Suddenly at Grey Bruce Health Services, Wiarton on Friday, November 4th, 2005. Bill WALKER of Mar, in his 67th year. Loving husband of 44 years to the former Mary Lou McKAY. Cherished father of Terri and her husband Harley HODGINS, of Kincardine; Robert, and Sean and his wife Tracy, both of Owen Sound. Proud grandfather of Jonathan, Sasha, Christina, Katelynn, Megan and David. Brother of Burnie and his wife Audrey, of Chesley; Terry and his wife Fran, of Wiarton; and Marion GURNEY, of Nanaimo, British Columbia. At the Grey Bruce Regional Health Centre, Owen Sound, on Tuesday, November 22nd, 2005 in his 71st year, surrounded by the love of his family. Loving husband of the late Sandra (McBRIDE) CHRISTIAN, Don has now joined her in the presence of Jesus their Lord and Saviour. Loved step-father of George McBRIDE, Dianne McBRIDE, Molly HODGINS and Kelly McBRIDE. Don will also be missed by his four grandchildren. son of the late Donald and Dorothy CHRISTIAN, Don is survived by his sisters Robina KAPOSY and Virginia SEAL. Predeceased by one brother William and an infant sister Harriet. Don has been a very active and well loved member of the Shallow Lake Community Church since its beginning and has been an inspiration to his many Friends both there and at St. Francis Place, Owen Sound, where he and Sandra made their home for many years. Hugh served in both the Canadian Army "The Kent Regiment" and the Royal Canadian Air Force. He farmed in Chatham Twp. all of his life and was known as the Mayor of Oungah, Ontario. Hugh was employed by Chrysler Canada for 28 years as a mechanic and was a proud member of Branch 28 Royal Canadian Legion as well as treasurer of Wing 411 Royal Canadian Air Force. Peacefully at his residence, the Kingsway Lodge Saint Marys on Saturday, June 11, 2005. J. Leonard BRAGG was born in Blanshard Twp. 87 Yrs. ago son of the late Arthur BRAGG and the former Eva BUTTERS. He is survived by his loving wife the former Vera STRATHDEE who he married on November 20, 1943. Sons Donald and Bev BRAGG of Blanshard Ward and Douglas and Lois BRAGG of St. Marys, sons in law Aleck SMITH of Anderson and Rudy MICHIELSEN of Toronto and family friend Donna MORNING of Saint Mary's. Proud grandfather of Gwen and Jamie Nai rn, Diana and Dennis Hodgins, Debra BRAGG and Terry THYNNE, Sharon and Steve GARVEY and Jeff BRAGG. Great grandfather of Shawn, Tyler and Ann Marie NAIRN, Alisha O'HARA, Kelly and Greg HODGINS, Cameron THYNNE. Leonard worked at the Hooper mink ranch and at Maxwells Ltd. of Saint Marys until its closing when he returned to work the family farm until retirement, when his son Don took over. Leonard's love of music has spanned many years, as he played with a number of groups that entertained in the area nursing homes. The Milt Satchell Old Tyme Band, the Habermehl's and Marjorie as well as with many Friends in small traveling groups. Many years ago he was a member of the Friendship Centre and Stonetown Entertainers. He played many instruments, the violin, harmonica, banjo, piano and guitar. He enjoyed playing the fiddle until the Alzheimer's took that away from him. He enjoyed the 20 plus years spent at the Shelburne fiddle competitions and the Blythe steam shows. His love of flowers was seen in his beautiful flower beds and gardens. He loved his strawberries fresh out of his garden. The late Leonard BRAGG will rest at the L.A. Ball Funeral Chapel 7 Water St. N. Saint Marys on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 1. p.m. with Rev. Dr. Robert SPENCER officiating. On Wednesday, September, 14, 2005 at the Concordia Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Mrs. Eleanor Mary Constance HODGINS (nee ELLERY,) aged 91 years, of East Park Lodge, Transcona, Manitoba, beloved mother and grandmother passed away quietly. Born in 1914 at R.R. No. 2, Mount Elgin, Ontario, Mrs. HODGINS lived most of her life in a rural setting near Ingersoll and Thunder Bay, Ontario, until she and her belated husband moved to Transcona in 1986. Mrs. HODGINS is survived by her children, Alice FORD of Edmonton, Alberta, Charles (Ted) and wife Donna of Hope, British Columbia, Ellen (Audrey) HODGINS of London, Ontario, William and wife Brenda of Lacombe, Alberta; also surviving are eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one