In loving memory of a dear husband, father and grandfather, Giuseppe
Nicola, who passed away 11 years ago, March 16, 1994.
I'm still here, though you don't see me.
I'm right by your side each night and day
and within your heart I will always stay.
My body is gone but I'm always near.
I'm everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I will never depart
as long as you keep me alive in your heart.
I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine
and you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.
I'm the salty tears that flow when you weep
and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
I'm the smile you see on my grandchildren's face.
Just look at me, I'm every place.

Popular horse rider dies after fall
'You couldn't meet a nicer person' said friend Karen
FOSTER
'She never had anything bad to say about anything'
By Jim ALGIE, Sun Times Staff, and Don
CROSBY, Sun Times Correspondent,
Page A1
Patricia MOORE died doing what she loved.
"She loved her horses more than anything except her grandchildren,"
said a woman who works in the Holstein General store.
A well-known Mount Forest-area rider,
MOORE, 45, died after a
fall from her
horse during during barrel race practice at A-Bar-K Rodeo farm
near Holstein early Wednesday evening.
MOORE had two grandchildren, one-year-old Breanna and five-year-old
Alex. She and her husband Don took the grandchildren to Disney
last winter. The couple were accomplished riders who competed
at events in Canada and the U.S.
Last
February the
MOOREs held a fundraiser for Pat's father,
Andy McROBBIE, to help raise money for a new house. His house
was destroyed by fire.
"You couldn't meet a nicer person. She never had anything bad
to say about anything, never heard her complain about work...
a happy go lucky person," said friend Karen
FOSTER. "It makes
you wonder how life is fair."
MOORE had completed a practice run on a ranch partly owned by
FOSTER.
The horse she was riding failed to stop as expected, witnesses:
told police. The animal, which belonged to
MOORE, ran onto a
small concrete slab where it lost its footing and fell, Grey
County Ontario Provincial Police spokesman Senior Const. Steve
STARR said in an interview.
In the fall,
MOORE struck her head on the concrete. She suffered
what STARR described as a serious head injury.
MOORE had been part of a group which met regularly at the farm
to practise competitive rodeo manoeuvres.
Other participants provided first-aid to the injured rider until
paramedics, including an advanced life support unit from Palmerston,
arrived.
Air ambulance took
MOORE directly to Hamilton General Hospital
at about 8: 20 p.m. She was pronounced dead shortly after midnight
at the hospital.
The barrel race requires horse and rider to complete a timed
dash, weaving among a series of empty barrels placed in a consistent
pattern.
MOORE was not wearing protective headgear at the time of her
fall, STARR said.
"We're just kind of in limbo here," said
FOSTER, her voice cracking
with emotion as she walked from the scene of the accident to
the house where people who had been with
MOORE the night before
were grieving.

Holiday weekend off to deadly start
By Hank DANISZEWSKI,
Free
Press
Reporter
The Labour Day weekend got off to a deadly start on Southwestern
Ontario roads, with six people killed -- five in two head-on
crashes and a sixth in a motorcycle crash last night in London.
London police said a motorcyclist died when he lost control and
was thrown from the bike about 7 p.m. on Hamilton Road at the
Pottersburg Creek bridge, east of Gore Road.
Earlier, four men died in a Simcoe-area crash and another in
a Chatham-Kent collision.
The Simcoe crash occurred about 2: 40 a.m. on Highway 24, five
kilometres north of the town.
Norfolk
Ontario▼
Provincial▼ Police Const. Mark
FOSTER said a five-tonne
box truck was northbound on the highway when a southbound sports
utility vehicle entered the north lane.
The two vehicles collided head-on and ended up in a ditch. The
four men in the sport utility vehicle were pronounced dead at
the scene.
Dead are driver George
CURADO, 31, of Simcoe, Jose (Joe)
CURADO,
36, and Mario
OLIVEIRA, 35, of Simcoe, and Richard
BUCH, 32,
of Regional Road 1 in the former Charlotteville Township.
The truck's occupants, Terry
THORNE, 43, his wife, Teresa, 40,
and daughter, Lacy, 16, were listed in fair condition at Norfolk
General Hospital.
The Chatham-Kent crash occurred about 6.a.m. at Whitebread Line
and Forhan Street, north of Wallaceburg.
Both drivers were trapped and had to be cut free by firefighters,
police said.
One driver died later of his injuries. The other was taken to
London Health Sciences Centre with life-threatening injuries.

