and studied art in Toronto. In London, Bermuda, Nassau, Ft. Lauderdale
and Maryland, he worked as a longshoreman, ship's cook, airline
agent, sailor, photographer, graphics designer and crab fisherman
- a wealth of experiences to feed his active and creative mind.
A memorial service will be held in Centreville on June 25th.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Emelia
Regina McMANUS (née
BUCHNER) on Monday, August 22, 2005 at Mississauga's
Trillium Hospital. Emelia was born on October 1, 1923 in Macklin,
Saskatchewan. She was the 5th of 15 children of John and Evelyn
BUCHNER.
Emelia grew up in Macklin and following her marriage
to Don McMANUS lived in Balcarres, Saskatchewan. Later, Emelia
and Don moved to Winnipeg where they lived until their retirement
to Kelowna, British Columbia in 1989. Emelia leaves her children
Dorothy Anne (Kerry), Bill and John (Tracy) to mourn her passing.
She also leaves three grandchildren - Jenna, Lane and Adam. Emelia
is also survived by her siblings, Dorothy

Josée), Laura, Brandon and Shawn will cherish with great fondness
their special times with Opa when he would share his great wisdom,
insight and worldly experience. He will also be remembered by
family in Germany.
Always an animal lover, Klaus will not soon be forgotten by his
treasured Giant Schnauzer Toby whose daily walks with Klaus along
the river in Frankford were a source of much joy for each of
them. His long career in agriculture management in Ontario and
British Columbia earned Klaus the respect of his many business
associates and Friends. He spent his retirement years in the
Trenton area enjoying the nearby water that he so loved. The

and dedicated care while Klaus was ill. Cremation has taken place.
As per Klaus' wishes a small memorial service will be held in
the chapel of Weaver Family Funeral Home, 170 Dundas Street W.,
Trenton, Ontario on Saturday, June 4 at 11: 00 a.m. The family
will receive visitors 1/2 hour prior to the service. Those wishing
to make a donation in memory of Klaus are asked to consider the

Springfield-Aylmer area and resided in Saint Thomas and Fingal
since 1949. Harold was the retired owner of Ellis Farm Equipment
and was a 50 year member of First United Church, life member
of the Fingal Optimist Club and also belonged to the Malahide
Masonic Lodge #140, Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons Resting
at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas until Monday
morning and then to First United Church, St. George Street, St.
Thomas for funeral service at 11: 00 a.m. Cremation to follow
with private interment of ashes in Fingal Cemetery. Visitation
Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Parkinson's
Foundation, First United Church or charity of choice.

Student collapses, dies at badminton tryout

A 17-year-old student died after trying out for the badminton
team with about 35 others at her all-girls private school yesterday
morning.
Jennifer LOU, a boarding student from Taiwan at Bishop Strachan
School, collapsed and fell unconscious about 8 a.m. Staff began
performing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation immediately. She was
taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where she was pronounced dead at
9: 30 a.m.
"Obviously, the school is in shock," spokeswoman Sharon
GREGG
said, adding that grief counsellors were called in to talk to
the students.
Ms. LOU had been boarding at the Avenue Road and Spadina Avenue
school for the past two years. Her parents were contacted yesterday
in Taiwan.
