Beloved husband of the late Doris LAWRENCE (1996) and dearly loved father of Betty and her husband Rick HOLBORN of R.R.#3 Shedden, Linda and her husband Jim PRESCOTT of Cambridge, Joseph and his wife Darlene, William and his wife Lisa, Tom and his wife Jill, Patrick and his wife Chris, Donna LAWRENCE and her husband Kim, Roy and his wife Carol and Rob and his wife Bonnie, all of Saint Thomas. Predeceased by 2 sons Keith and Steven. Dear father-in-law of Frances LAWRENCE of Merlin and Bonnie LAWRENCE of Tilbury. Predeceased by 4 brothers Lloyd, Ray, Norm and Jack. Sadly missed by 40 grandchildren, 52 greatgrandchildren and 1 great-greatgrandchild and a number of nieces and nephews. Sam was born in Saint Thomas on March 13, 1923, the son of the late Doug and Elsie LAWRENCE. He was a retired painter and a former associate member of Branch 41 of the Royal Canadian Legion. Loved father of Heather and her husband John TODD of Byron, Rick PAYNE and his partner Sonia BANDELOO of Ilderton and the late David PAYNE, Kevin HOLBORN and his partner Wendy NEVILLE of Saint Thomas, Cory MORNINGSTAR and her partner Paul VEEL, London and Connie HOLBORN of Saint Thomas. Loved grandfather of Stephen, Janelle, Spencer, Sean, Melissa, Ali, Tristin, Jazz, Brandon, Jade, Safire and Connor. Predeceased by 3 brothers Ernie, James and Ronald. Dear brother-in-law of Marlene PAYNE of West Lorne. Sadly missed by several other brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and cousins.
David was born in Rawleigh Township on May 8, 1935, the son of the late George and Mary (SUMMERFIELD) PAYNE. He has lived most of his life in the West Lorne and Saint Thomas area and was retired from Canadian Timken. David enjoyed horses, A.T.V. riding and was a member of the Otter Ridge Riders Club. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas where funeral service will be held Friday at 1: 00 p.m. Cremation to follow in London. He leaves behind his wife of 45 years Elizabeth (Libby BRAY) and children Susan (Martin), David (Julie) and Jane (Christopher). Special Poppa to Matthew, Katie, Suzanne and Mikaela ZAFFINO, Nicole and Creighton ADAM/ADAMS, and Fergus and Georgia CAMPBELL. Step-Poppa to Meredith and Elizabeth HOLBORN and Rosalind and Olivia MURRAY. Survived by dear brothers Jim and Bob ADAM/ADAMS. Investigators probe death of Oshawa teenager

Toxicology tests have been ordered after what police descnbe as the suspicious death of an Oshawa teen.
Kyla HOLBURN, 16, was found face down in a laneway beside a seven storey apartment building in Whitby just after 6: 30 Monday evening.
Police said a resident of the building found the body and informed the superintendent, who called 911.
An autopsy performed yesterday found no signs of trauma to Ms. HOLBURN's body that wouid have caused her death but said that she was improperly dressed for the weather, a police spokesman said.
"It's pretty clear it's a homicide or some very serious accident that probably didn't happen at this location," Durham Regional Police Chief Kevin McALPINE told CFTO News outside Woodfarm Manor on Nichol Avenue, where Ms. HOLBURN's body was found.
Forensic investigators cordoned off a home at 323 Durham Court, less than two kilometres from where the body was found.
Police are treating the death as suspicious, and the residence is a place of interest, said Staff Sergeant Paul MARTIN of Durham Regional Police.
Students at R. S. McLaughlin Collegiate and Vocational Institute in Oshawa, where Ms. HOLBURN was in Grade 11, were told in an announcement that she died suddenly and counsellors were available at the school.
Ms. HOLBURN's Friends soon arrived at the Nichol Avenue apartment building with flowers in hand to pay their respects. They described her as caring and outgoing, and said they were surprised to hear she was in Whitby.