Mona Cowan
FOSTER
By Alison McARTHUR,
Friday,
January 28, 2005 - Page A16
Wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, nurse, storyteller.
Born November 29, 1919, in Cowan's Creek, New Brunswick Died
October 15, 2004, of lung cancer in Belleville, Ontario, aged
Mona Cowan
FOSTER welcomed everyone into her home in the same
way: with a cup of tea or a glass of sherry, a happy smile and
as many stories about New Brunswick as you would care to listen
to.
Often, without being prompted, she'd talk about the ocean, the
people who lived on its shores and a way of life that while familiar
to her, was foreign to many of her visitors. For Mona, the Maritimes
were her passion, inspiration and anchor in life. And it was
these qualities that gave her the determination and strength
to be the adventurer and survivor that she was.
Over my first glass of sherry with Mona she told me about her
father and uncle cutting ice blocks from the Pokemouche River
that would be used for cold storage throughout the summer. She
then went on to explain that her mother would use these ice blocks
to make homemade ice-cream every Sunday; as children, this was
the biggest treat.
On my second visit, Mona told me stories about her days as a
nurse in the province of Quebec. After high school she left the
small village where she had been born to study nursing in Moncton.
Upon graduation, instead of staying at the local hospital like
most of her classmates, she craved adventure. And while sad to
leave her beloved Maritimes she had a desire to see more of Canada.
So, unwilling to be bound by society's expectation of women at
the time, she moved to Montreal and nursed at the Royal Victoria
Hospital. It was only after the Second World War was almost over
that she married her husband, Art
FOSTER, and she returned to
New Brunswick to raise a family of her own.
On my third and all subsequent visits, Mona talked about whatever
subject was on her mind at the time. Inevitably, though, something
about the Maritimes would be discussed. It was as though, because
by now she was living with her daughter in Ontario, she was trying
to make the Maritimes feel closer.
But not all of Mona's stories were happy. She endured hardship
as well. She suffered from but survived ovarian cancer. She was
widowed at an early age, leaving her to care for her still-young
family on her own.
And not long afterward, she was in a horrific car accident that
left her in hospital for almost a year. Mona was, however, never
one to complain or bemoan life's twists, and even late in life
she didn't mentioned the pain that these old injuries still caused.
With her family grown and her injuries fully healed, Mona again
craved adventure, so she set off travelling. Over a period of
about 10 years, Mona visited many countries, including Australia,
New Zealand, Pakistan, India, and England. Eventually, because
of age and inability, her trips became less frequent but she
still managed to return to New Brunswick for all but one summer.
In the last years of her life, Mona told more and more stories
about her years in the Maritimes and her adventures around the
world. She talked often about Friends and family she had known
and the joys they had brought to her life. In fact, she would
often tell the same story many times over, forgetting that she
had already told it.
But no one ever corrected her.

CHAPPELL,
Doris
Philipa
Do's many Friends will be saddened to learn that she died, peacefully
in her sleep, early Monday morning, September 5, 2005. Born in
Toronto eighty-six years ago, Doris was a proud Canadian but
a true daughter of Wales, her parents' family home. A staunch
monarchist, she followed every activity of the Royal Family with
great interest and supported the vital role it plays in the lives
of all Canadians. The Canadian flag waved constantly over her
home of eighty years at 35 Colin Avenue in Toronto. Do will be
long remembered for her sharp wit and a wonderful sense of humour
which served her well to the very last day. Nothing was so serious
in life to prevent her from seeing the amusing side of an issue
and her dry retorts and ready laughter were legend among all
who knew her. A renowned storyteller, Doris had wonderful recall
back to her early days on Colin Avenue when the stately trees
were mere saplings and the paved roads were gravel covered. She
and her sister Olwen were among the first children on the street
and lived to see many generations grow up around them. A longtime
employee of the Bank of Commerce, she was active with a wide
variety of charities and an avid supporter of Timothy Eaton Memorial
Church. For many decades she played bridge with the same group
of Friends and, along with her sister, she was a gracious hostess
known for entertaining in a grand and formal style with everything
in just the right place and every nicety observed. Even while
living at Claremont House for the past couple of years, Doris
hosted frequent dinner parties for groups of ten or more in the
residences' private dining room. It was simply the natural thing
to do for this very vital woman. Doris was predeceased by her
mother, Margaret Louise, father Edwin
FOSTER and sister Olwen
Margaret. In Doris' opinion, one of the joys of life was a wee
dram of Glenfiddich, a tradition she upheld all her days. Her
constant toast was, "Here's looking up your kilt" which seems
like a fitting remembrance for this unique and remarkable friend.
The family will receive Friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home
- A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue
East), from 5-7 p.m. Thursday. Funeral service will be held on
Friday at 11 o'clock in Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, 230 St.
Clair Avenue West.