brother and one son-in-law Ernie DUNNING. She was predeceased by her husband John David in 1995 and by a son John Allan, age six years in 1952. Walt Carter passed away peacefully in Toronto early Tuesday morning, the 4th of January, 2005, having just passed his 96th birthday. Dad enjoyed very good health and mobility up until these very last 2 or 3 months, and he was ready to go, when called. He is survived by his wife Madge▼ (Marjory▼ Edna▼ GARDNER) and his sister Ida DONALD; his older brother Lionel, predeceased Dad. Mom and Dad were married for 68 years and have three married children, Brian▼ (Charlotte,▼) Judy▼ (Jerry HOMENUK,) and Tom (Louise.) There are lots of grandchildren who are going to miss 'gramps': Meghan, Andrew (and Andrea, soon to be his wife,) and Amelia CARTER Kim (Andy BURNHAM,) David,▼ and Jill HOMENUK; and Jeff HODGINS (Lianne), Matthew CARTER (Nicole), and Krista (Todd VANZUILEKOM). He also leaves a great-granddaughter, Avery BURNHAM, whom he loved to visit with. Dad grew up in the Beach area of Toronto and spent a lot of time hiking and horseback riding in 'Taylor's Bush' back when there were only farm fields 'north of the Danforth'. He met Mom at a Saint John's Norway church dance; she was a great tennis player and they were on the Kew Beach courts often. Dad rowed in the 'eights' for the Argonauts, and his crew was of Olympic calibre. Dad was a businessman. He started working at fifteen, and although he never had a chance to attend university he became a successful owner of industrial heating engineering and supply companies. He and Mom loved to travel. Starting in the mid-1950s they spent more than two decades visiting England, Scotland, and Europe, repeatedly. He also loved to 'build'. As well as building the family home in York Mills, and a much loved cottage on Mink Lake near Apsley; at the 'ripe old age of 65' he helped his children build their cottages in Muskoka. Dad had a full life, and while we miss him, his passing was just as he wished it. Our special thanks to the Emergency and Intensive Care staff at Mount Sinai Hospital, and to the specialists who helped Dad. Our thanks as well to the staff of the Bradgate Arms for creating such a pleasant environment for Dad during his last few years. Madge CARTER passed away peacefully in Toronto early Saturday morning, the 6th of August, having just reached her 93rd birthday on Friday. Mom enjoyed good health throughout her life, only losing mobility and memory over these last two years. She is predeceased by her husband Walt (Alexander Walter CARTER) who passed away in January. She is survived by two of her sisters, Patricia (Pat) FOX and Wilhelmina (Billy) FRASER. Mom▼ and Dad were married for 68 years and have three married children, Brian (Charlotte,▲▼) Judy▲▼ (Jerry▼ HOMENUK,) and Tom (Louise.) There are lots of grandchildren who are going to miss 'grandma': Meghan, Amelia, and Andrew (Andrea) CARTER; Kim▼ (Andy▼ BURNHAM,) David, and Jill HOMENUK; and Jeff (Lianne) HODGINS, Krista (Todd) VANZUILEKOM, and Matthew (Nicole) CARTER. She▼ also leaves two great-grandchildren, Avery and Charlie BURNHAM. Mom▼ grew up in the Beach area of Toronto and was the second youngest in a family of nine girls. While the family didn't have 'a league of their own', Mom loved all types of sports, most notably tennis and speed skating. She spent a lot of time on the Kew Beach tennis courts and had the trophies to show for it. Saint John's Norway Anglican Church was an important focus for social activities and it was at a church dance where she met Dad. Mom was always cheerful, and while she worked in the 'early years', most of her years, and her love, were centred on being at home and bringing up her three children. She took up golf and worked in a women's fashion shop in her mature years so that she could always be 'keeping busy', staying in contact with people, and making new Friends; everyone 'took to Mom' right away. Our special thanks to the Salvation Army and the staff of the Isabel and Arthur Meighen Manor who took excellent care of Mom over her last two years. The Salvation Army was always Mom's favourite, and she knitted several hundred pairs of mittens over two decades for its Christmas bazaars. A donation to the Salvation Army in Mom's memory would be most appreciated.

