Grace Elizabeth (HOMUTH) WRIGHT of the Ritz Lutheran Villa, Mitchell and formerly of Wingham passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 2, 2005 in her 98th year. She left this earth as she lived on it - "With Grace and Dignity". Born on June 23, 1907 in Teeswater, Ontario. Beloved wife of the late Ross T. WRIGHT (1956.) Cherished and much loved mother of Jim of Mitchell, Ross (Ruth Ann) of Goderich, Gwen (Gord) of Woodstock and Beverley of Goderich. Beloved grandmother of Jeff WRIGHT of Winnipeg, Scott WRIGHT of Calgary, Greg (Lynne) BROWN of Thunder Bay, Michael BROWN of Woodstock, Holly GUSHE of North Bay and Timothy (Heather) BROWN of Woodstock. Dear great grandmother of Kyle and Benjamin BROWN of Thunder Bay and of Mitchell WRIGHT of Calgary. Dear sister-in-law of Winnifred HOMUTH of Hensall. Also survived by several nieces and nephews and many cherished Friends. Predeceased by her parents Albert and Bertha (McKAGUE) HOMUTH, brothers Clare, Herb, Bob, Mac and Carl HOMUTH. She was a "special mom" to Christina and Jack HOFFMEYER.
Grace was a Registered Nurse, having graduated from the Stratford General Hospital School of Nursing in 1928. She continued her profession for a number of years in Stratford before moving to live with her family in Mitchell for 25 years. She then moved to Goderich where she nursed at the Alexandra Marine Hospital and later retired to Wingham for about 37 years. While in Wingham, Grace was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church where she was a faithful longtime worker with the Women's Missionary Society. She has resided at the Ritz Lutheran Villa, Mitchell for the last five years. There will be no funeral home visitation. A celebration of Grace's life will take place with a public memorial service at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal Street, Mitchell at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to the Mitchell Area Mobility Bus or the charity of one's choice. A special "thank you" to Reverend Thelma KUDELKA, Rev. L.H.S. passed away peacefully with her children, sisters, nephews and grandchildren at her side, on Saturday, July 9th, 2005, at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, in her 86th year, after a valiant and courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband, Edward James SHONIKER, parents Alfred and Caroline WINTERMEYER and her brother the Honourable John J. WINTERMEYER. " Mom" will be forever in the hearts of her children Jim (Barbara), Linda (Ellen), Peter (Renée) and Paul (Julia). "Nana" will be greatly missed by her six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She leaves her loving and devoted sisters Mary (the late Malachi Edward QUIGLEY,) Lucy (the late Thomas Henry QUIGLEY,) Elizabeth (Betty) (the late William Shaughnessy BRENNAN), Therese (Dr. James WILEY) and thirty-one nieces and nephews, their spouses and children. On Wednesday, December 14, 2005 a wonderful life came to an end. Gertrude was the cherished wife of Cecil for 66 years. Mom loved her three children, Jim (Mary), Brenda (Alex) and Wanda (Peter). She was the proud Nanny of Glenn (Liz), Sheila, Rick (Mandy), Donna, David (Nicole) and Sarah (Jim). Mom was blessed to have 9 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Blossom CARR and Dorothy GRANDY and sister-in-law of Olive MOORES and Rae PYNN. Mom's life was blessed by many Friends especially during these past few years. The loving care she received from the doctors and nursing staff at Guelph General Hospital, St. Joseph's Health Care and Community Care Access Centre was truly appreciated by all members of her family.
