ANDREAE, Herbert Christopher (1919-2005)
Passed away peacefully in his sleep after a prolonged illness. Beloved husband of Ruth (née BAUMAN/BOWMAN,) married 63 years. Dear father of Patricia HORNSBY (Fred) and Dan. Will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Chris HOLT (Audrey,) Carrie HOLT and Charlie HOLT, and by his great-grandchildren Emma and Ben HOLT. He was pre-deceased by his siblings, Corrie WOOD, Dr. Arnold ANDREWS, and Mary ANDREAE. The son of a Dutch diplomat, he served as an Royal Canadian Air Force bomber pilot in Burma during World War 2. After returning from the War, he graduated from The University of Toronto with a Master of Commerce degree. He began his career working for Harry JACKMAN as an investment analyst with the Jackman Group of Companies. After seven rewarding years working with Mr. JACKMAN, he ventured out on his own and later brought in prominent investment managers, Jim COLE and Austin THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON, to form an investment counselling business. One of the pioneers of the Canadian investment management industry, he launched and managed the Andreae Equity Fund, a leading equity mutual fund in the 1950's and 1960's. He also served as President of the Security Analysts' Association of Toronto in 1957-58 (a for-runner of the Toronto Society of Financial Analysts) and as a director of the Debenture Securities Corporation. In 1970, at the age of 50, he was described by the Toronto business media as, 'the grand old man of mutual funds.' He later sold Andreae Equity to First National City Bank of New York (now Citibank), negotiating the transaction with its President, Walter Wriston. After this sale, he agreed to serve as President of International Trust Company, Citibank's Canadian operation, and later acted as a consultant to Citibank in Geneva, Switzerland. After living in Geneva for several years, he moved to London, England and then returned to Toronto in 2004 to be closer to his family. An avid student of his family's genealogy, he was an enthusiastic supporter of the Andreae Ouheidkamer Museum, a regional museum located near an ancestral estate in Kollum, Holland. He spoke several languages and enjoyed travelling extensively. He enjoyed sailing and was a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Yacht Club. He was also a member of The Albany Club and The National Club. Private funeral arrangements have been made. Donations in Herbert's memory will be gratefully accepted by the Alzheimer's Society of Toronto.

In his 70th year. Suddenly at Markham-Stouffville Hospital with his family at his side, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2005. John will be lovingly remembered and ever missed by his beloved wife Bev (née HORNSHAW,) son Kenneth and wife Darlene, daughter Karen and husband Daniel HEAP, and son Keith. HORNYAK, Sister Anna
"Fiat Voluntas Tua" (Thy Will Be Done)
Sister Anna HORNYAK lived her motto "Thy Will be Done" as a Sister of Social Service for 80 years. She returned to God on Monday, November 28, 2005 (at the Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse Infirmary where she has been living since April 2003). Born in Alsocece, Hungary, to HORNYAK Jozsef and Madarasz Borbala, she joined the Social Mission Sisters in Budapest in 1922 and then transferred to the Sisters of Social Service which branched out of the Social Mission Society in May 1923. She took her first vows in Paris, France in 1925 and came to Stockholm, Saskatchewan, the same year. In Stockholm she was organist and choir director at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. She was a parish social worker there for 46 years with little interruption. She also worked in the rectory, house, sewing room and garden. When it was necessary, she collected money in the U.S. to fund the Canadian Sisters of Social Service novitiate. For a year in the late 1920's she was director of accommodation at the shrine to the American Martyrs in Auriesville. She worked in the community's day care centre in Montreal and in Holy Spirit Centre in Hamilton. She was the last living member of the original foundation of the Sisters of Social Service, founded in 1923. She is survived by her niece Margaret KUKUCSKA of Welland, Ontario, by three grand-nieces and a grand-nephew in Ontario, a step-brother John, and a step-sister, Mrs. William GALL, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and several other relatives in Hungary. Special thanks to the Sisters of St. Joseph and the Staff of the Infirmary who provided such wonderful care during Sr. Anna's time with them. May Sister Anna rest in peace. Prayer vigil will take place on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at the Sisters of St. Joseph (3377 Bayview Ave.) at 7: 30 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated in the chapel of the Sisters of St. Joseph (3377 Bayview Ave.) on Thursday, December 1, 2005 at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hamilton.

He also had been a custodian for the Kent County Board of Education retiring in 1980. Beloved husband of the late Margaret (TURNER) THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON. Mr. Walter ANDERSON a resident of Wallaceburg for many years, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2005 at Sydenham Residence in Wallaceburg, at the age of 89 years. Walter was born in Whitewood, Saskatchewan and was a son of the late Adolph and Dagny (GREGERSON) ANDERSON. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, in Wallaceburg, and was a past Chairman of the Deacons Board of the church. Walter had worked for Hillerich and Bradsby making hockey sticks for the pro's. Walter loved golf, cross country skiing, bowling and participating in, as well as a fan of many sports. Predeceased by his first wife Margaret (HURLBUT) ANDERSON (1977) and second wife Marnie (KELLETT) ANDERSON (2002.) Dear father and father-in-law of Lynn and Larry KNAZOOK of Wallaceburg and Brian and Eileen ANDERSON of Chatham. Sadly missed by his granddaughters, Beth, Heather, Erin and Tarah-Lynn. Passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at Quinte Health Care Belleville General, at age 86, with his family at his side. Loving father of Marilyn TOMASSETTI. Grandfather of Tina BETTI and Tracey TOMASSETTI and great-grandfather (grandpa Victor) of Blake and Eric. Survived by sisters Laura COUPER and Olive LYNSKEY and brother Harry. Predeceased by brother J. Edward. Will be missed by sister-in-law Daisey and many nephews and nieces and Friends. The family will receive Friends at The Marshall Funeral Home, 10366 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill (4th traffic light north of Major Mackenzie Dr.) on Thursday, July 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Service in the chapel on Friday at 11 a.m. Memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Suddenly at Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie on Tuesday, September 27, 2005. Stella HORSLEY, in her 85th year, was the beloved wife of the late Robert BARBOUR. Dear mother of Kerry of Barrie, David (Cathy) of Edmonton, Tom (Donna) of Coboconk, Peter (Helene) of Aylmer, Tim (Joanne) of Brampton and predeceased by her daughter Suzanne SWAIN. Loving grandmother of Kelly, Robyn, Katie, Sasha, Adam, Mark, Curtis, Taylor, Anneke, Stephen, Jennifer, Ben, Cheryl, Lori, and great-grandmother of Morgan, Breanne, Paige, Hunter, and Harrison. Mother-in-law of Sandra BARBOUR of Stayner, Karen SCOTT- BARBOUR of Thornton, Brian SWAIN of Coboconk. The family of Mrs. BARBOUR will receive Friends at the Jardine Funeral Home, "Illman-Platten Chapel", 8 Princes' St. West, Fenelon Falls on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service from Knox United Church, Coboconk on Thursday, September 29 at 1 p.m. Interment at Coboconk Cemetery.