Sergeant Paul McCURBIN of Durham police said that when any young person dies it "is obviously a concern. You haven't even started your life yet."
The major-crimes unit in Durham Region continues to investigate and police ask that anyone with information contact them.

Teen's body discovered on Whitby driveway
Police say it's homicide or 'a very serious accident'

Just how did 16-year-old Kyla HOLBURN of Oshawa end up dead on the driveway of a Whitby apartment building?
That's the mystery facing Durham homicide detectives after the teen's body was found face down at the top of a ramp to a parking lot behind the building, near King St. and Thickson Rd., on Monday night.
The popular Grade 11 student at R.S. McLaughlin Collegiate had suffered traumatic injuries and her shirt had been pulled up above her shoulders, exposing her back.
Police think her body may have been dumped at the building, several kilometres from her home on Nipigon St. in west-end Oshawa.
Chief Kevin McALPINE said her death was the result of "either a homicide or a very serious accident" that happened somewhere else.
"It's highly likely that what happened to her didn't happen in this location," McALPINE said.
An autopsy yesterday failed to determine an anatomical cause of death. More tests have been ordered.
As detectives looked for answers, relatives and Friends gathered at a townhouse complex near the girl's home.
Her mother, who called Kyla "a very loving daughter," later read a statement that said "sometimes children make wrong decisions and sometimes choose the wrong Friends along the way."
She said Kyla had completed a school-issued identification booklet last September, fingerprinting herself and adding a few strands of her long, dark hair, information that helped police identify her.
Family members urged the public to help police find out what happened to Kyla.
The teen was reported missing by her family about 10 p.m. Monday, three hours after her body was spotted beside Wood Farm Manor on Nichol Ave. in Whitby.
A resident who discovered the body about 7 p.m. alerted building superintendent George McLEOD, who covered it with a blanket and called police.
Local resident Tracy McLENNAN was so moved that she placed a bouquet of flowers at the base of a nearby light standard, even though she didn't know the dead teen.
"I have a teenage daughter of my own and when I heard about this on the news it kind of shook me up," she said. "You just never know today what can happen in a community that we all thought was safe."
Distraught Friends of the dead girl also brought a bouquet to the scene in the afternoon.
At R.S. McLaughlin Collegiate, grief counsellors prepared for questions from classmates and other students.
"It's horrible," said Grade 12 student Cheryl DECOSTE, 18. "A lot of people are shaken up by it."

Paul Chute, 69, of Aylmer, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 14, 2005 after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shirley, and his four children, Jeff and wife Margaret of Whitehorse; Denise MUELLER and husband Rick of London; Shaun of London, and Susan BRUNELLE and husband Paul of Aylmer. He also leaves his grandchildren, Julie, Lance and Shaun BRACKENBURY, Sara, Alyssia and Ryan MUELLER and Scott, Trent and Joshua BRUNELLE. Paul is survived by his sister, Dorothy WILSON of Tillsonburg; Betty SCHERER of Tennessee; Barbara CLARKE of Burlington; Mary and Keith DANBROOK of Tillsonburg; Lois and George TAILOR/TAYLOR of Ottawa; Gloria and Paul GIBSON of Hamilton Diana ANDERSON and Bernie HOLDEN of Vienna and Irene BRACKENBURY and Bill VANDENEEKHOUT of Tillsonburg. He is also survived by an aunt, Ruby BRACKENBURY, of Aylmer and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Mabel and Frank BRACKENBURY, and brother Larry.
