is survived by numerous brothers and sisters in Edmonton, Alberta,

Scotia. He will be remembered as a man of principle, fairness,
discernment and wonderful humour. He had an alert mind, held
a lifelong commitment to the Catholic Church, read voraciously,
ran the country from his armchair, and loved baseball, hockey
and the spectator sport of federal politics. He was tremendously
proud of his children and grandchildren as well as his French/Scottish/Irish
heritage and Cape Breton roots. Prior to his retirement in 1982,
he worked at Francon Ltee in Montreal (now Lafarge Concrete)
for 32 years. He was an early advocate of occupational health
programs, workplace safety and disability management. Brother-in-law

always loved a party and was often the last to leave. He took

resident of Toronto, and graduate of De La Salle (Oaklands),
York University and University of Toronto (O.I.S.E.), Norm was
a classroom teacher for 12 years and then moved to guidance at
the elementary, secondary and board levels in the former M.S.S.B.
(now T.C.D.S.B.) for the next 23 wonderful years. He also taught
a wide variety of psychology and counselling courses for Humber
C.A.A.T., York University and the University of Toronto. The
undisputed 'Mayor' of University City, Norm was President of
the University City Community Association, President of the Board
of Directors of York Condominium Corporation #54 for 17 years,
Chairman of the North York Secondary Plan Committee for York
University, and was Master of Ceremonies for numerous Canada
Day celebrations in University City. His theatrical experience
included 25 years with T.C.D.S.B. Staff Arts as both a performer
and technical producer and 8 years with Spotlight Music Productions
as a performer. He set a shining example of courage by performing
8 different shows while confined to a wheelchair over the last
4 years. Norm fought a crippling Parkinson's Plus disorder, Multi
System Atrophy, for 7 1/2 years with grace, courage and determination.
Norm's quality of life was greatly enhanced by a dedicated group
of 15 Friends and neighbours who conducted speech therapy sessions
with him on a regular basis for over 3 years. Our deep appreciation
for their excellent and compassionate care goes to Dr. Mark

Born April 18th, 2005 in Toronto at Mount Sinai Hospital, and
died suddenly in his sleep early Saturday morning, April 30th,
2005 after only 11 days with us. He came into the world wide-eyed
and curious, in the presence of his mother, father and two grandmothers.
During the short time that he lived, he was loved greatly and
touched the hearts of those around him. He was a sweetheart with
an angelic face and will be dearly missed by his parents, Douglas

On Thursday, April 28, 2005, after a short and difficult illness
which he faced with courage and tenacity throughout, Dorothy,
his loving wife of the past five years remained steadfastly at
his side. Predeceased by father, Douglas Carleton and mother
Margaret JAMIESON; daughter Carole; brother Norman; and three
sisters, Dorothy, Betty, and Shirley. He will be greatly missed
and sadly remembered by his immediate family, brother Gordon
and wife Marina, sisters Pat and Margaret, and sister-in-law
Emily, along with four surviving children from a previous marriage,
Douglas, David, Shirley and Laureen, respectively. He is survived
also by two step-daughters, Debbie and Brenda, and several grandchildren
for whom he cared deeply, particularly his grand_son, Ryan. Cremation
has already occurred. A Memorial Service in celebration of Doug's
life will be held at 1: 00 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2005 in the
Chapel at Hendrick Funeral Home, 294 Main Street South, Mount
Forest, 519-323-2631. Donations in Doug's name may be made to

in Toronto on Sunday, September 4th, 2005. Dearly missed and
remembered as an amazing individual who touched so many lives,
and for his quirky sense of humour, love of the theatre in all
its aspects, pride of Canada, occasional constant flirtatious
nature, and maker of industrial strength Caesar salads. Norm
always loved a party and was often the last to leave. He took
great joy in helping others grow strong and reach their full
potential, and valued his role as mentor to many, many people.

sorely missed by many Friends and former colleagues. A lifetime
resident of Toronto, and graduate of De La Salle (Oaklands),
York University and University of Toronto (O.I.S.E.), Norm was
a classroom teacher for 12 years and then moved to guidance at
the elementary, secondary and board levels in the former M.S.S.B.
(now T.C.D.S.B.) for the next 23 wonderful years. He also taught
a wide variety of psychology and counseling courses for Humber
C.A.A.T., York University and the University of Toronto. The
undisputed "Mayor" of University City, Norm was President of
the University City Community Association, President of the Board
of Directors of York Condominium Corporation No. 54 for 17 years,
Chairman of the North York Secondary Plan Committee for York
University, and was Master of Ceremonies for numerous Canada
Day celebrations in University City. His theatrical experience
included 25 years with T.C.D.S.B. Staff Arts as both a performer
and technical producer and 8 years with Spotlight Music Productions
as a performer. He set a shining example of courage by performing
8 different shows while confined to a wheelchair over the last
4 years. Norm fought a crippling Parkinson's Plus disorder, Multi
System Atrophy, for 7 ½ years with grace, courage and determination.
Norm's quality of life was greatly enhanced by a dedicated group
of 15 Friends and neighbours who conducted speech therapy sessions
with him on a regular basis for over 3 years. Our deep appreciation
for their excellent and compassionate care goes to Dr. Mark

On May 17, 2005 Paul Pearlman passed away at the age of 79 in
Edmonton, Alberta. Paul,
son of Sam and Gertrude
PEARLMAN was
born in Regina, youngest of 6 children. Paul lived most of his
life in Regina. He took over the family business Pearlman's Ladies
Wear upon his father's death in 1953 and with progressive vision
he grew it into a regional chain. Pearlman's Ladies Wear became
a household name in Saskatchewan. He was a leader in the business
community including the Regina Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown
and Shopping Centres Merchant's Associations. Paul was very dedicated
to his Regina Jewish community, serving as board member for 25
years and president. Paul was married in 1951 to Anita
JAMPOLSKY
of Regina. They had three children and 5 grandchildren and were
happily married for 53 years. In 1997 upon retirement Paul and
Anita moved to Edmonton. As snowbirds they spent their winters
in Palm Springs, California where they enjoyed playing tennis
and spending time with their Friends and family. He will forever
be remembered and sadly missed by his wife Anita, daughter Connie
(Danny) ZALMANOWITZ, grandchildren Jana and Laurence of Edmonton,
sons Sam (Myra)
