Of Walkerton, passed away at South Bruce Grey health Centre, Walkerton, on Tuesday, March 22nd, 2005, surrounded by the love of his family, after a courageous battle with cancer, in his 67th year. Norm was a partner/owner of Doerr Bros. Construction for thirty years (1973-2003). It is with profound sadness that his family announces the passing of Samuel Leonard STEWARD/STEWART/STUART at London Health Sciences Centre on Sunday December 26, 2004 in his 81st year. Beloved husband of M. Audrey (HELLIER) STEWARD/STEWART/STUART, proud father of Todd Lindsay STEWARD/STEWART/STUART and loving poppa of grand_son Samuel Lindsay STEWARD/STEWART/STUART. Dear brother-in-law of Ida L. HENRY. Loved and sadly missed by Pamela, Nicole, Jessica and Erin MERRICK of London as well as Del and Viane KNIGHT of Corunna. Predeceased by his father Wilbert Leonard STEWARD/STEWART/STUART (1939) and mother Helen Loretta (GRUBER) STEWARD/STEWART/STUART (1958.)
Sam was a graduate of Chesley Ave. Public School, Beck Secondary School, the University of Western Ontario and the Ontario Teachers College. His career in teaching began in 1951 at Wallaceburg District Secondary School, onto Medway High School in 1954 and finally as the first teacher hired to work at, the then new, Oakridge Secondary School in 1959. At the time of his retirement in 1985, Sam was the head of the Commercial Department at Oakridge. Sam was an avid, longtime golfing member of Highland Country Club having joined with his brother-in-law Donald M. HENRY (1997) in 1957. Sam enjoyed a full life. From his beginnings as the son of W.L. "Bill" STEWARD/STEWART/STUART owner of the former Rex and Patricia Theatres and the Fairmont Golf Course. Sam was schooled to be independent and resourceful. A multi-lingual, academic he travelled the world pursuing his passion of history. A devoted, energetic and charismatic teacher and mentor, he left a lasting impression on those he taught and taught with. A remarkable man, who impacted the lives of many, will be sadly missed.
In accordance with his wish a private funeral service was held at A. Millard Geoge Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London on Thursday December 30, 2004. Archdeacon James R. BROADFOOT officiated with interment in the family plot at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London. A reception was held immediately after at Highland Country Club. A tree will be planted on the grounds of Highland Golf Course in memory of Sam STEWARD/STEWART/STUART.

Peacefully surrounded by his loving children, on October 16, 2005 at the age of 81, Jim passed away at the St. Catharines General Hospital following a very brief illness. Jim was predeceased by his mother Lillian BURK/BURKE (1975,) father John MOFFATT (1929) and brother Jack (2004). Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Joan FLANNERY, his sister Betty DANIEL of Thornhill and brother Kenneth of Louisiana. He is survived by his much loved children, Maureen (Wayne SQUIBB,) Marilyn▼ (Robert▼ KRAM,) Gary (Lorri METCALFE) and Greg (Dr. Vivian LIU;) and his adored grandchildren, Cristin (Adam LAZIER,) Jessica,▼ Elizabeth,▼ Geoffrey,▼ Jonathan, James, Jaclyn, Allison, Bryan, Jordan and Clare. Born in Toronto, graduating from commerce at Malvern, Jim joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942. Following his discharge, he moved to St. Catharines where he co-founded and presided as president of Niagara Welder's Supply until selling his interest to Union Carbide in 1991. During his career he served several terms as Chairman of the Canadian Welding Society and The Ontario Welder's Supply Association. Jim and his wife Joan were active golf and curling members of The St. Catharines Golf and Curling Club for over 55 years. He served several years on the Board of Directors, becoming an Honorary Member in 1999. At his Tribute it was stated: 'Jim is a mild-mannered man of integrity and gentlemanly qualities. Many of our older members have known him for decades and what we have written will not be news to them. However, we would bet that every one of them considers themselves to be one of his Friends and you can be sure that they carry that distinction with pride. That is the essence of Jim MOFFATT'. Jim▼ was also an active member of the Niagara Falls Club, Rotary Club and Rodman Hall. of Ganges, Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, died on Tuesday, October 11, 2005, after a short illness.