Paul BRACKENBURY was a long-time educator in Elgin County. He began his career as a teacher at McGregor Public School in 1956, teaching at Straffordville, Port Burwell and Davenport for many years. During this time he also became a vice-principal. After his retirement in 1990 he spent his time playing baseball, poker and guitar, as well as gardening and woodworking. Paul was an active member of the Kinsmen and K-40 Clubs in Alymer. He had a keen interest in local history, and was active in the Bayham Historical Society. He enjoyed contributing articles to the Aylmer Express. He was a great wealth of Knowledge about the Port Burwell, Vienna, Lakeview and Aylmer areas. Most of his stories concerned his beloved Lakeview. His family and Friends are fortunate that Paul compiled detailed family history books for both the BRACKENBURY and Peters families, including many photographs and information that date back to the early 1800's. Dorothy Tamar WILSON, Wednesday, February 2, 2005, Dorothy WILSON of Tillsonburg slipped peacefully into the arms of the Lord and her loving family in Heaven. She was 3 weeks from her 89th birthday. Born and raised in Lakeview, she was the daughter of Frank and Mabel (CHUTE) BRACKENBURY. Dorothy lived a long and fulfilling life. She entered Nurse's Training but was unable to complete due to illness. However, she continued interest in health and medicines and was known for her healing creams which she gave to everyone. She was Post mistress in Thamesford for 20 years. After retiring to Aylmer in 1976 she devoted her time to producing beautiful flowers in her gardens, caring for her mother and traveling with Tom. Like her brother Paul she had a strong interest in her family history. Dorothy was a loyal member of North Broadway Baptist Church, W.M.F. and Plus 50. She was always concerned about the welfare of her Friends and family and was generous to all of them. She loved knitting and gave away baby shawls and many pairs of mittens for children. She will be missed deeply by all her Friends and her surviving family.
She was a wonderful mother to Ken and Ferne RICHARDSON of Merrickville and Marian and Robert SMITH of Tillsonburg and a loving grandmother to Andrew and Karen RICHARDSON, Christine SMITH and Robin VERKUIL. Her surviving sisters are Betty SHERER of Tennessee, Barbara CLARKE of Burlington, Mary DANBROOK and Keith of Tillsonburg, Lois TAILOR/TAYLOR and George of Ottawa, Gloria Gibson and Paul of Hamilton, Diana ANDERSON and Bernie HOLDEN of Vienna, Shirley BRACKENBURY and Irene BRACKENBURY and Bill VANDENEECKHOUT of Tillsonburg and Aunt Ruby BRACKENBURY of Aylmer and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Born in West Nissouri Township, she was the daughter of the late Bristol and Elsie Phyllis MARKHAM) HOLDEN. Winifred was an active member of Saint John's United Church, Stratford, a long time member of the Conservative Party of Perth-Wellington and a member of the Brown's Women's Institute. She delivered meals for Meals on Wheels and Neighbourly Services and took Festival guests in her home for many years. Winifred was an enthusiastic golf, crib and euchre player.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father James F. BRADSHAW of London, on August 27, 2005 at London Health Sciences Centre. Beloved son of the late James F. BRADSHAW and Sylvia Leah Kemkes BRADSHAW of Harris, Saskatchewan where he was born. Surviving are his wife Florence of London, daughter Lois and her husband David HOLDEN of London, sisters Helen (George) MARCHANT of Toronto and Norah (Gustaf) KRISTJANSON of Surrey, B.C. and a number of nieces and nephews. James was predeceased by daughter Amy (1996), brothers Ralph (1996) of British Columbia and Lloyd (2004) of Calgary. James was employed by Lafarge Canada prior to his retirement. It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of Elizabeth in Windsor, Ontario on January 12, 2005. Beloved mother of Carol ENGELS (Dr. Holger ENGELS) of Belle River, and loving Nana to Samantha, Shelby, and Bradley. She is survived by her brother George (Natalie,) her sisters Janet HOLDEN (John,) and Mary LLOYD (Raymond) and many relatives all of England. She will be sadly missed by her many Friends, and dog Cindi. Predeceased by her infant son, brother Walter, and sisters Nan FLATLEY and Edith SCOTT. The family would like to thank all those who have shown such love and caring over the past one and a half years of Betty's painful fight with cancer. Upon retiring from the Toronto-Dominion Bank in Toronto, Betty moved to Bonfield, Ontario to be closer to her grandchildren. She finally succumbed in the company of her devoted daughter Carol in the early morning.
