of dramatically declining health. Her daughters are very grateful to caregivers Francine BARIT and more recently Brenda SYLVESTER together with the dedicated staff of the 6th floor at Leisureworld Scarboro.
Predeceased in 2002 by her husband of 63 years, Jaro, she is remembered with love by her daughters Olga KORPER (Leo▼ MEYER,) Sylvia BUCEK, Trude MEYER (Wolfgang), Mimi MARROCCO (Frank), and Hélène BUCEK- MacKEY (Ernie). Chief Executive Officer of Calm Air International Ltd., passed away at the age of 69 in his home at Paint Lake, Manitoba, surrounded by his loving family. Arnold is survived by his wife Gail and his four children, Marion, Nelson (Toni,) Margo (Brian BERRY) and Monica (Lionnel JANZEN,) and 6 grandchildren, Kalie, Madison, Raynie, Max, Carl and Paige. Arnold with his wife Gail, the founders and creators of Calm Air International Ltd., lead a dynamic and challenging life building one of Canada's largest privately owned regional airlines. His soft smile and witty charm will be missed by the many people he captivated each day. Today Calm Air serves communities throughout Manitoba and the Kivalliq region of the Nunavut. *Among his innumerable accomplishments, Arnold served a term as Mayor of Lynn Lake in the late 70's. He sat on the Board of Directors for Manitoba Telephone System from 1994-2001 CDEF - lending arm of the provincial government; Director of Airline Transportation Association of Canada; Northern Cancer Fundraiser- with Janet FILMON. Arnold's life will be remembered and celebrated at a community gathering held in Thompson, Manitoba., Wednesday, September 14th 2: 00-4:00 p.m. at the Legion Hall. A Farewell Gathering will be held in Winnipeg at the Fairmont Hotel from 7: 00-10:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 18th.
