HENDRA, Frederick Stanley " Stan," B.A., M.A., M.Ed.
Born April 8, 1925 in Toronto, died May 16, 2005 at Chester Village, after a long fight against Alzheimer's disease. Predeceased by his daughter Patricia, he is missed by his wife Norah (McGUFFIN,) brother Gordon of Kingston, three sons Jim/Seamus, Gordon (Rosemary) and Patrick; grandchildren Cuilean (Susan), Laoghan, Sionnach, Speireag; Graham, Geoffrey and Andrew; and great-grand_son Luca.
From 1950-56, Stan was a high school history teacher in Saint Mary's, Ontario, 56-58 at Royal York Collegiate in Etobicoke, 59-64 at North Toronto Collegiate Institute, transitioning to Guidance. In 1965 he obtained his Masters in Education at Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. From 1966-68 he was head of Guidance at East End High School, then transferred to Northern Secondary School until 1973, when he became the School Placement Officer for the Toronto Board of Education at 155 College Street, finally retiring in 1983.
Stan was always active throughout his life, enjoying many seasonal sports, including golf, tennis, swimming, and skating. Stan had a passion for camping and canoeing, and as a teenager would spend summers with his Friends exploring the lakes and rivers of Algonquin Park. In 1958, Stan and Norah bought property in Haliburton county, and have enjoyed summers there ever since.
A Memorial service will be held at 3: 00 pm on Thurs May 26, at the Church of St Timothy, 100 Old Orchard Gr., Toronto. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. Stan was an incredibly warm, good-humoured person, who had an amazing capacity to make those in his presence feel special. He will be greatly missed by his family, and by all who knew him well.

Grandfather of Daniel, Jennifer, Charlotte, Elizabeth HENDRIKS and Heather, Bruce, Susan and Michael STEUBING of California. Great grandchildren include Jacob, Kayla, Madeleine, Sophia, Gabriel and Claire. Carrying on in the family tradition are Ruth ROSE and Doris CHOMKO.
Bruce lived life at maximum speed and capacity as an athlete, fisherman, and family crib champion, gardener, artist and world traveller. Poppa leaves a legacy of Muskoka summers, bad jokes and extensively exaggerated fish stories.
Bruce worked for many years in the Department of Highways where he surveyed the route for the TransCanada Highway through Northern Ontario. In 1973, he retired as the Superintendent of Surveys for Ontario and proceeded to enjoy 30 years of retirement.
Funeral services will be held at St. Matthias Anglican Church, Coldwater, Ontario, on August 6th, 2005 at 10: 30 a.m. Reception to follow at the Cottage. In Bruce's memory you are encouraged to donate to the charity of your choice.

They established the Timmins Upholstering and Cabinet Shop in the early years of their marriage and saw their business flourish in later years in southern and central Ontario. The family extends deep appreciation to Dr. Wayne BATES and the nurses and staff at Trillium Manor for their kind and dedicated care.
