Predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Sadly missed by 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Mervin was born in Mapleton on June 5, 1926, the son of the late William and Stella HANEY. He was a retired truck driver. Peacefully and surrounded by his family at Bluewater Health - Mitton St. on Monday, October 10th, 2005, Samuel James McCAUGHEY, age 77, of Corunna, passed away. Dear father of Terri HILLIS and her husband Bill of Oshawa, Joanne ENSER and her husband Helmut of Toronto, Colin McCAUGHEY of Etobicoke and Alison RAHM and her husband Scott of LaSalle, loving grandfather of Nicole, Haakim, Nolan and Brady. Six sisters, three brothers and many nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by a brother Robert, a twin sister Jane and a sister Elizabeth. Born in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, Sam has been in Canada for more than 50 years and was a proud member of Moore Masonic Lodge No.294. He retired as a Pipefitter with Shell Oil Ltd. Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of the D.J. Robb Funeral Home, Sarnia on Thursday, October 13th at 1: 00 p.m. Cremation will follow. Frank was born in Willenhall, Staffordshire, England, the only child of the late Percival and Lucy (STONE) SHERWOOD. He set sail for Canada with his wife and daughter on April 18, 1952. Beloved father of Grace WRIGHT (Morley) and Jamie BUNKA (Larry) and son to the late Elsie and Jim SUMMERS and Bill and Dell HILLMAN. An amazing grandpa and poppa to Kelly, Kristie MAY, Aaron, Taylor, Connor, Cameron, Liam, and great-grandpa to Katie and Taylor MAY. Brother to Ron HILLMAN (Ruth) of Saint Thomas and Maxine "Toni" VANHORNE (Chuck) of Hamilton. Brother-in-law to Amy CROCCO (Henry) of Sudbury, Vivian WAUGH (late Ken) of Guelph, and the late Rita WALKER (Doug) of Elliot Lake. Nephew of Lynne JOHNSTON of Toronto and Nora FORESTER of British Columbia. Special cousin to Wayne and Jerry JOHNSTON. As well, an uncle and cousin who will be fondly remembered by many. Bill worked for the Etobicoke Board of Education for 15 years and enjoyed an active retirement in Elliot Lake where he was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, E.L.A.T.E., Stage Door Players, and the Elliot Lake Computer Club. The warmth, humour, talents, and love Bill shared, will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Blanche (VERSTRAETEN) MATTHYNSSENS (Delhi) passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Sunday, February 13, 2005, in her 94th year. Blanche was born in San Antonio, Texas on December 17th, 1911. She was a member of the Saint Mary's Church, the C.W.L., Tillsonburg, and Sacred Heart Church, Langton and also a member of the Delhi Belgian Club. Together with her husband Albert, she farmed tobacco for several years at R.R.#1 Delhi.
Loving mother and mother-in-law of: Diana and Noël GHESQUIERE, Tillsonburg; Anita and Dr. David HILLNER, Tillsonburg and Ginny VERSTRAETEN, South River. Blanche was proud to be called "Meme" by her grandchildren Dan and Liz VERSTRAETEN, Marc VERSTRAETEN and Liz, Linda and Gary MATTAN, Wendy and David HOLMES, Michael and Deana GHESQUIERE, Marc and Jennifer HILLNER, Bonnie and Billy GAGNON and Tammy GODDEN and Roger.