Born in Toronto, Ontario, on June 6, 1933, Ruth is survived by her loving children, Julia Marie GRUNAU (Gregory SMITH) - Toronto, and Paul Anthony GRUNAU -- Los Angeles, and will always be remembered with love by her grandchildren, Siena Elizabeth SMITH and Mason Gregory Luca SMITH; her brother, Irving Allan (Ian) NATTRESS Esquimault, British Columbia and her sister, Betty Josephine (Beej) NELSON -- Delta, British Columbia. Ruth was predeceased by her parents, David Irving NATTRESS and Mildred Ruth Bradley NATTRESS. She will be sadly missed by her family, and her many Friends on Salt Spring Island and in Ontario.
Ruth received her early education in Toronto and Thunder Bay, graduating from the Port Arthur Collegiate Institute in 1951. Following a year at the Lakehead Technical Institute (Lakehead University) Ruth continued her studies at the Hospital for Sick Children, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1955.
Ruth was an artisan of note, especially as a weaver, and from 1975 to 1988 she belonged to Kingcrafts, a charitable, nonprofit organization founded in 1950 by Lady Flavelle. After moving to Salt Spring Island, British Columbia in 1988, Ruth continued her interest in weaving, quilting and many forms of needlework.
The family thanks the many nurses and physicians who cared so compassionately for Ruth, both at the Lady Minto Hospital and the Victoria General Hospital.
A Celebration of Ruth's life will be held in Ganges, Salt Spring Island on December 21, 2005, from 2: 00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at All Saints by the Sea Anglican Church Hall. Shot man died shielding brothers

A 22-year-old man shot dead in an Etobicoke apartment Saturday afternoon was killed defending his two young brothers, his grief-stricken mother said yesterday.
Toronto police say Orlando GRUNDY was killed after "a number of persons" entered his 13th-floor apartment at 2777 Kipling Ave. and began shooting at about 5 p.m. Saturday.
Residents in neighbouring apartments talked of hearing shotgun blasts coming from apartment 1308 where GRUNDY, of Jane Street, had gathered with his brothers and several other people.
GRUNDY's mother Sydney is in no doubt about her son's bravery.
"He dove in front of his brothers," she said yesterday as the family gathered to discuss what little they knew about Saturday's events. "He took the bullet for the other two."
The two younger boys, both injured in the gunfire, "were holding their brother in their arms" when police arrived on the chaotic scene, she said.
"His brother was laying in their arms, and they handcuffed them."
Two other men were injured in the attack, which GRUNDY's family said occurred when "people came in and started shooting at everything." They were taken to Sunnybrook hospital, where one victim remains in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his face, while the other is out of intensive care and expected to make a full recovery.
GRUNDY's mother said she was beginning to hear details from her two younger boys, who were later released from custody and gathered with family members yesterday.
"We all loved him," she said softly as she reflected on her dead son, whom she called a "soldier of love.
"He's my oldest son."
The gunmen fled the building and, despite a massive search by police and members of the Emergency Task Force, managed to elude capture.
Toronto police yesterday appealed for the public's assistance in tracking down the shooters responsible for Toronto's seventh homicide this year, but investigators have so far not released a description of the wanted men.
The GRUNDY family's grief capped a violent weekend in Toronto, one that also saw Szilvia VERES, 35, of Toronto killed in a Friday night shooting and 50-year-old Donald Andrew LATREMOUILLE die of unknown causes during an argument with roommate Christopher Gordon PHILLIPS at their Davenport Rd. residence Friday. PHILLIPS, 27, has been charged with manslaughter.
Saturday's violence included an early-morning shooting at the Flamingo Bar on College St. that left a man and a woman slightly injured.
A suspect in the Flamingo bar shooting turned himself in late Saturday.
Edwin VALASQUEZ, 20, turned himself in to 14 Division police around 9 p.m. Saturday; he faces numerous charges including attempted murder while using a firearm and two counts of aggravated assault. Faruth PORTOBANCO, 25, of Toronto was arrested earlier in the Flamingo incident.
Two off-duty paramedics, in the club when gunfire broke out at 2: 30 a.m. Saturday are being recommended for civilian citations after they tackled the gunman and disarmed him.
Gunfire continued to echo on Toronto streets just after noon yesterday, sending shoppers ducking for cover in the parking lot outside several stores in the Albion Rd. and Islington Ave. area of Rexdale.
Police said a man was sitting in his car in a plaza parking lot at 950 Albion Rd. when three suspects approached and "almost immediately opened fire with three guns."
