Arthur Reginald of Elgin Manor, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, February 27, 2005 at the age of 92. He was the beloved husband of the late Lyla Asenath (BOGART.) Loved father of Lynn Arthur and his wife Elsie HUTCHINGS of Southwold and Ferne Irene HUTCHINGS- JAMESON of Saint Thomas. Beloved grandfather of Jeanette (Randy) VOADEN of Waterloo, Barbara (Martin) WALT of Brantford, Margaret HUTCHINGS of Caledon, Daniel HUTCHINGS of Southwold, Joy (Rod) CAMPBELL of Saint Thomas. Loved great-grandfather of Josiah, Charity and Issac Walt, Matthew and Emily VOADEN, Danielle Asenath CAMPBELL. Loving brother of Vernon and Marie HUTCHINGS and brother-in-law Dean BOGART.
Art was born in England on October 10, 1912, the son of the late Ernest and Edith HUTCHINGS, and was predeceased by his brother Harold and nephew Reggie. Lovingly remembered by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Art was proud to be a farmer who loved life and had a wonderful sense of humour and was a life long member of McBrides Fellowship Church. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas, where funeral service will be held Thursday at 1: 00 p.m. Visitation Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Interment in the spring at McArthur Cemetery. Peacefully at home with his family at his side on Monday, April 4, 2005 in his 84th year. Loving husband of 57+ years of Frances (ANZELC) and devoted father of Marilyn (Cosmo) CHINAPPI, John (Carolyn PHILLIPS), Marguerite, Daniel Jr., Paul (Lynn JAMIESON), Geraldine (Vincent VALENTINI,) Paula (Michael SENDERAK) and Elizabeth (fiancé Jean-Paul CHATELAIN.) Dear grandfather of Brian, Cynthia, David, Nicole, Matthew, Michael, Stefan, Anton and Kristof. He is survived by numerous brothers and sisters in Edmonton, Alberta, Belleville, Ontario and Sydney Mines, Sydney and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He will be remembered as a man of principle, fairness, discernment and wonderful humour. He had an alert mind, held a lifelong commitment to the Catholic Church, read voraciously, ran the country from his armchair, and loved baseball, hockey and the spectator sport of federal politics. He was tremendously proud of his children and grandchildren as well as his French/Scottish/Irish heritage and Cape Breton roots. Prior to his retirement in 1982, he worked at Francon Ltee in Montreal (now Lafarge Concrete) for 32 years. He was an early advocate of occupational health programs, workplace safety and disability management. Brother-in-law to Norma FORSTER, and Frank and Marilyn ANZELC of Toronto, Ontario. Uncle and Great-Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Dearly missed and remembered as an amazing individual who touched so many lives, and for his quirky sense of humour, love of the theatre in all its aspects, pride of Canada, occasional constant flirtatious nature, and maker of industrial strength Caesar salads. Norm always loved a party and was often the last to leave. He took great joy in helping others grow strong and reach their full potential, and valued his role as mentor to many, many people. Dearly beloved and loving soul mate, partner and husband of Barbara DATLEN- KELLY for 26 years (back to 1979;) former husband of Mary Ellen JAMIESON; father of Sheila Anne KELLY; stepfather of James DATLEN (Dave CLEGHORN) of Brampton, Stephen DATLEN (Rachel) of Brampton, and John DATLEN (Jennifer) of San Francisco; eldest son of Dr. Norman KELLY and the late Helen KELLY née McCARTHY) of Toronto; brother of Robert KELLY of Toronto; eldest nephew of many aunts and uncles, and eldest of 22 cousins. He will be sorely missed by many Friends and former colleagues. A lifetime resident of Toronto, and graduate of De La Salle (Oaklands), York University and University of Toronto (O.I.S.E.), Norm was a classroom teacher for 12 years and then moved to guidance at the elementary, secondary and board levels in the former M.S.S.B. (now T.C.D.S.B.) for the next 23 wonderful years. He also taught a wide variety of psychology and counselling courses for Humber C.A.A.T., York University and the University of Toronto. The undisputed 'Mayor' of University City, Norm was President of the University City Community Association, President of the Board of Directors of York Condominium Corporation #54 for 17 years, Chairman of the North York Secondary Plan Committee for York University, and was Master of Ceremonies for numerous Canada Day celebrations in University City. His theatrical experience included 25 years with T.C.D.S.B. Staff Arts as both a performer and technical producer and 8 years with Spotlight Music Productions as a performer. He set a shining example of courage by performing 8 different shows while confined to a wheelchair over the last 4 years. Norm fought a crippling Parkinson's Plus disorder, Multi System Atrophy, for 7 1/2 years with grace, courage and determination. Norm's quality of life was greatly enhanced by a dedicated group of 15 Friends and neighbours who conducted speech therapy sessions with him on a regular basis for over 3 years. Our deep appreciation for their excellent and compassionate care goes to Dr. Mark GUTTMAN, Jill BURKHOLDER and Janice STOBER from the Centre for Movement Disorders; Bonnie BERESKIN, Speech Language Pathologist and the Day Hospital staff at Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care; Christine MacKIE and Jackie WILLIAMS from Visiting Homemakers Association staff at Bellwoods Centre; Valda LEE of St. Elizabeth Health Care; Margaret WILTSHIRE from Toronto Community Care Access Centre Maggie DIDIANO