Passed away in Clearwater, Florida on Thursday, November 10th, 2005 at the age of 64. Cherished husband of Dori. Beloved step-father of Robert and Michael LUCANO, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Tammy HENDERSON, of El Paso, Texas. He is lovingly remembered by his former wife, Bonnie CHOW and her husband Michael, of Kitchener his children, Roberta FARIA and her husband Bruce, of Kitchener, Rebecca KNISLEY, of Owen Sound, Jeffrey KNISLEY and his wife Julie, of Cambridge and Steven KNISLEY, of Waterloo; his grandchildren, Mary Catherine, Tristan, Christopher, Benjamin, Molly, Grace, Daniel, and Paige and his sister, Agnes WALLACE, of Owen Sound. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Ida and Alex KNISLEY; his brother, Robert and his daughter Angela, in infancy. Also by his brother-in-law, Gordon WALACE and his former wife Theresa HOLLAND. George was an avid volunteer with Kitchener Minor Sports, representing the Kitchener Green Shirts as coach for many years, with many championship teams. He was also involved in coaching the Waterloo Siskins Hockey Club and the Kitchener Braves Lacrosse Club. George was a mentor to many fine, young men. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 621 King St. W., Kitchener on Monday, Novemeber 14th, 2005 at 1: 00 p.m. with Reverand Jim LINK, C.R. officiating. GARNISS, William Alan
William Alan passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2005 in Guelph, Ontario at 92 years of age. Alan was the beloved husband of Dorothy (neé KERR) GARNISS for 65 years. He was the dear father of Gail and her husband Don RANSON of Guelph. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Jennifer and her fiance Jeremy LENK of Toronto, Jeffrey of London, by his sister-in-law Hazel GARNISS of Hamilton and by many nieces and nephews. Al was predeceased by his siblings Glen GARNISS, Helen Scott HOLLAND and Margaret BALLANTYNE. Al was raised in Bluevale, Ontario, then made his home in London for 62 years. He worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway where he made many good Friends and later enjoyed three decades of retirement. He will be remembered, respected and admired by family and Friends for his generosity, kindness, courage and gentleness. Peacefully, with his loving family by his side, June 28, 2005, Steve LAUR lost his courageous battle with cancer at the age of 63. Loving husband of 44 years to Betty Anne (THORNTON) LAUR. Devoted father of Michael and Debbie LAUR and Stephanie and Darcy GRANT. Cherished psychotic grandfather of Lindsay, Emily, Alyssa and Cassie. Survived by his mother Grace LAUR, his sister Jennifer and husband Ed, his brothers Ross and wife Linda, Dave and wife Marg, and Dale and wife Diane, and by his mother-in-law Marguerite THORNTON. Predeceased by his sister Donna Jean WARNER, his father Leonard LAUR, and his father-in-law Tom THORNTON.
Steve also had many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, but will be especially missed by nieces Janis THOM and Deb HOLLAND and their families. Steve will be fondly remembered by all the staff and patrons of Bowl-A-Rama including all his Friends in the Hot Shots. Robert was born on April 17, 1916, in Windsor, Ontario, to the late Robert H. DANTER and Elizabeth DANTER. He was predeceased by brothers Gordon and Edward DANTER. Robert was a painter and decorator by trade, and he was also an accomplished fine artist. The role of which he was most proud was that of loving and committed husband, and caring and involved father and grandfather. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation of Canada, or the Canadian Diabetes Association. Visitation will take place on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Saturday at Families First Funeral Home and Tribute Centre (519-969-5841) 3260 Dougall Ave. Windsor, commencing at 11: 00 a.m., with Reverend Bill GALLAGHER officiating, assisted by Reverend Pirie MITCHELL of Colborne United Church of London. Interment will take place at the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Sister Elizabeth Merita (Rita) SULLIVAN, S.O.S. died peacefully at Providence Health Centre, Scarborough, Ontario, on Thursday, October 27, 2005, in the 60th year of her Religious Life. Born in Ennismore, Ontario, May 27, 1913, she was one of the ten children born to Denis SULLIVAN and Gertrude MOLONEY. She was predeceased by her sisters, Florence HEALEY, Loretta SULLIVAN, Helen MacKELLER, Mary HOLLAND, Dorothy▲ BOWIE and by her brothers, Joseph and John. She is survived by her sisters Agnes (Leonard) O'CONNOR and Theresa (Lloyd) ABRAHAM. Entering the Sisters of Service in Toronto in 1945, she served in the Residence and Immigration Ministry in Toronto, Ontario, Halifax, Nova Scotia and Edmonton, Alberta. As a Registered Nurse she served in Health Care in Saint John's Hospital, Edson, Alberta and in Peace River Auxiliary Hospital in Peace River, Alberta. On retiring from the active ministry, she returned to the Motherhouse in Toronto and provided nursing support services to our Sisters at Scarborough Retirement Centre. Sister Rita will be remembered for her guidance and support for the young women in her care, her welcome and practical assistance to Newcomers to Canada, and her compassionate care for the sick and elderly. Wherever she served she found creative ways to assist the sick, the poor, the isolated and the lonely, bringing peace, tranquility and love to all.
