Passed away of heart failure at the Versa Care Centre in London on Saturday October 15th 2005, age 85 years. Evelyn was the beloved wife of the late Lewis P. FORDE, and predeceased by her 9 sisters and 1 brother. Evelyn, mother of Maurice "Moe" DWYER, grandmother of Jami DWYER and Jesica DWYER. Evelyn was an incredibly strong lady, with a heart that had room for everyone that she met in her lifetime. She will be missed so very much, but this Angel that was on loan to us on Earth, is now returning to her rightful place with God after her Tour of Duty. I know God will have her place ready on her arrival, and it will be a Celebration in Heaven as it is and has been on earth. We would like to thank all the staff at Versa Care that showed an incredible amount of compassion, our Friends in Florida, and all our Friends in London for being there in such a difficult time. Friends will be received by the family from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the A. Dr. Bruce S. MAIR, D.V.M., passed away February 19, age 82. Beloved husband of Helen, loving father to Amy, Rebecca, Ian, Stuart, Bruce and Matt. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren all of Michigan. Also survived by his mother Jean MAIR and sister Joanne FORDHAM of London, Ontario. Predeceased by his father Rev. William MAIR his brother Stuart MAIR and sister Elizabeth CANN. Dr. MAIR served in the Canadian Royal Navy during World War 2, graduated from Guelph University of Veterinary Medicine in 1948, immigrated to the United States to practice Veterinary Medicine and continued to do so, until his death. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., St. Valentine's Church, Redford, Michigan, February 24, 2005.

Peacefully at her daughter's home in London, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, April 19th, 2005, Jean Davis MAIR in her 100th year. Survived by much loved daughter, Joanne FORDHAM, sadly missed by granddaughters Mary-Anne SMITH, Cathy TEEGARDEN (John), Nancy BURTON (Fred), Kim HANKINSON (Steve), Lisa COUTTS (Ian). Also survived by nine grandchildren, 23 greatgrandchildren and three great-greatgrandchildren. Predeceased by husband Rev. William MAIR, daughter, Elizabeth Anne CANN, sons Stuart and Dr. Bruce MAIR, son-in-law Wayne FORDHAM, sisters Myrtle, Marjorie and Mildred, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Jean taught school for many years with the Huron County and London School Boards, and following retirement volunteered for 31 years at the London Health Sciences Centre - University Campus. Friends will be received at the Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, on Friday from 2: 00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Mount Zion United Church, 471 Ridgewood Crescent, on Saturday, April 23rd, 2005 at 11: 00 a.m. Reverend Chris KRAATZ and niece Reverend Jean BRUCE will officiate. Frank shared the last two fulfilling weeks of his wonderful life with his daughters and grand_son visiting his sister in his home town of Toronto. A lot of laughter was had, memories shared, and love felt. He returned Saturday, July 2, to Vancouver, his "Heaven on Earth", and suddenly passed away on July 4, 2005. Frank is survived by his two daughters Sandi FORDYCE and Joyce FORDYCE, Joyce's husband Gregg SEWELL, grand_son Trenton SEWELL, sister Carol FORDYCE, friend Gloria Nicholson FORDYCE, in-laws Rose and Charlie NICHOLSON, and many nieces and nephews. He took time to enjoy the outdoors and simple pleasures of life, often reminded those close to: "Honour each moment, for in it One is taking part in a miracle, The miracle of existence" Frank was predeceased by his parents George and Ethel FORDYCE, his twin sister Jeanne Fordyce SCUDAMORE, and another sister Beryl Fordyce FRAMPTON. Over the years, he completed the first comprehensive high-altitude photographic surveys of British Columbia, Quebec and the Maritimes.

