At London Health Science Centre - Westminster, on Tuesday, August 23rd, 2005. Bernard Charles "Bernie" CUMMINGS, of Aylmer, and formerly of Mount Forest and Oakville, after a long battle with cancer, in his 75th year. Beloved husband of Marjorie (BROWNSWORD) CUMMINGS. Dear father of Barb CUMMINGS and her fiance, Jim GOOLEY, of Stoney Creek, Bev CUMMINGS of Dromore, Ontario, Brenda CUMMINGS, of Toronto, Dennis CUMMINGS and his wife, Rose, of Halifax, Karen CUMMINGS and her friend, Pete WIEBE, of Vienna. Loved by his grandchildren, Jayme MORRIS, Kristie, Rob, and Matt STEWARD/STEWART/STUART, Melanie and Robin CUMMINGS. Great-grandfather of Brayden MORRIS. Brother of Fergus CUMMINGS and his wife, Doreen, of Toronto, and Theresa PETERS, of Arizona. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a number of brothers and sisters. Born in Dublin, Ontario on September 11th, 1930, the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth (McKEEFERTY) CUMMINGS. Bernie worked as a truck driver, a farmer, a realtor and finally, an apartment building owner. A passionate and outspoken man, Bernie was known for his sense of humour and quick wit. Friends may call at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer, on Thursday, 2: 00 to 4:00 and 7: 00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be held on Friday, August 26th, 2005 at 11: 00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows R.C. Church, Aylmer. Dear friend, loyal khaver, Motel survived the Holocaust and built a new, rich, culturally vibrant, and committed life in Canada with his much-loved Sara. Motel was larger than life. He had enthusiasm, passion, love, and song in his soul. He enriched the lives of all he knew and left his magic in our hearts. He was a secular Jew, secure and confident in his origins, and in who he was. It permitted him to be open, accepting, questioning and embracing of everything that life had to offer. Two die in Hwy. 26 crash

A funeral mass was held Tuesday morning at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Stayner for John GOORTS, 46, who died in a fiery accident on Hwy. 26 Friday.
Also dead was Stephen WILKINSON, 48, of Barrie.
The mishap took place just before 5: 30 p.m., when the road was busy with weekend traffic.
Huronia West Ontario Provincial Police said that an Oldsmobile Alero, driven by WILKINSON, was eastbound when it struck a westbound Oldsmobile Intrigue.
According to police, after hitting the Intrigue the Alero continued eastbound and collided with a westbound Volkswagen Jetta, driven by GOORTS.
The two men were transported by ambulance to Collingwood General & Marine Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Donations to a trust fund for GOORTS' daughters, Leah, 14 and twins Jenna and Kara, 12 are being accepted at the Stayner branch of Toronto-Dominion Canada Trust.

The families of the late John GOORTS would like to extend their thanks for the overwhelming love, support and condolences offered at the time of his passing.
Many thanks to all who stopped by with expressions of sympathy, dropped off food, offered masses sent flowers, cards with words of comfort, or made donations to the trust fund.
Special thanks to the emergency services and all those who helped at the scene. Thank you to Dr. SINGH and staff at the General and Marine hospital, Father Darrin CORKUM, Deacon Dave WHALL, St. Patrick's Choir, C.W.L., Niki and Theo SCHAAP, and all the Kinsmen. Many thanks to Darrin and the Watts Funeral Home for their excellent assistance.
Knowing there was so much support from the entire community with their many gestures of kindness gave us all the strength to get through this difficult time.

On July 4, 2005 passed away peacefully at Hill House Hospice in Richmond Hill at the age of 67. Mom will be greatly missed by daughter Sharon DYKSTRA, son Aaron DYKSTRA (both of North York,) sister Paula GOOSSEN of Amstelveen, Holland and sister-in-law Petra GOOSSEN- DIAZ of The Philippines. There will be a private cremation. A memorial service will be held at Elgin Mills Cemetery (Elgin Mills Road and Leslie Street, 905-737-1720) on Tuesday, July 12th. Visitation at 12: 30 p.m. with a service following at 1: 30 p.m. The family would like to thank Dr. Brian BERGER and the staff of York Central Hospital, along with the many nurses and volunteers of Hill House Hospice for their care and support. Suddenly, at her home in Fergus, on Saturday, October 15, 2005, Betty Marie ELGIE (née HUMPHREY,) in her 78th year. Beloved wife of 54 years to Stuart ELGIE. Dear mother of Marie (Ivan McBURNEY,) Gwen (Adrian GOOYERS,) Jeanne (William WATSON) and Stuart (Jennifer MALLARD.) Loving grandmother to Sean and Shannon McBURNEY, Laura and Christina GOOYERS, Chloe and Thomas ELGIE and Nakita, Lucy and Molly. Betty was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mabel HUMPHREY. Survived by her sisters Stella HUMPHREY and Shirley (Norman) HUNT and brothers Gordon (Donna) HUMPHREY and Bill HUMPHREY, as well as in-laws Catherine HUMPHREY and Jean and David (Wilma) ELGIE. Predeceased by brothers John, Ernest and Elliott (Betty Jane) HUMPHREY, and in-laws George and Drew (Joyce) ELGIE and Gladys HUMPHREY. She will be missed by many HUMPHREY and ELGIE nieces and nephews, and countless Friends and neighbours on McAlister Street in Fergus and in Arran and Nichol Townships. Betty was a graduate of the class of 1949 Nursing Program at St. Joseph's Hospital, Guelph, and enjoyed a long career nursing at Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus, the Homewood Health Centre in Guelph, with the Victorian Order of Nurses and as a private duty nurse. Friends will be received at the Thomson and Collins Funeral Home, 160 St. David Street North, Fergus, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service in the Chapel on Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at 11: 30 a.m., with Reverend David WHITECROSS officiating. Following a service of committal at Belsyde Cemetery, a reception will be held at the Fergus Legion. For those who wish, memorial donations to Groves Hospital Building Fund or Sleep/Wake Disorders Canada would be appreciated by the family.
