Elgin Street, Saint Thomas until Monday morning and then to Holy
Angels' Church for Mass of the Christian Burial at 10: 00 a.m.
Interment to follow in Holy Angels' Cemetery. Visitation Sunday

Bill served overseas as
a navigator in the Royal Canadian Air Force, 1942-1944, (No.
6 Bomber Group). After many years with Ontario Hydro, he took
up a teaching career at secondary schools and as an Associate
Professor at the Faculty of Education, U of T. Predeceased by
his brother Orville, he is survived by sons John, Ian and Alec

78, passed away on September 1, 2005 while visiting with her
family in British Columbia. She was born in St Louis, Missouri,
but spent her formative years in Calgary, Alberta, where she
graduated from St. Hildas' School for Girls in 1944. She received
her Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia,
where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. In 1949 she married
her high school sweetheart Peter S.
HOWSAM in Vancouver, a marriage
that lasted 52 years, until Mr.
HOWSAM passed away in 2001. The
HOWSAMs lived in Montreal, Philadelphia, and Toronto, before
moving to Raleigh in 1970. Shirley and Peter became American
Citizens in 1977. Shirley was a gracious hostess. They opened
their home for many Burroughs Wellcome Co. events and will be
remembered for their annual 'Boxing Day' parties. Shirley was
active within her community. She was a Past President of the
Raleigh Fine Arts Society, a docent at the Executive Mansion
for over 33 years, a long time volunteer and supporter of the
North Carolina Museum of Art - where she served on numerous committees.
She also acted as Chairman of the Volunteer Board and served
as Secretary on the Board of the North Carolina Art Society for
over four years. She gave 12 years of dedicated service to the
Duke Childrens' Golf Classic as Co-Chairman of the Spouses and
Guests Committee and received the Duke Childrens' 'Volunteer
of the Year Award' in 1991. Shirley continuously gave her gifts
of time, talent and treasure to St. Michael's Episcopal Church,
where she served in many areas. She was Past President of the
Episcopal Churchwomen, a Stephen Minister and Leader. She served
3 years on the Diocesan Episcopal Churchwomen Executive Board
as the United Thank Offering Coordinator. She was a member of
the Iron Dukes, a supporter and great booster and fan of Duke
University sports, a member of the Junior League of Raleigh,
a member of North Ridge Country Club, and a member of the Monthly
Investors' Club and the English Speaking Union. Shirley was a
devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her four loving

father, Jack played drums in a combo at King Edward Public School
when the students marched into school. He then went on to play
in the Harmony Orchestra walking along Bloor Street on Sunday
mornings with his friend Vic

Jack also played in the Harbord Orchestra and sang in early television,
choir and grandstand shows. Jack was a member of the Initial
Festival Singers at the Stratford Festival Inauguration. Throughout
his career, he conducted numerous school and community choirs
and book shows, ending with seventeen years in Florida with a
choir of thirty retirees.

Michael was the President of the Brotherhood of Anglican Churchmen
of the Diocese of Huron, a past member of the Ingersoll Golf
and Country Club and was employed by Annex Publishing until his

held at Old St. Paul's Anglican Church, 723 Dundas Street, Woodstock
on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at 1: 30 p.m. with The Reverend Bruce
GENGE officiating. Interment in the Anglican Cemetery. Contributions
to the Woodstock General Hospital Building Fund or the Parkinson
