DESANTIS,
Gloria
Ann (née
SWARTMAN) (1936-2005)
At the age of 69 years, Gloria joined her mother Margaret, father
Eldon, and brother Gary into Glory on Saturday, October 22, 2005
at the Sarcee Hospice in Calgary, Alberta. Born on March 7, 1936,
Gloria grew up on Bleeker Street in Toronto with her brothers
Norm, Ron and Gary. This home was full of a whole lot of fun
and love. The Swartman residence was the place to be for the
kids in the neighbourhood, always enough room for one more at
dinner. As Gloria grew into a stunning young lady, she began
an exciting social life; she loved to dance, sing, and enjoy
the resort life at the lakes in Northern Ontario. During Gloria's
travels in the fifties she had many adventures, created lifelong
memories and met a group of Friends that would remain throughout
her life. Gloria worked as a Receptionist for much of her life,
but for quite a few years worked in Classified Sales for the
Mirror (Scarborough) with a group of amazing women. Gloria moved
to Calgary in 1993. She continued her passion for the outdoors
frequently hiking and camping in the mountains. She began a new
career with
ING
Insurance and retired in 2001. Gloria is survived
by her son Carl; his wife Beverley; and their daughters, Brittany,
and Maddison. Her youngest son Larry lives in Sunderland, Ontario
with Kim and their sons, Kyle, Tyler, and Adam. Gloria will also
be missed by her extended family, Wendy Ayres, Morgan, and Wade.
Gloria's family gave her the most pleasure; to watch them succeed,
excel and enjoy life gave her the greatest joy. Gloria was a
pillar for her family; providing them with unconditional love,
pride and support. When her grandchildren competed in any event,
Gloria always attended and was their "Number One Fan." Gloria
will be laid to rest with her mother and brother in a private
ceremony at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto, on Wednesday,
October 26, 2005 at 1: 00 p.m. If Friends so desire, memorial
tributes may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society,
or to the Salvation Army. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com
