Joan Charlotte Mary HARRISON, née CULLEN on Wednesday, February 2, 2005 in London, Ontario. Beloved wife of the late Hamish HARRISON. She will be profoundly missed by her daughter Susan, son-in-law Bruce CARTER, adored Grandson HARRISON, sister-in-law Catherine SMITH, niece Anne SMITH (Brian PEL,) nephews Ian SMITH (Jackie HERNER) and Duncan SMITH (Erin CAMPBELL,) grandnephews and grandniece, cousins Sandra DEROME, Michael BURK/BURKE, Jean MacKINNON, their families and all her family and wonderful Friends. Predeceased by her sister Andrea MILLS and her brother-in-law Ken SMITH. Joan was born and raised in Westmount, Quebec, spent over 30 years raising her family in Cambridge, Ontario and recently moved to London to be closer to them. She was an avid skier, skater, sailor, cook and bridge player. She cherished many happy years with her family and Friends. She was a devoted mother who gave so much to those that knew and loved her. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter's Basilica, 533 Clarence Street at Dufferin, on Monday, February 7 at 10: 00 a.m. Memorial contributions to the charity of choice would be gratefully acknowledged. It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Fred on Friday, November 11th, 2005 in his 70th year. Fred is survived by his loving wife Carole. He will be sadly missed by his son Paul (Scott), as well by his brother Jim (Dolores) and his sister Linda HERON (Bill.) His memory will live on in his the hearts of his nieces: Jennine, Margaret and Catherine. Also survived by his aunt Shirley HOPKINS. Predeceased by his parents Alfred OAKLEY and the former Leah WASTLAKE and son Graham. Fred reached many people through his art; his paintings will live on forever. The Golf Group will miss his love of the game and the good times spent together. He will also be missed by his barn buddies: Dancer and Parker. Dear father of Philip (Roanne PRESTON) of Vancouver, British Columbia and Sarah HERRING (Wesley) of Ottawa. Loving grandfather of Katharine and Evan HERRING. Fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Jean FLEMING/FLEMMING of Ivanhoe, her daughters Joanne FERGUSON of Trenton, Ontario and Janice DECLAIR of Belleville, Ontario, brother-in-law Gary SCHRIEDER of Picton, Ontario, sister-in-law Amy SCHRIEDER (Paul CHAPELLE) of Belleville and their children Sam and Lucy CHAPELLE. Predeceased by his parents, Thomas Emo and Edna (née BELFORD) FLEMING/FLEMMING, his brother John and sister, Shirley LLOYD. George was born in Ivanhoe, Ontario, January 6, 1926, and received his earlier education in a one-room schoolhouse (S.S.#12 Huntingdon). He went on to attend Madoc Secondary School, where his education was interrupted by the war. He joined the navy in May, 1943 and served until the cessation of the war in 1945. After discharge, he continued his high school education at, and graduated from, the Veterans' Rehabilitation School in Brockville, Ontario. After working as a surveyor in Belleville for two years, he joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Ottawa, serving in Prince George, British Columbia, Dawson, Yukon Territory and along the Alaska Highway. Having joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for Special Branch duties, he was then posted to Headquarters in Ottawa and from there went on to posts in the United Kingdom and several European cities, lastly in Vienna, Austria. In 1958, he returned to Toronto, Ontario to take up counter-espionage duties where he remained until 1966. After promotion to the rank of Inspector, he headed up the Foreign Services Directorate, later being promoted as Director, Foreign Services Directorate, supporting the rank of Superintendent. At the time of his retirement in 1984, this position was considered that of Chief Superintendent. Predeceased by wife Margaret SMITHRIM (SUMNER) (1994.) Dear father to Gary (Elaine) of Belleville and Gayle (Bill) HERRINGTON of Gravenhurst. Will be remembered by grandchildren Karen (Joe) PASZTERNAK, Bryan (Bonnie) SMITHRIM, Mary Lou SMITHRIM, Darryl (Christine) SMITHRIM, Debbie (Doug) RAGAN, and Diana HERRINGTON; great-grandchildren Tiffany and Amy PASZTERNAK, Oliver and Georgia SMITHRIM, and Ashly KENNY. Survived by sister Viola PAISLEY. Predeceased by sisters Marguerite McINTYRE, Olive BURDON, and Evelyn GORTZEN. Brother-in-law of Evelyn and Evan STEAD, Frances SUMNER, Marion DAVIS, and John SUMNER; many nieces and nephews. Mac was a long-time and dedicated member of the Odd Fellows and past District Deputy Grand Master, past president of the Middlesex Federation of Agriculture and past member of the Hospital Board and the Cemetery Board. Proud volunteer of the Victorian Order of Nurses. Visitation was held at Denning Bros. Funeral Home in Strathroy, on Friday, June 10 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. An Odd Fellows memorial service was held at 6: 45 p.m. on Friday, June 10. Funeral service took place in the chapel on Saturday, June 11 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Jock TOLMAY officiating. Interment followed at Strathroy Cemetery. Donations to Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital would be appreciated by the family. A tree will be planted as a living memorial to Mac.
