Grandpa will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Eric and Kelsey KOWALCHUK, by his step grandchildren Justin (Marisol,) Kyle and William and by his step great grandchildren Owen and Kirsten. Gordon DOUGLAS/DOUGLASS of Warkworth, son of the late William Walker DOUGLAS/DOUGLASS and the late Elizabeth Rose (WEBB.) Beloved husband of Frances Alene (SORNBERGER.) Loving father of Robert "Bob" DOUGLAS/DOUGLASS and his wife Lynda of R.R.#7, Brighton, and Rosemary and her husband Bill NASH of Ajax. Dear brother of Lillian HELSON of California. Predeceased by his sister Evelyn HOOVER. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Michael and Melissa DOUGLAS/DOUGLASS, both of Whitby and Blair and Peter NASH, both of Ajax. Gordon is sadly missed by his nephew Ronald HELSON, and his niece Diane YOUNG, both of California. He was a retiree of Customs and Excise, Government of Canada. After a brief illness, Russell passed away peacefully at Centenary Hospital. Beloved husband for 53 years to Doreen (Dode), loving father to Brenda and her husband Mike PARADIS, doting grandad to Duane and Sarah. Survived by siblings: Thelma Terry, Len, Gerry, Bruce, Alan and Richard. Predeceased by siblings: Earlene PEPPIATT, Bud and Joan HOOVER. Russell will be sadly missed by other family members, including many nieces and nephews. Russ served during the Second World War on the H.M.C.S. Capilano on convoy duty on the North Atlantic. In recent years, he has been an enthusiastic curler with the Venerables at Tam Heather Curling Club. Dear father of Everett STEENBERGEN and wife Audrey of Edmonton, Alberta and their children Keith, Mark, Neil and Kim and Carla; Bert STEENBERGEN and wife Ann of Aylmer and their children Kevin, David and Kimberly; Arnold STEENBERGEN and wife Betty of Edmonton, Alberta and their children Cheryl and Jason, Rick, Lorri and Karen; George STEENBERGEN and wife Marjorie of Aylmer and their children Crystal, Kalvin, Jamie, Dennis and Carl; Ron STEENBERGEN and wife Colleen of Dorchester and their children Heather, Derek and Noah. Also survived by 2 great grandchildren, 3 brothers and 1 sister in the Netherlands, a brother in Kingston, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by 2 grand_sons Jason and Gregg STEENBERGEN. Born in Bennekom, The Netherlands on January 4, 1925, the son of the late Evert and Elberta (BOUW) VAN STEENBERGEN. Martin, a retired farmer, was a member of the Aylmer Christian Reformed Church and had served as an elder, a deacon and a trustee of the Immanuel Christian School. Friends may call at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday November 18, 2005 at 2: 00 p.m. at the Aylmer Christian Reformed Church, Aylmer with Rev Richard deLange officiating. Interment Aylmer Cemetery.