Although a number of bullets hit his car, shattering the windows, the intended victim was able to flee without injury, Detective Debbie HARRIS said in a statement.
Police converged on the area and, with the assistance of heavily armed Emergency Task Force officers, arrested three suspects and recovered two handguns and a quantity of drugs.
Ali Nassir SHOWBEG, 23, faces charges including attempted murder and possession of cocaine for trafficking.
The other two suspects, Sean Conrad GRANT, 21, and Vanessa Charlene BAILEY, 19, are charged with possession of a restricted firearm and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
And police are continuing their search for the suspect in Friday's fatal shooting of VERES, who died instantly after a man opened fire as she and her husband, 46-year-old Kemenczy MIKLOS of Toronto, were in a parking lot at 15 Brookbanks Dr., in the York Mills Rd. and Don Valley Parkway area.
A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for John KOVACS, 52, of Etobicoke, who was last seen fleeing in a 1999 silver Honda with Ontario plates 149 WRX. KOVACS faces charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder.

Beloved husband for 63 years of Margaret "Paddy". Loving father of Elizabeth, Harrison John, Janet (Robert RYAN,) and Ruth (Phil HARVEY.) Dear grandfather of Benjamin, Brenna and Christopher. Survived by his sister Lorna GRUNDY, and also his nieces and nephew. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Passed away peacefully at Soldier's Memorial Hospital, Orillia, on Monday, October 17, 2005. Wife of the late William "Pete" GRUNDY and much loved mother of Lois (David) KUENEMAN, Nancy (Rob) McCRON, and Margaret GRUNDY. Beloved grandmother of Paul KUENEMAN (Kate), Jennifer HOPP (Steve), and Scott McCRON and great-grandmother of Sydney HOPP and David KUENEMAN. Very special aunt of Ina (Rob,) Harley and Lucas JACKSON. Ethel will also be greatly missed by her extended family Joni, David and Glen WATTS, Barb SCAIFE, and Bob and Audrey STEVENSON. Resting at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, 8911 Woodbine Ave., Markham (3 lights north of Hwy. 7), 905-305-8508. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 21 from 10-11 a.m. with a Memorial Service to follow. Interment will take place at Resthaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Kingston Rd. After suffering a sudden stroke, Ron was given a magnificent send off, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, October 22nd, 2005 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, at 68 years of age. Beloved husband of Glo (née O'REILLY- MacDONALD.) Loving father of Rick, Michael (Richard,) Karen (Marc) LAROUCHE, Heather (George) HAMBROCK, Dawn (Steve) GRUNDY, David (Linda) MacDONALD and Johnny (Angela) MacDONALD. Cherished Poppy of Jennifer HUTCHEON, Sarah and Daniel SWICK, Noelle (Adam) KLASSEN, Devin MILLEN, Dayna and Emma HAMBROCK, Ashley, Tim and Montana SNELL, Stephanie, Chris and Mark GRUNDY, Nadine and Heather MacDONALD, Jim ATKINS, Cameron, Megan and Kali MacDONALD and great grand poppy to Ryder KLASSEN. He was well respected during his years with CTV and Global prior to becoming an owner operator of Palette Productions in Toronto. Since his retirement he was an active member of St. Catharines Curling Club, Rolling Meadows Golf Club and The Grantham Optimist Club. Ron is resting at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines where a service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday at 11: 30 a.m. Cremation to follow. GRUNDY, Lillian Audrey " Sylvia" (née CLOSE)
Peacefully at home surrounded by her family, Sylvia, in her 71st year, passed away on December 17th, 2005. Predeceased by her parents Alice and Fred CLOSE. Devoted wife of the late Thomas GRUNDY. Her spirit will always be alive in the hearts of her children, daughters Janice and husband Peter, Denise, Lori, Billie-Joy (Doug), Donna and husband Joseph, and her only son Thomas and wife Michelle. Predeceased by her loving brother Roy CLOSE and wife June. Lovingly and fondly remembered by her only sister Joyce MARCOTTE. Most proud and loving Nanny to her sixteen grandchildren who always brought her great joy and strength and great-grandmother to six wonderful great-grandchildren. Sylvia will be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews, and large circle of Friends. Please join us in a celebration of Sylvia's life on Thursday, December 22nd from 7-9 p.m. at the Warden Woods Mennonite Church at 74 Firvalley Court.