HARRIS, Standish Alan (1901-2005)
On August 14th, 2005 Alan passed away peacefully at his country home in Caledon, in his 105th year. Adoring husband of the late Naomi Francis (PICK) and stepfather to her son the late Robert Sholto DOUGLAS/DOUGLASS. Loving 'Pappy' to Margot CURRY and family and Michael DOUGLAS/DOUGLASS and family. Uncle Alan to Alan HODGINS, Mel HODGINS, Betty McWHINNIE, Jim HARRIS, Aldine BEAUMONT and their families. After leaving his home in Kilmallock, County Limerick and graduating from Trinity College in Dublin Alan made his way to Toronto. He had a brief job with the T. Eaton Co. and then landed the job he wanted, to teach. He became a teacher at Upper Canada College and was there from 1925-1965. Alan was a most admired and respected teacher. He loved the challenge of teaching Mathematics and was at his best when dealing with those who found the subject difficult. He was the head of the Mathematics Department for 30 years. Upper Canada College's property in Norval was a great love of Alan's and he personally supervised and assisted with the planting of thousands of trees there, results of his efforts are remembered as the 'Harris Arboretum'. After his wife's death Alan moved to his property in Caledon with his dog Rheba. He maintained a first-rate vegetable garden and wonderful flowerbeds. He also spent many years reforesting this property. He fed countless birds each winter and took great joy in his last years observing them with his binoculars on the bird feeder outside his living room. Much to the delight of many visitors Alan had the chickadees feeding from their hands. Alan had wonderful loving care over the last few years from Margot and Shane CURRY, Wendy DARROW, Thierry FOURNIER, Nancy WENGLEWICK, Evelyn BUNKER, Nancy SINCLAIR and Diane McKENZIE and her Victorian Order of Nurses team. Also Dr. Stuart BIRNIE and Elizabeth BIRNIE. A private family funeral service was held at the Egan Funeral Home, Bolton on Wednesday, August 17. Interment of cremated remains at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto.

Madge CARTER passed away peacefully in Toronto early Saturday morning, the 6th of August, 2005 having just reached her 93rd birthday on Friday. Mom enjoyed good health throughout her life, only losing mobility and memory over these last two years. She is predeceased by her husband Walt (Alexander Walter CARTER) who passed away in January. She is survived by two of her sisters, Patricia (Pat) FOX and Wilhelmina (Billy) FRASER. Mom▲ and Dad were married for 68 years and have three married children, Brian (Charlotte,▲) Judy▲ (Jerry▲ HOMENUK,) and Tom (Louise.) There are lots of grandchildren who are going to miss 'grandma': Meghan, Amelia, and Andrew (Andrea) CARTER; Kim▲ (Andy▲ BURNHAM,) David, and Jill HOMENUK; and Jeff (Lianne) HODGINS, Krista (Todd) VANZUILEKOM, and Matthew (Nicole) CARTER. She▲ also leaves two great-grandchildren, Avery and Charlie BURNHAM. Mom▲ grew up in the Beach area of Toronto and was the second youngest in a family of nine girls. While the family didn't have 'a league of their own', Mom loved all types of sports, most notably tennis and speed skating. She spent a lot of time on the Kew Beach tennis courts and had the trophies to show for it. Saint John's Norway Anglican Church was an important focus for social activities and it was at a church dance where she met Dad. Mom was always cheerful, and while she worked in the 'early years', most of her years, and her love, were centred on being at home and bringing up her three children. She took up golf and worked in a women's fashion shop in her mature years so that she could always be 'keeping busy', staying in contact with people, and making new Friends; everyone 'took to Mom' right away. Our special thanks to the Salvation Army and the staff of the Isabel and Arthur Meighen Manor who took excellent care of Mom over her last two years. The Salvation Army was always Mom's favourite, and she knitted several hundred pairs of mittens over two decades for its Christmas bazaars. A donation to the Salvation Army in Mom's memory would be most appreciated.