Cherished husband and best friend of Jane VAIL (née BROWN.) Loving father of Don Jr. and his fiancée, Heidi WILSON, of Owen Sound, Jim, Mike and his girlfriend, Tracey HEATHERS, and Paul, all of Brampton. Don will be deeply missed by his two brothers, Bob and his wife, Fran, of Calgary, Alberta, Norm and his wife, Rosemary, of Stratford; his two sisters, Donna FLEISCHAUER and her husband, John, of Mount Brydges and Jannette MASSÉ and her husband, Joe, of London; his sister-in-law, Nancy FORGET and her husband, Leo, of New Liskeard. One of the joys of Don's life was serving this community of so many wonderful people as their Chiropractor. Teacher, guidance counsellor, honorary mother. Born December 20, 1917, near Delhi, Ontario Died February 21, in Toronto, of natural causes, aged 87.
Marion AXFORD was born on a farm south of Delhi and from her earliest years, she dreamed of becoming a teacher. She spent hours in the woodshed behind the house playing with a blackboard and chalk to teach spelling and arithmetic to imaginary kids. She would admit years later, however, that as a child, she ran low on self-esteem. The desire to teach and the search for self-esteem in herself and others would consume her for the rest of her life.
She attended McMaster University in Hamilton, obtaining her B.A. in 1939 with a major in mathematics. These were difficult times for women to make their way in the world. She applied to teach mathematics at Elmira High School in 1941. When the board reviewed her application, one member opined, "Women can't teach math," to which the director replied, "This one can." And she did for the next five years. Marion followed this by becoming the first woman to serve as registrar and dean of women at Waterloo College.
In 1952, she returned to her hometown to teach mathematics at Delhi Secondary School where she met an inspector from the provincial Department of Education named Olive PALMER. Olive married John DIEFENBAKER, the future Prime Minster of Canada. She provided Marion with the first nuance of a vision that would turn into a lifetime mission to develop guidance programs for students. In the process, the two became the greatest of Friends.
In 1955, she accepted a job in Agincourt followed by a moved to the Scarborough Board of Education as a supervisor of guidance, working at the elementary level to help students select courses for high school. This involved ground-breaking work to develop a guidance course, on-the-job-training in elementary schools, and teaching other teachers how to deliver the program.
Everything in her life, however, was interrupted in late November, 1969. Marion suffered a stroke and in a display of courage and perseverance she made it through the night despite predictions to the contrary. She spent 11 weeks recovering in hospital and would be back to work in August of 1970. She admitted later that she had to get better because the children needed her. A year later she was chief supervisor of Guidance in the Scarborough Board of Education; she retired in 1979.
Ten years after retiring she sat down to write a book about enhancing self-esteem in children. The book was called Me 'n' You, and it finally exposed her for what she was; the Queen of Self-Esteem, the Hug Lady and a creator of the "warm fuzzies."
In recognition of her outstanding service and dedication to teaching and guidance, in 1975 she was honoured with a "Woman of the Year Award" presented by the Ontario Government for outstanding contribution to education in the province. In 1992, the Ontario School Counsellors Association created The Marion Axford Award to be presented in recognition of an outstanding contribution to guidance.
Marion never married, instead choosing to adopt all the children she met along the way. One very special child, Lynda FORGET, lived next door to her in Agincourt. At age 5, Lynda adopted Marion. Reflecting on Marion's life and influence, she said: "When I think of Marion I always think of love; her love of children, her unconditional love of family and Friends and her love of life." This was the heart that drove the spirit. For Marion, reaching out to help children was not a job. It was a love affair. The world will be a better place because she touched the lives of thousands of children and everyone who met her.

HALE, Fraser Alexander
Of Guelph and WahWah Taysee Georgian Bay, in his 75th year. Best friend and beloved husband of Beverley (STRONG) HALE for 51 years. Proud father of Linda HALE (George DAUNT) of Old Orchard Farm, Moffat, Ontario and Dr. Fraser (Sandy) HALE (Monica FORGET) of Fergus Ontario. Adoring Poppa to grandchildren Willy and Marnie HALE and Vanessa Hale DAUNT (Tess,) many nieces and nephews and dozens of farm brats.
Fraser was predeceased by his brother William Homer HALE (1979) and is survived by his sister Pat BOOTHE (Doug) of Hamilton and brother Peter of Marina del Rey, California.
Born in Hamilton, he attended Hillfield School and McMaster University there, St. Andrew's College in Aurora and graduated from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce, University of Pennsylvania.
Like his father and grandfather Fraser's working years were dedicated to the Canada Life Assurance Company. For 38 years he worked throughout Canada and the U.S. He wrote two very popular insurance books as well as many articles and text material for the provincial insurance department, the insurance industry and his company.
In his later working years (he retired at 60) he was much in demand as a speaker, particularly in the U.S.
He frequently contributed articles to the Guelph Mercury and Georgian Bay Today.
Fraser was a lifelong supporter of the arts and a volunteer. From the opening day of the River Run Centre, he and Bev were there more than 300 times ushering, bartending, writing training material or whatever needed doing. In recent years he has served on the Advisory Board of Touchmark Theatre, the Board of the Kitchener Waterloo Symphony, the Guelph Chamber Choir and the Guelph Spring Festival (president).
As with two generations before him and three following him the family are all dedicated to their special part of Georgian Bay. Many cousins and neighbours will miss seeing Fraser row his boat through the islands.
Friends will be received at the Wall-Custance Funeral Home and Chapel 206 Norfolk Street, Guelph (Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm) A private family service will be held. Cremation Woodlawn Memorial Park, Guelph.

Passed away on Monday, May 2nd, 2005, in his 76th year. Beloved husband of Marie (née FORGET) of Barrie.