from Canadian Paraplegic Association; and all the staff (especially those on Oxford West) at Kensington Gardens Long Term Care Facility. On Thursday, April 28, 2005, after a short and difficult illness which he faced with courage and tenacity throughout, Dorothy, his loving wife of the past five years remained steadfastly at his side. Predeceased by father, Douglas Carleton and mother Margaret JAMIESON; daughter Carole; brother Norman; and three sisters, Dorothy, Betty, and Shirley. He will be greatly missed and sadly remembered by his immediate family, brother Gordon and wife Marina, sisters Pat and Margaret, and sister-in-law Emily, along with four surviving children from a previous marriage, Douglas, David, Shirley and Laureen, respectively. Dearly missed and remembered as an amazing individual who touched so many lives, and for his quirky sense of humour, love of the theatre in all its aspects, pride of Canada, occasional constant flirtatious nature, and maker of industrial strength Caesar salads. Norm always loved a party and was often the last to leave. He took great joy in helping others grow strong and reach their full potential, and valued his role as mentor to many, many people. Dearly beloved and loving soul mate, partner and husband of Barbara DATLEN- KELLY for 26 years (back to 1979;) former husband of Mary Ellen JAMIESON; father of Sheila Anne KELLY; stepfather of James DATLEN (Dave CLEGHORN) of Brampton, Stephen DATLEN (Rachel) of Brampton, and John DATLEN (Jennifer) of San Francisco; eldest son of Dr. Norman KELLY and the late Helen KELLY née McCARTHY) of Toronto; brother of Robert KELLY of Toronto; eldest nephew of many aunts and uncles, and eldest of 22 cousins. A lifetime resident of Toronto, and graduate of De La Salle (Oaklands), York University and University of Toronto (O.I.S.E.), Norm was a classroom teacher for 12 years and then moved to guidance at the elementary, secondary and board levels in the former M.S.S.B. (now T.C.D.S.B.) for the next 23 wonderful years. He also taught a wide variety of psychology and counseling courses for Humber C.A.A.T., York University and the University of Toronto. The undisputed "Mayor" of University City, Norm was President of the University City Community Association, President of the Board of Directors of York Condominium Corporation No. 54 for 17 years, Chairman of the North York Secondary Plan Committee for York University, and was Master of Ceremonies for numerous Canada Day celebrations in University City. His theatrical experience included 25 years with T.C.D.S.B. Staff Arts as both a performer and technical producer and 8 years with Spotlight Music Productions as a performer. He set a shining example of courage by performing 8 different shows while confined to a wheelchair over the last 4 years. Norm fought a crippling Parkinson's Plus disorder, Multi System Atrophy, for 7 ½ years with grace, courage and determination. Norm's quality of life was greatly enhanced by a dedicated group of 15 Friends and neighbours who conducted speech therapy sessions with him on a regular basis for over 3 years. Our deep appreciation for their excellent and compassionate care goes to Dr. Mark GUTTMAN, Jill BURKHOLDER and Janice STOBER from the Centre for Movement Disorders; Bonnie BERESKIN, Speech Language Pathologist and the Day Hospital staff at Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care; Christine MacKIE and Jackie WILLIAMS from Visiting Homemakers Association staff at Bellwoods Centre; Valda LEE of St. Elizabeth Health Care; Margaret WILTSHIRE from Toronto Community Care Access Centre Maggie DIDIANO from Canadian Paraplegic Association; and all the staff (especially those on Oxford west) at Kensington Gardens Long Term Care Facility. She will be fondly remembered by her 5 grandchildren Allan (Tammy), Steven, Jennifer, Laura, and Katie. Also survived by her brother Wes HANCOCK (Helen) of Scarborough, and brother-in-law Reg YATES of Scarborough. Grace was past member of the United Church Women at Carleton United Church in St. Catharines, member of The Federated Women's Institutes of Ontario and a volunteer of Christy Street Hospital (during World War 2) in Toronto. PEARLMAN, Paul (December 3, 1925-May 17, 2005)
On May 17, 2005 Paul Pearlman passed away at the age of 79 in Edmonton, Alberta. Paul, son of Sam and Gertrude PEARLMAN was born in Regina, youngest of 6 children. Paul lived most of his life in Regina. He took over the family business Pearlman's Ladies Wear upon his father's death in 1953 and with progressive vision he grew it into a regional chain. Pearlman's Ladies Wear became a household name in Saskatchewan. He was a leader in the business community including the Regina Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown and Shopping Centres Merchant's Associations. Paul was very dedicated to his Regina Jewish community, serving as board member for 25 years and president. Paul was married in 1951 to Anita JAMPOLSKY of Regina. They had three children and 5 grandchildren and were happily married for 53 years. In 1997 upon retirement Paul and Anita moved to Edmonton. As snowbirds they spent their winters in Palm Springs, California where they enjoyed playing tennis and spending time with their Friends and family. He will forever be remembered and sadly missed by his wife Anita, daughter Connie (Danny) ZALMANOWITZ, grandchildren Jana and Laurence of Edmonton, sons Sam (Myra) PEARLMAN, granddaughter Laura of Vancouver, and Michael (Kate) PEARLMAN, grandchildren Lilyanna and Jack of Toronto, sister Etta (Harold) HYMAN and brother-in-law Ted JAMES.
